DC said himself at the summer fans meetings with the Club if he did not get us promoted he would walk away himself ...so check the minutes of those meetings and its in black and white Are you referring to the Q&A held at the end of July? If so, I wasn't aware that there were Minutes, would be great if you could provide the link - cheers.

Sorry if the facts get in the way of your opinion, but they are facts regardless. As the old saying goes, A pessimist is what a optimist calls a realist. We have won more than we have drawn, that's a fact. It sure is, but that doesn't alter the fact that we have drawn far too many games, and lots of them against very poor teams.

I think that the major factor here is that the managers two-year contract expires in June. So at that time he can up-sticks and walk away from BRFC without even a backward glance should he want to, or he could (if invited) sign another contract with the club.
If I were the Chairman I would be inclined to at least hold exploratory talks with the manager, to see if he would like to stay for a further period.

I'd like to see what was said about when they expected the next regular Q&A session to be. I took notes (for my own record) at the Supporters Club Q&A. I never got round to typing them up for this forum, but I've just had a scan through my handwritten annotations of the pre-submitted questions. (If I remember correctly, BRSC published on their site a very high level summary, but not detailed minutes). There are some interesting points, in hindsight! With respect to DC's comments about the 2014-15 season: [Q5] Are BRFC going to hire a football analyst to regularly assess the performance of the team and hold the manager and his assistant accountable? DC: That's the manager's job. Six thousand people will let him know [i.e. hold me accountable]. I'm confident, and expect to finish at the top end of the table. [Q15] Does Darrell Clarke believe he can build a squad that can compete at the top end of the table? DC: ...[no more] journeymen League players on high wages. No long contracts - 1 year plus incentive (extension). [Q44] What assurances can you give that the team can challenge for promotion into the Football League at the end of the 2014/15 season? DC: My expectation is to get promotion.

He is a good manager. I think he is quite brave with his formations, tactics and substitutions. Sack him - no. Its more a point of whether we can keep him if we don't go up!

Looking at the gig he was given I bet he'd have plenty of offers if he did leave us. Also don't forget most season's 90+ pts would achieve straight promotion. To be fair, 90 points would only have been enough for automatic promotion twice in the last 10 years. I want Clarke to stay regardless btw. This seasons points haul to be champions prove that the league is more competitive than in the past.

The more I think about it we should probably get shot even if we get back into the FL. DC snatched defeat from the jaws of victory to get us relegated and we should have walked the conference this year and haven't, so yes don't renew his contract at the end of the season come what may, there are rafts of better managers out there. Just be content with your promotion and toddle off now, there's a good chap.

If by chance we don't get promoted either as champs or play offs do we get rid of DC and give somebody else a chance ?? I say NO BTW by then the new owners may well be in place so it would not be down to NH to select a replacement Are you f' in serious? Why pose that question now? Why even consider the question?

I suppose it all depends what happens should we finish in the Play Offs, as would you want DC in charge next season if say FGR or Eastleigh beat us over 2 legs? Yes, because even if this does happen, he still represents the strongest chance we have of getting promoted next season. 7 games to get is right at the start of this season, turn around the losing mentality, then the form of champions ever since. We need continuity, we need spirit, we need the tactical nouse that DC and his team have brought.

It's silly to compare seasons really because you can't get much empirical data when clubs and players change each season. Would you say this season has been more competitive than when the top two clubs got 103 and 98 points? What does 'competitive' mean anyway? It could just mean that the top clubs are crapper than in previous seasons

In the same way that Clarke was largely responsible for relegation, you can't ignore the role being played by this season's assistant manager. Sorry, but you are talking bollocks again.

I would like to think the bod already have a contract extension in the making. Like others have said, we can't keep getting rid of managers let alone ones that have done the job DC has. He is bright young manager and showed promise of being successful.
Still find it hard to believe we are even talking about this considering there are potentially just 8 days left of the season..I am thoroughly behind DC and have been since his first game this season and hopefully we will all be having a celebratory drink come end of next Saturday.

Whether we agree with the highlighted part of Bamber's post (or not) is one thing, but he's certainly right about the contribution being made by the present assistant manager. Well done Marcus Stewart. He wants to manage a club one day, he has said.
