Although disappointed, I can understand the reasons why. Nothing to do with the board, just a few morons who don't seem to take a hint.
Now let's get this football club back on track on the playing side. That's the most important thing right now.
The stadium will follow.

Good, I'm glad. It would be embarrassing playing conference games in a 21,700 capacity stadium.

Well personally I am gutted. Nick Higgs told GT on radio Bristol one month ago : " We hope to start work by the end of May with a 2015 opening". Now it is slipped quietly to " We aim to start work "THIS YEAR" . Not the summer but "THIS YEAR. And this is only an aim... If people think that is good news then I accept other people views. However: for me it is devastation and I am beginning to think what now are the hold ups . From yesterdays highs the wordings " aim to start this year" makes me now think ...

We had to stark work by the end of May to be ready to enter UWE for the start of the 15/16 season. When we moved into June with not much happening, a delay was inevitable. Annoying, but it is what it is.

I:m certainly taken back because I honestly bought into the positive terms from NH a few months ago . I did think we would start in May/june and it would be ready by 2015. However: I could accept a small delay and a statement along the lines of " We will miss the 2015 start but are positive about a start in the next few months"
However: to say " We AIM to start building this year" seems grey woolly and open-ended...

The recent delays meant that being in for the start of the 2015-16 season had become impossible. If the rule is that Rovers cannot move mid season, and can now only aim for the 2016-17 season, the required start date for a 62 week build time, with some contingency, is around Easter next year. There would be little point, now, in rushing to start, only to have the stadium unused for 6 months, especially if some of the finance will be loans, even if only in the short term.

I wonder what Sainsbury's think of yet further delays, the contract to sell to them must have a completion date attached to it surely?

Whether its the right decision or not, it just highlights how the BoD in particular NH will say one thing one day and something different the next.
We only have to look at this weeks statement from him, and then listen to the DC interview where the comment was made about transfer fees - or lack of.

Okay Ispwichrover fair point but knowing there is NO chance now until 2016. For me it is very very disappointing. If what your saying is true there is little use of NH giving any updates and we all might as well forget about it until next Easter.
So lets all be honest now and come back on this forum in 10 months time and we will revisit then...

At least we can now open the stadium in league one against one of our bitter rivals.

Too true Ilfracombe once again mixed statements by the club. But let those who defend this decision not have it both ways. If we cant move in by 2016 now. Then none of this " We aim to build this year" is worthy is it?.
We know now next spring 2015 will be the start date and whats the use saying " We AIM this year"..
Anyway: gutted and we will have this conversation in a years time - simple..

Will it happen if the team aren't in the top six by December?
Added pressure on the team to perform!!!

Any fan that puts 100% trust in what comes out of the mouths of our BoD's is on crack I'm afraid. OK, so some of it - here and there - actually comes true now and again but that's about it. Anyone else think differently? Fine, that's your opinion and you are entitled to it. But with respect, if you think you can trust them implicitly then you are in cloud cuckoo land and have not been paying ANY attention to what's been going on at the club for many years. Politicians and weasel words, the one area where BRFC IS Premier League sad to say. fadh

Think you people are all jumping the gun yet again...
All i can see is our chairman saying we are starting this year - that could be next week for all we know
At no point did i read that as a delay
Maybe the SoS said today "i will give you a decision in 3 months" so Sir Nick made the decision to start the project based on that date
Yet more BoD bashing just for the sake of it

It about being fair and listening to the challenges aimed at us fans too by the board. So I have tried to be supportive and reflective in what NH says. But to say one week " Work will start in late may" or " We are building a team ready to start in our new ground in 2015"
And then to say a few days later " We AIM to start work this year" only AIM to me is a shocker..
But I agree fully with you and Ilfracombe . I just dont know what will happen now...

I don't know what we are getting so excited about. Until the Secretary of State gives a final "no" to the listing request from Mr Carstairs, it is impossible to give a definite start date for the stadium.
All the necessary procedures for starting the build are being undertaken and we all knew already that the build time was 63 weeks, so we wouldn't make the start of the 2015 season.
Why confirming something we already knew and stating we hope to start this year, is so controversial, is beyond me.

Henbury Gas Read your message again.. You are saying on one hand it might take 3 months ( which is a delay) and are covering yourself by saying next week (which is not a delay). What one is it And the O.S said today " We aim to start work this year "... It:s an AIM not an objective..
