Fair enough, if you want to talk about things other than Bristol Rovers, then a Bristol Rovers forum probably isn't for you.

Stay with it Bladds, although you've got to laugh at a thread on censorship being locked :-)

Admin haven't helped themselves have they.
Contributing to a thread that should have been deleted, then closing an entire section of the forum because someone, but it seems we aren't allowed to know who, complained about daft multiple posts by Wes and a circular argument about Israel. What exactly did they expect, for half a dozen football fans to unlock the reasons for and find a solution to a conflict that has spanned generations?
Bladds, please don't go, the forum is better with you.

I understand fully mods not having the inclination or time to moderate but it's the people putting in complaints and not even using the forum . Chewbacca on here stirring it up putting words in posts that aren't there . It pisses me right off .

There are too many personal attacks on this forum, it is the worst thing about it; threads are hijacked and the debate gets lost. If you do not agree with somebody that is no reason for rudeness, or if a poster spells the odd word incorrectly why do people point it out?
Apart from the idiots posting as pretend Rovers fans, we are all gasheads together for goodness sake.

There is a delete account option in the user profile settings if people need it, I think.
I'd be sorry to lose you though bladder - I know that there's been criticism of aspects of the forum recently, including the way it's run. Some unjustified, but some deserved I expect. Overall though, I think we managed to cultivate a pretty good atmosphere over 8 years since the original alternative forum started, and it would be a shame if posters from that period decided to leave.
There have been a lot of changes recently at BRFC and on the forum(s), but hopefully people will stick with it until things get smoother, and we all get more used to operating on a forum with a much larger user base.

All sounds more than reasonable, and I hope Bladder stays as well. But who complained, and what about to lead you to remove the Current Affairs section? What exactly did you expect to happen in a section with that title? It was no worse and no better than it had been for the preceeding 8 years. In fact, things got quite entertaining around the time of the last general election and in the months that followed, by comparison, what was being posted recently shouldn't have caused too much of an issue to any level headed person?

If I remember correctly one of the things said when the forum was receiving all the new members from the OF was that threads wouldn't be removed, locked etc without reason as this forum wasn't like the OF. I very rarely post on Rovers forums these days so it doesn't affect me, but to close a whole sub forum seems contradicting.
That said, the staff team get nothing out of running the forum that benefits them, and maintaining it is taken out of their free time. It's somewhere we can all come together and talk about our club. There are forums for everything, this is a football forum.

Your argument could be seen as one that advocates removal of the current affairs section. Why is one needed on a Bristol Rovers forum? If people want to argue with strangers about whether black chaps are nicer than white chaps or whatever, I'm pretty sure there's a few alternative places somewhere on the internet where that is possible. I think that the offer of providing a link to an alternative forum, dedicated to current affairs discussions amongst Bristol Rovers fans, is more than fair. I'm sure that Bladder, with his keen sense of the importance of free speech, would be first in line to volunteer to moderate such a forum, as I'm sure he was when this forum was set up.

Bladder has offered to moderate the Currant Affairs forum. So have others. As has been said, do you also advocate the closing of the Rugby, Cricket, Film, Music etc Forums as they are also non-football?

As has been said, do you also advocate the closing of the Rugby, Cricket, Film, Music etc Forums as they are also non-football? Is it possible to be a moderator of just one section, and not others? If so, then I concede that have been a better way forward. I wouldn't be bothered either way about the other sections, I don't use them, but as they are already set up then I guess the decision to keep or not must be proportionate to the amount of work involved in moderating them verses the pleasure that those that do use them presumably gain. Either way, is there any need for people to be so rude to those that volunteered to keep this forum running? Disagree, fine, but Bladder calling them names is a bit off in my book.
