We had to put up with your stories of your new boiler. It's payback time ! It’s a good boiler, I can give you the output levels if you want! I don't think there is one person in the Civil Service club who doesn't know the output levels of your boiler by now

I have started to memorise the underground map, got the Piccadilly, Circle and District line done and will do the rest on a daily basis. I have also memorised all the American state capitals and the kings and queens of England/UK since William the Conqueror. All of this information I now have will obviously prove invaluable at some point in my life Impressive, with their dates as well? When you going on Pointless? UTG! ps. Try to memorise their wives/Queens. That’s a real tester. 😉 I really want to win a Pointless trophy! No dates for the kings and queens yet, small steps Wareham, small steps

Big positive for Ben Garner, he's still in a job. The only people who have a worse record than garner are the current government who were easily beaten by germany, south korea, taiwan and new zealand on protecting citizens from coronavirus. Luckily for them the mainstream media continue to suck up to johnson and his cronies despite their gross mishandling of the crisis. Instead of the deserved manslaughter charge we will probably end up giving johnson a bloody knighthood! This governments performance during this crisis have made garner look like brian clough in comparison. But no need for concern because the post virus enquiry will take years and probably end up blaming the fire brigade. We definitely need our serious section back. However, you may need to go for a slightly different tack if we have any chance of getting it Other than that, I do have some sympathies with your argument.

(amaze people with the additional Brucie Bonus fact that the Epping to North Weald / Blake Hall / Ongar extension ran until 1994). If people get really bored sporcle is a good site for sport / geography trivia. Football one here: www.sporcle.com/games/JakePFC/champs... Actually it's the Central Line I have done and not the District (which has lines going off all over the place and may need some proper study to learn!)

So you believe that the sailors on the were right to have blindly followed the Captain as they thought the ship approached the iceberg? The shareholders you refer to also elected a committee to act on their behalf and they will have an opportunity in due course to pass a verdict on the actions of the committee at the SC AGM, Surely, the stance by the SCC is as good as an example of what is available to them to act on their behalf (what else could they do?) especially as the Board (all two of them) have excluded the SC from meetings and in doing so have denied shareholders knowing the real financial position of the Company from everyone until the legal obligation of supplying information for shareholders in time for the FC AGM? And we have yet to discover the real current debt as the accounts before us are almost 12 months out of date. Since when were SS members balloted to elect SC Committee members? Are they still going?

I have no idea what you mean by that statement. May be it has been going a very long time but it is becoming less and less important and meaningful to supporters and the club. It doesn't appeal to the younger generation, a point which looking at its history fails to address. It needs to look forward not back and it is sadly failing to do so. My statement was saying the Brsc has survived two wars and continued to provide funds to the football club and while in 2020 everyone wants every thing for free and not contribute to fund raising etc to help the FC.What does everyone want for free?

I believe attendances will be very low everywhere when football restarts. I would imagine, if there was a full lifting of lockdown and government advice was 'go to football if you want to' then grounds would be sold out all over the place.

Maybe someone on here could clarify if a story I heard about a supporters club meeting where the Rovers board were present is an apocryphal one or not. The board were taking questions from the floor, those asking the questions were asked to give their name as they did so. One guy named Geoff Pike piped up with a question without giving his name and so was then asked 'What is your name'. I'm sure you can guess what one quick witted member then reputedly shouted out I really do hope it's a true story! Yes it's true, I was at that meeting. Geoff is a friend of mine, although I cannot claim to have made the "don't tell him Pike" comment! Brilliant! That's made me smile all over again

I think Porridge also passes my Father Ted test, in that no matter how many times I have seen an episode, I can still watch it again. Recently watched all 21 episodes on Netflix, followed by Going Straight on YouTube. Still sharp and stands the test of time, though Going Straight dated a bit Going Straight never quite worked as well as Porridge did it. I actually remember sitting down to watch the first ever episode of Porridge. It started at my bed time (do kids still have a set bed time?) but I was allowed to stay up to watch it. Maybe because that was such a treat is why the programme seemed special to me. Also I remember being so shocked when hearing of Richard Beckinsales death. I would have been 14 by then. so would have known a couple of grandparents die, but for some reason , Beckinsales death really shook me.

If you had to nominate two posters most likely to turn a 'just for fun' thread, into a discussion on social history. I think Oldie and Bambi would be most people's favourites Be gentle Rex, one day you'll turn into that old bloke who sits in the corner of the pub, sipping from one pint all evening and moaning relentlessly about how much better things used to be. Sure we all had nits and scurvy, no running water and we lived under a dead dog in the gutter, but it was our dead dog, and we were happy. I think I'm already there! Funnily enough, my own upbringing pretty much mirrored what was being said. Me, my 2 older sisters , mum . dad and gran lived in a cramped 2 bedroom house with no bathroom and an outdoor toilet. It was me coming along in 1964 (my sisters are 7/8 years older) that got us a shiny newish council house with a bathroom complete with a loo (outdoor one as well!) As you mentioned, what we lived in then would now be considered poverty.

Father Ted followed by Phoenix Nights. There have been loads of sitcoms I have liked and when I have seen some years after I can't believe that I found them funny. There weren't many episodes of Father Ted and they are permanently being repeated, but I still watch and enjoy it if it's on, even though I would have seen any given episode several times over.

I'm assuming anyone who suggests 'Mrs Browns Boys' will be facing a posting ban?
