Henbury Gas Read your message again.. You are saying on one hand it might take 3 months ( which is a delay) and are covering yourself by saying next week (which is not a delay). What one is it And the O.S said today " We aim to start work this year "... It:s an AIM not an objective.. Think what i'm trying to say here is, we never had a firm start date to start with, so how can we have a delay from an unknown date ??

Istm they've just given up on getting it ready for the start of next season. Had we still been aiming for that it would have probably cost more, and it would have gone off half-cocked with a bunch of extra stuff not quite ready, no pre season there at all, etc.
At least now it can be built without a mad panic, everything can be up and running 100%, and tried and tested when we do move in. And we can have a proper pre-season. Istm a long, proper pre-season against some big-name clubs will be very lucrative and also very useful in attracting some new, and casual fans to the club.

Shock horror Hope to start this year !! I think that in the grand scheme of things that this is acceptable, it could have been an awful lot worse, don't you think? The new stadium is vitally important to the club, but the priority should be the team and its performance. The UWE Stadium will happen, and the delay doesn't appear to be terminal.

Okay Henbury but if we missed the boat now for 2015 . Why rush it at all? After all: we don:t know what position we will be in 12 months time. So when Higgs or O.S said : " We AIM to start this year". Maybe he is now working back 15 months from July 2016. I don:t see any reason in starting work in 2014 if it may be empty for 6-8 months ( Sept 14 - jan 16 start for example).
So to me it is off for another year and I feel disappointed. Only my opinion of course..

We will start this year at the best time to get the stadium ready for the 2016/17 season as it is not possible tnow dues to the legal challeng to get it ready for 15/16,
That would sound much better than aim to start this year.
Communication and delivering a message is about confidence even if the message is not exactly what people want to hear.
You never get that feeling at BRFC
We have gone from completing paper work to aiming to start thos year in the space of a day

Was this announcement on the OS? There's nothing on there from where I'm looking, although I've had some problems with only being able to view the site a day or 2 out of date before.
Shame that there's a delay, although I personally felt an air of inevitability about it. I just hope that it eventually WILL get built. Until I see it under way officially, I will always have a nagging doubt in my mind that it will ever happen.

So we find out indirectly form the OS that there is now little prospect of being in the ground next summer, why couldn't NH just tell us that in yesterday's update?
I assume it's BS that DC was showing prospective players the new ground, as unless we're offering them 3 year contracts he may as well show them pictures of Wembley as they've got more chance of playing there for Rovers.

Tooper gas: Totally agree!. We been hearing all along the club are very confident the ground will be completed by August 2015. We now hear informally it is now off . So now it is off the next available space is August 2016. Even now we are told there will be updates from the club but in the same breath it states " We AIM to start work in 2014". So what is it ?. If it is 26 months now to the 2016 build and only takes 15-18 months. What are the updates for Either the ground will start in September 2014 and will be finished by spring 2016 and will sit for 6 months ( doubtful) . Or updates for the next 8-10 months. After all we now have a space of up to 8-10 months waiting somewhere...

The original plan for the start of 2015/2016 sounded like building could be rushed in order to finish it in time, and so with us now having an extra season to build it we can take our time and ensure that the stadium isn't a rush job. But as others have said, I'll believe in the stadium more when we actually start building it.

Could we be 100 % sure they will agree to a mid season move?. What about if we got promotion in our first season ?. Therefore : if we start in late summer 2014 and finish by early 2016. The FA might turn it down and we are waiting around in an empty stadium for 8 months.
So when they said today " We AIM to start in 2014" . I read it as not sure : maybe early 2015 ( 18 months to August 2016).
I could be wrong but i feel it is off for another season and we are working back 18 months from August 2016...
Anyway : we will soon tell by the updates...

Lazza It about being fair and listening to the challenges aimed at us fans too by the board. So I have tried to be supportive and reflective in what NH says. But to say one week " Work will start in late may" or " We are building a team ready to start in our new ground in 2015" And then to say a few days later " We AIM to start work this year" only AIM to me is a shocker.. But I agree fully with you and Ilfracombe . I just dont know what will happen now... Henbury you slag off the board as much as anyone, it was such a vague statement with no explanation for the delay and a hope to start this year comment. He doesnt help himself

It just keeps getting further and further away through a drip-drip policy of small additional delays. Each of which is only a small further delay from the last announced, but taken together, and compared to our expectations a year ago, add up to a massive stalling of the whole project. Expect more hitches to be announced as the weeks progress. I imagine once the new season starts, the announcement will be that we hope to commence building not "this year" but "this season". I have serious doubts now, for the first time, about this thing ever happening.

There is no indication, regardless of a line in an article which was barely relevant, that there is going to be a huge delay. Once again, lack of communication leads to rumour and rumour to gospel. Even if the ground starts late summer, which is the current indication, it wouldn't sit empty for months as we have all the non footballing revenue streams to get up and running. Honest.

Very strange comment _ We AIM to start this year...
Its almost like saying " Lets take it off the agenda for a long period".
We keep saying " The next announcement will be clearer and more detailed". It might only be me but I am getting more confused and vague each time. By keeping all three options open 1) We may make the 2015 start deadline. 2) It will start this year 3) We aim to start this year is a bit like Michael Fish giving the weather. Today it will be sunny : raining with a bit of cloud : overcast and hot with cold spells ...

That famous & dreaded BRFC word 'aim/hope' has been used. 'We aim to start work by the end of the year', that has certainly moved on from starting working in the summer. Something doesn't seem right and the stuff with Carstairs feels like it is covering something up.

Mr Higgs is hardly going to underplay the effects of the stadium objections to Sajid Javid is he?
Naturally he will want to demonstrate how much damage has been done to the club by Trash and EH in order to try and garner support.
Seems reasonable to me but sadly for many it's just another reason to bash the board.
