I remember that the M32 at Eastville wasn't finished when Rovers played Stoke in the league cup,and I think that the gasworks was shut then or just after....maybe Harry Buckle could tell us the date of gasworks closing. Eastville was better when the railway viaduct was there, but I never liked the smell of the gas,it seemed worse at night games.
Yes the gas smelt stronger on a Tuesday night because on a Saturday the sun warms the air just above the ground and makes it rise, and so the gas is dispersed. Not a rich twat but a clever one. That seems logical, what about during very cold spells in the winter ?

It's a shame rugby is such a boring, crap game, devoid of flair and played mainly by professional bodybuilders on vast hormone cocktails. Football attracts all sorts, from the posh to the dregs of society. Rugby in England tends to be watched by middle class estate agents, legal professionals and other assorted dullards who talk solely about holidays, executive cars and school catchment areas. Give me a football crowd any day over the lifeless real ale and Guinness quaffers at rugby, Bit of a troll but the entire concept of rugby, from the game itself through to rugby club antics to the well mannered supporters fills me with a giant yawn of boredom Great, at least I won't bump into you at the rugby.
I was brought up in Oldbury Court btw, where there really aren't all that many middle class estate agents, legal professionals or executive cars.
Like you Rex I was brought up on a council estate but got a scholarship to a school where only rugby was played ( St Brendan's ) although there were many kids there who were very privileged there were some right hard gits and what your background was made no difference if you could play you were in and one of the hardest was a kid from hartcliffe who went on to a very successful career also some of the lads from dings Whitehall and B***** hill would scare the s**t out of any football firm

As usual the crowd who spend 3 hours in a pub and then show up at 2.59 expecting to walk straight in cause problems (except at Woking of course) The stewards caused the problems, we should be free to enter the ground at whatever time we choose. Absolutely. Clubs in divi4 should be grateful we enter the ground at all. No matter what time you get in, you don't deserve to be punched because of non conformity.. In any conversation, we are talking of a small minority that entered late. So get this in proportion.....160/1600 is only 10% and it wasn't anywhere near that. The stewards seen it. The stewards had intelligence as to the numbers before the game. The stewards chose to handle it their way. A mis managed, unorganised, heavy handed trying to blame fans situation. I'm not saying we are all angels, didn't see it last season when we were en masse, no need for Plymouth stewards to act the way the did..

You might disagree but basically that's what actually happened on Saturday.....again . I have no problem with people choosing to arrive with 1 minute before kick off but when you appear to be in a condition that makes you either incapable of finding your reserved seat or of understanding a stewards advice to find another seat because other fans around you are fed up of you obstructing your view of the game then you need to arrive a little earlier to prevent disruption among your own fans. I have no problem with fans going out to enjoy themselves for the day but when your condition on arrival at the game then spoils the enjoyment of others around you then you have to question the purpose of actually going to the game

Me too Rex, raised in Lockleaze, there isn't anything posh about me, in fact some reckon I even have a Welsh accent

i know its a family game now and times have changed but it has always been singers and standers at the back so it amazes me how some insist on trying to sit at the back with their grandparents, wife and kids and then get upset when others dont want to sit.... the holier than though posh twats are fairly recent additions to our support most inherited from our time at Bath and not even Bristolians they would have had nervous breakdowns if they had ever stepped foot on the tote end.You can be outraged at me saying that but its true. Blimey, so we're only allowed to support if we come from Bristol now are we, that should cut the crowd in half next Saturday Just like our players, most of them.

I thought it might be lively as we haven't visited there place on a Saturday afternoon for at least 10 years. The last few years have been tuesday night games meaning that going by train wasn't an option with no return trains. If carlsberg did away games then Ellis's last minute header would have bust the net! They don't and it didn't but I'm still buzzing from a great day out ! And if Carlsberg did tee-shirts they would look like this... Attachment Deleted

I didn't hear that. I didn't hear anything of a dissenting word until stewards took it upon themselves to get heavy handed. Utmost respect, Bridge I trust your perception but I saw a few (less than 10%) come in the sitting bit from singing happily in concourse, as always happens, and all they wanted to do was watch the game! Never see ounce of trouble / intimidation until stewards intervened..... What's wr

Nothing is wrong with any of it providing due respect is given to each other and we don't apply the "we'll do what we want attitude"

you have got to hate the "your in my seat ticket w**kers" who go and tell the stewards then dont sing or stand and give out dirty looks to anyone that does and generally look miserable and like they dont want to be there throughout the game, whats the point in going to matches, p*ss off to the theatre..posh tw*ts. Maybe they go with the specific intention of watching a game of football?

The reality is that if it is all ticket and we sell out our allocation then we should sit in the seat our ticket allocates us. The steward I asked directed me to where my seat was, absolutely no problem and my mates who joined me later also sat in their allocated seat. I've no idea why some fans think we should just sit anywhere when we have sold out our allocation, all it does is cause anoyance among our own fans who then don't or won't listen to stewards trying to get them to move to where there are seats available. There were plenty of seats available in the away end just behind the goal, the Football League highlights show that. That certainly doesn't excuse the behaviour of some stewards but neither does it excuse the behaviour of some fans either. As someone has said earlier at Rugby matches people are drinking before and during the games, you never witness the sort of behaviour by fans that was seen yesterday at Plymouth, I've never really worked out quite why that is....hey ho ! So should we all arrive at 1pm and guard our seats until kick off? Allocated seating either needs to be enforced and properly stewarded, or not enforced and ignored. The halfway house that is adopted by most clubs, as at Plymouth yesterday helps nobody. I don't understand what's wrong with unallocated seating. First come, first served, no arguments?I understand where you're coming from on this, but I tend to agree with Bridgeman and some others. Incidentally, from what I've read and heard, the unallocated seating policy in the Atyeo Stand (down the road) has been blamed for problems they've had this season. In particular the Burnley game where people stand in the way of others and block gangways.

This sounds a bit arrogant as if we can do what we like when we like! This sounds more like the other lot south of the river. If you arrive at 2.55 or later you have to take the inconvenience and hassle. Unfortunately other Gasheads have to as well.. Totally unfair.

Hey, that's a novel idea I must have missed that lesson at school, you know, the one about "you must watch football the way I say you must watch it." Some of us like to watch football for the sake of it and watch the club we love. UTG!
