He was, but I had a peek at Uncle Eppers's experimental General Football thread for Brexit, Scum, and Villainy, and I think this engagement upset him, and he now shows as Deleted. Another pity. We ought to be able to deviate onto current affairs without upsetting each other and losing friends, but sometimes we fail in this pursuit. No idea why Darlo took such umbrage at the comment Epping made. I thought it odd too. It seemed that he was annoyed that Epping had assumed he was a Brit, so why he didn't just correct him (if it needed correcting) I don't know.

Dragging out my soapbox again, threads soon go off-track and/or descend into petty, sometimes engineered, squabbles and even insults sometimes personal. It’s hurtful to receive insults (apart for the wind up merchants) and tiresome to observe. Once a thread starts to deteriorate I give up following it and often there is little good stuff to read. Posters should expect some argument, but not insults bordering on bullying. I quite like a robust debate meself, you are right that it shouldn't get personal although, inevitably it can sometimes. I always liked to hear Bambi's side of things because he would often back up his arguments with some kind of reasoning. However, he did like to dish it out but wasn't so good at taking it back . The snowflake

In my opinion the Tyson Fury comeback story is absolutely sensational. He is a brilliant pugilist with the heart of a lion. He has also been an inspiration to millions of people that have had and currently suffer from mental health challenges. In short, the man is a hero and definately the biggest personality and star in sport. I support his wish not to be in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.He does'nt need a back slap from our miserably failing,Guardian reading, WOKE national television station. Well done Tyson! Bugger em! Have you ever read the Guardian?

Some cracking away days Do you really think they'd ever join us in the fourth division? I meant more Basel's idea of a combined pyramid, who wouldn't fancy a Tuesday night in Cowdenbeath?

I'll have a guess at Ronnie Dix for the 1939 goal scorer. I have heard the 'sacked by note' story a few times, but for the life of me I can't remember who it was , Bert Tann maybe? Surely any Rovers away win is remarkable.

No doubt if a championship side got to the cup final in England , the narrative would be 'the magic of the cup' , but in Scotland it becomes 'low standard'. Go figure. As I did say, I know nothing of Scottish football but I’m pretty sure both Glasgow sides wouldn’t be so glorious, in the prem. I’d love to see the FA alllow it Well I guess you can only compare when they play each other. Last English side Celtic played was Manchester City in 2016, drew home and away. I,ve seen them beat Manchester United& Liverpool.

A final, at this time of year ? I know nothing of Scottish football but what cup is this ? Must be a fairly low standard if those players are involved. No doubt if a championship side got to the cup final in England , the narrative would be 'the magic of the cup' , but in Scotland it becomes 'low standard'. Go figure.

Tough Cookie for the South Glos' contingent, Cherry pie for us North Somerset fans although won't it be determined on the geographical location of the playing venue ? i.e The Memorial Ground is in Brizzle so they will be allowed 2000 fans regardless of where those fans may hail from or will the club look at addresses and say, 'nope you aint coming in today' ! The club should be refusing entry to anyone who refers to Bristol as Brizzle

Not photo-shopped? That is utterly priceless. Where can I get one? I'll pay good money. Best regards, supporter of Bristol Rovers FC, formed in 1883. Historic, proud, and never knocked a creditor. Current address: Moral high ground, Epping, Essex. No it’s genuine. My Dad supported them, but liked and watched Rovers as well, as people used to in the 50s & 60s. I ended up with a few City programmes but only kept that one as it makes me laugh! Got it here if you want any pics to annoy people! IPG PS Peterborough goalie was David Seamen. I want that pic!!!

Plenty of footballers would I think disagree with this, especially those who are black, asian, homosexual etc - basically anyone who doesn't conform to the cultural norm whatever that might be. Look at how few black or asian managers there have been. There's no logical reason to explain this, other than they face disadvantages that white people don't. Unfortunately whilst I wish it was otherwise, I do think there is sufficient evidence to suggest there is still discrimination in sport, albeit likely on a more covert and sinister basis than in the past. I also think that Concept is right - it's impossible to isolate sport from politics. as it is also impossible to isolate politics from life. In an ideal world you would be right, but this is far from an ideal world. Your post might be right where the scenario has become impossible to isolate sport from politics, but that's not something I agree with. FIFA have been trying to resist this with no propaganda labels on shirts....I think this is the correct stance. Discourage politics integration is the right way forward. Totally disagree with your post on what players think with regards to race and homosexuality etc, because it's quite easy......can anyone name one potential player that can't get a contract because of their sexuality? Or race?
And to reiterate, if Kilgour was gay, McCormick a racist and Westbrooke a alcoholic, are you seriously expecting no one to cheer their goals...? The basic rule is if you're good enough, you're always going to be in demand whatever your demeanor, even to the extent if you have transgressed the law. Sport is non discriminatory because it's based on ability. No, but then I can't name one single gay player.

Does it really matter? Surely to god we can all cope with going a bit off topic now and then? Going off topic and threads developing in interesting ways are always encouraged. When it results in the utterly predictable name-calling and insults as we stray into politics, it gets tiresome.
I must have missed that then!

Whilst 'taking the knee' (and the reaction to it by our supporters) directly effects Bristol Rovers FC, what we choose to eat post-Brexit does not. With respect, please open a new thread in General Football Chat. UTG.

Just to keep things fair, perhaps the BBC should also post a picture of the $h1t from 1982. I may have to pinch that to annoy a few friends
