Sentences should begin with a capital letter. Unless it starts with iFollow...?! I refuse to recognise companies whose titles would have received a big red circle around them from Mr. Morgan at Alexandra Park.

Ordinarily I would be really looking forward to this, hoping to be drawn away to new ground to visit with Rovers, I just can't get excited about it without being able to attend. For the life of me I just cannot understand why I can go to a County league game like I did the other week , with an attendance of over 300, but I would not be allowed to watch Rovers with a similar sized crowd.

But it just doesn't scan. Duck. Could do better. back in the day it was just grammar pedantry on here. Now it's metre pedantry. Taking it up some notches... Sentences should begin with a capital letter.

I am also now in the semi-converted camp.
I've seen our last 5 games. Not perfect by any means. I've been dissapointed by our tendency to sit back too much when taking the lead at points where we have been on top and should be pressing home our advantage. We also seem to start quite slowly in games although one consistent theme seems to be that we come out after half-time and play very well for 15-20 mins. There's a bit of a rope-a-dope strategy going on I think. After half-time in each game our defensive line seems to come up 5-10 yards which is interesting and has been quite effective but surely we will have to vary this up at some point because if I've noticed this then League 1 managers must have done...
But, there is evidence of an actual pattern of play that was completely missing last season. You can see what it is that we are trying to do and the players fit the style of play now. None of that applied last season. So I think there is cause for hope. There's a long way to go but I think we at least look like a side with a plan and a structure that suits the players we have. None of those things applied last season. It's a work in progress but at least I can actually see what that amounts to now. Last season I had no clue what we were trying to do at all. So it is a big step forward. Whether it's enough in the long-run remains to be seen but I'm allowing myself some cautious optimism that maybe Garner is the guy who can execute this strategy. I still think it's fair to be skeptical though - the hole he dug for himself with Rovers fans is sufficient that it will still take some digging out of. But at least he has now located the spade and is digging in the right direction.
That's a very fair post. The benefit of this crazy situation is it allows everyone opportunity to watch all matches, home and away, as it's accessible live and more affordable. So.... you've seen (like many of us) 5 matches. I saw the previous 5 live matches and more, invested time and money. Like many out there... What I can say is although I agree with many parts of your post, some things have not changed. The big difference in last 5 matches are starting two strikers, effective wing back play, opposition set up.....but when BG makes his unforced subs (a few minutes either 70 minute mark) it tends to not change the result to a positive. Just my observations, we usually end up with 1 or 0 recognised strikers in the pitch, so naturally sit back... I think no one can argue that BG is a fully qualified coach, and may be good at that with technical knowledge.
As for a manager, a nitty, wiley clever and foreseeing pro active man manager that can demonstrate we can grind out results when the game isn't going for us, inspire that team spirit.....for me, that respect hasn't been earned yet. We all have different expectations and standards.. Whilst I want doctors, lawyers and a few other professions to be fully qualified, I'm not sure football coaching is something that can be taught in the classroom, and I'm not convinced someone having a high level qualification in the UEFA scheme makes any difference to their ability to manage a football club. Some cynics may even think that FA and UEFA coaching course are a nice little earner

Last nights pitch looked very narrow, was hard to play with any width. I was trying to see if I could see previous lines, the pitch was really narrow. It like it could comfortably 6 or 7 feet wider each side - at least. Yes not much room for a bi-line winger. I'm surprised football pitches haven't had their dimensions standardised .

I have just had a read of a few of the comments on the Donnie match thread, including my own. Spend the time, it's worth it.
I am over the moon with this result and performance. We made Shrewsbury look rubbish by the end. They had no clue how to do anything by injury time. Anssi was excellent, glad to see Ehmer get some credit at last. Baldwin and Harries are quality. Tutonda had a good game. The midfield 3 work well, but I feel McCormick may miss out to Oztumer eventually who was far more creative. Hanlan and Daly were both great. Hare subdued first half, excellent going forward 2nd half. This was just brilliant. Is it our best start since coming back to L1? Can't believe some of the fouls we didn't get 2nd half. Well done Ben, it's ALL down to you.
Saturday now becomes a great opportunity to keeo the momentum especially as we have Hull at home next Tuesday. Brave Hanlan for the goal. We have done well in 4 games, before that was pretty horrific. I think to be fair to any manager you would have to judge him over a season. After the Doncaster game I did think he should go, that was based on his appalling record which he tried pinning on referees (which REALLY annoys me). I'm really pleased with the points haul form the last few games , if Garner can get us to were Coughlan left us by the end of the season I will be impressed.

It looks like the beginning of the end to me. Pulling up the drawbridge. f off with it. For a while now I have thought I would just prefer if they just f**ked off and went their own way. Give them the closed shop they want with no relegation and be done with it. I think there is still an appetite for lower league football in this country , I think fans would support it, and a closed Premier League would at least stop some clubs gambling with their futures to get there.

Almond. Studded. Cheeseballs. Up the Rovers! I don't actually know what that means Dave, but I like it!👍 Yep,"getting better all the time" and noticeably. The whole episode of GC leaving, where we were in table, where we we went in table etc etc made it difficult for me - and plenty of others I'm sure - to get into the BG thing. We hav'nt even seen them at the Mem,close up as it were,to get this improvement.I have local connection problems and other technical problems to Ifollow too. This has'nt helped.A strange time for sure.Etc. For the record I maintain GC could of seen us promoted,a baffling Gas episode, but it's no good clinging to a memory when the present eternally remains. It's great to know improvement is happening,'the Garnerball' is happening. I think the improvement will continue and BG will see Rovers become challengers. Although it took a while 😏 ,I'm a believer. It will take more than wins against Northampton & Lincoln to convert me, but I was very pleased to see us come back so well from a goal down. I suspect I wasn't the only one who though 'game over' when we conceded.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54491180kind of backs up my initial post don't know of or have heard of people doing the illegal streaming of EFL games , but guess it does go on even at a tenner I often stream Celtic away games (home ones are on my season ticket and on a very high quality stream) but have never seen EFL games available on the site I use. There has been an awful lot of fuss about the £15 charge for some Premier League games which baffles me slightly. Once the genie got out of the bottle in 1992, it was never going to go back in and the market will continually be tested to maximise profits, that's just how capitalism works. That some fans don't see the correlation between things like this and their continual demands that the owners of clubs should make increasingly 'bigger and better' signings is quite amusing though.

I started watching in 73/74, I can't remember any smell around the ground at all , although obviously many do.
The first references to us as The Gas that I remember where in a couple of different chants, one from City fans 'The Gas, The Gas, we gotta get rid of The Gas' and one from us 'The Gas, The Gas, you'll never get rid of The Gas' I think that would have been late 70s. Also, my wife used to work in a garage, would have been mid 80s, and Harold Jarman was a customer, so I gave her a programme for him to sign and request that he should sign his name and 'Up The Gas' which he did, but he told my wife he had never heard us referred to as that before.

One big proviso on all the excitement. Northampton were absolutely dire. i am very pleasantly surprised by the result. Northampton seem to be a very 'up & at em , in your face' team, exactly the sort of side I thought we wouldn't want to be facing at the moment. Very early days yet, but here's hoping I will have to write a grovelling apology to Ben Garner at the end of the season.

it's the fact that this simple question has been asked many times, but never answered, which makes it interesting Thanks for the reply. I do know, when we entered the draw for the shirt sponsorship, as the FFSC that there were around 120 or more who entered. I think that by entering, you were a member for a year I think you may be confusing the Presidents Club with the 1883 club.

I haven't watched I follow yet, but the general consensus seems to be it is awful ( I have heard this from fans of other teams as well) How can a company get away with charging for a service and not delivering it?

I don’t understand the preoccupation with how many members there are. It was a great idea fior shirt sponsorship which was taken up by many other clubs. What would it mean, to know how many members there are ? I often used to go to away games with them in the Twerton Days, when they would regularly fill a 50 seater. I would be interested to know how many members they have now and when they seem to have declined so rapidly.

Currently I am planning on;
Fri - Victoria Hamburg vs Hamburg Eimsbütteler, Oberliga Hamburg Sat - VfB Lübeck vs Dynamo Dresden, Liga 3 Sun - Altona 93 vs Heider SV, Regionalliga Nord Ost
VfB Lübeck will potentially be the most difficult but, they do have tickets available for this weekends game! If it's a no go then I'll just head to a local game around Hamburg. Changed my flights back so I'll just stay in Hamburg now as well.
Bumped into some Altona fans at a Sutton / Bristol Rovers pre-season friendly. They'd just played Dulwich Hamlet and had some time to kill. It was just before our conference season. Finished 1-1, we had an ex-bcfc1982 striker on trial, and he was pants. I can remember that day perfectly well. If asked by the missus to go to the shop to pick up 3 things, I will invariably come back with 2. It is strange what the brain/memory can process and what it can't. Enjoy Germany. I think Chewy may well have been at that game
