Cheers Martin, picked it up today. Has been there a week so nothing wrong with delivery, the postman ignored all your warnings about it being Fragile though! Looking forward to a good read.

And quite right too, but what struck me most was the reference to ''a devastating effect on our promotional chances.''
Don't get carried away now, it's far too early in the season. I'm sure they were meaning promotional as in advertising ourselves.....

I think the reason for his lack of input into the club is perfectly explained by this thread. Can you spell it out for us then? OK. HE'S HELPING TO NEGOTIATE THE Sale OF THE COMPANY THAT WILL MAKE HIM HUGE PROFIT

Chris Jelf is Executive Deputy Chairman, which means he's on the Board of Directors but he still holds an Executive role.
Last I could see re his shareholding was:
18 December 2014
The Company was informed on 17 December 2014 that on that day Chris Jelf, a member of the Jelf plc board, purchased 22,800 ordinary shares in the Company ("Ordinary Shares") into his SIPP at a price of 129.6p per share.
Julie Jelf, Chris' wife, also purchased 33,500 Ordinary Shares into her SIPP at a price of 129.6p
Following these transactions, Chris Jelf is now interested in 2,522,073 Ordinary Shares, representing 2.94% of the Company's current issued ordinary share capital.
2,522,073 shares are currently worth £5,800,767.90.
On top of this, he has share options on 762,339 shares, worth a further net £865,254.77.
Further on top, there's a bonus scheme related to a takeover over a certain threshold. On current prices, if this takeover happens, Chris Jelf could pocket over £1mill cash from this bonus scheme.
Not doing too badly.
I guess that means if he so chooses he could walk away from Rovers and not worry about the money he's "invested" in buying shares in the past? It does seem odd how after being heavily involved in meeting with fans following our relegation he seems to have totally lost interest in the club. Apart from the FD's the BoD now seems to be just NH/BB + EW? I think the reason for his lack of input into the club is perfectly explained by this thread.

They were playing 3-5-2 like us. their left wing-back was high up the pitch but the left center-back was drawn into Taylor, leaving Sinclair free. That's why he got an earful. Shows the limitations of the system, 30 had to go to Taylor because he'd have skinned McNulty alive on the ground, the left back should have been tracking Sinclair but didn't bother. It came from our free kick, remember, the wing-back had no business standing still on the halfway line. That fat f**k is surely not still impersonating a professional footballer?

Sorry about the tedium of this post, but I found it interesting anyway.
Financial services company Marsh are considering a cash offer for Rovers Director Chris Jelf's company Jelf PLC. For a while now, Jelf have been seeking a takeover, with bonuses tied in to finding somebody to buy the company. Shares in Jelf are up 18% this morning, almost doubled in a year.
Could free his time and money up for Rovers if it all works out... correct me if i'm wrong but i don't think he's a major shareholder anymore. He wasn't listed as a major shareholder on their website when I looked earlier on seeing this news. He has though been buying shares at very good prices (compared to todays price). And in bad news Hargreaves Lansdown is listed as holding nearly 7% of shares, whether they hold them as an investment or by way of a nominee account I don't know.

I've always wondered how you could 'sack a board'. Surely the terrace chant should be 'board resign', it scans just as well, and makes much more sense Think you are the only one, other than me, intelligent enough on here to understand that point ....

The only thing I don't get about this is the timing. It would've been better for all parties if this decision had been made on May, DC would've had a far larger group of potential goalies to look at and if SM does want to leave (and he has every right to stay) he would've had far more chance in getting in at another club.
Did DC somehow think SM was going to discover the elixir of youth over the summer?

We need a bit more thinking outside the box. Corner in the first ten minutes get him up there. Though he'll do well to beat that back heeled flick by the Dutch keeper the other night. Only if McCrystal is covering. Do the league rules allow dropbacks? Terrible oversight if dropbacks aren't allowed

Totally agree with Oldie, read the original thread before and after being censored. I thought it was a shame as the response to those sexist/joking posters was very good. Debate is healthy, censorship in my opinion is weak. Sorry mods, you do a great job but I don't agree with the action taken here, even if I did find the sexist remarks embarrassing. None of us were going to moderate the thread. I much agree with you. We were asked to as it caused some upset. End off Gets more bizarre by the minute. Are you saying that mods no longer moderate unless specifically asked?

We really should be able to put this 'Puddy is too short' thing to bed by realising that he is the same height as world cup winners Iker Casillas and Julio Ceasar. Which in at least one of those cases proves you don't need height or any great ability to succeed. You just need to be the last unused line behind 10 very good players.

That thread is like the hokey coney. Still have a good game on Saturday Jo, hopefully someone will stand up to the 'meatheads' if there are anymore inappropriate comments. If not we'll be sure to hear about it on here Saturday night.

Cynical? Haven't you & others said that you wouldn't actually say anything to someone making offensive comments? But fingers crossed it won't happen again. Won't a bunch of absolute jokers. No, as far as I can read, just me. Bu, as usual, you miss the point. To confront numbnuts at football grounds, most of whom have had a few drinks, will change nothing. Its the prevailing attitude that counts, and that is in every sphere of life. Its what we do with that which counts. It appears that your cynicism would predicate total inaction on your part, whatever it is your involvement in greater society may be. Its like drinking Brown Ale, home alone. Sorry the inaction is on your part (not mine) & the others that won't do anything when they find someones actions offensive, oh sorry you all moan on an internet forum. And the prevailing attitude is to do nothing & keep your head down. Yep I can see the world changing already, give yourself a slap on the back. Don't get the brown ale bit? Have you fallen on hard times and no longer able to afford fine wine?

So the issue is she got wolf whistled? There must be more to it than that surely. Wasn't there, don't know. But can't see why there'd be this much fuss for just that. Where I was stood it was the typical meatheaded request for her to remove the top half of her clothing. And you rarely get that when its a bloke. No need to worry though after this thread all those meatheads will have been well & truly put in their place. They won't have the front to repeat it again

You always dislike opinions that aren't your 'facts'. Did you object to the wolf whistles on Tuesday (of course no need to confront anyone over it), from what people are saying you should've been able to hear them in the Home Counties. Whether anyone stands up for Jo's dignity on Saturday or not (OK the thread has proved it'll be not) I'm sure she'll do a fantastic job. It's actually good to see football catch up with the real world and use female physios, rugby managed it long ago. Perhaps that is why so many people were shocked by Jo's appearance on the pitch. I wasnt there Tuesday, and most definitely would not have confronted anyone over doing it Funnily I was at game recently (league) where I over heard the following. moronic male: "Did you know that club has a female physio? She is cute, I would go every week if she was here (I presumed he had little experience of live females and suffered from small man syndrome) Moronic Female, stood next to him. "What did you say? I looking at the players bums" Funny thing also is that tend to agree with you, the perpetual calling out of racism and sexism devalues the issue. I would totally agree with you if racism and sexism was not sadly so very apparent. Sadly professional sport, and especially football has a long way to go You're not the only one posting on this thread who wasn't there on Tuesday. But yep sexism and racism is rife and largely kept alive by those who pretend to be most offended by it. A perfect example being played out in South African rugby now. Racism having been reinforced under Blair's government and Trevor Phillips will out last my lifetime and we're by far one of the most liberal countries in that regard. Still note to self remember there are 2 levels of offense 1 minor offence which is only worth moaning about on the Internet; and 2 real offence where people actually address the perpetrators of the offence. It is only ever the first on this forum. Remember, remember

Or do something after the game to get people to stick around in the stadium bars. For the benefits of doing that on a much larger scale, look at the concert that gets put on at Silverstone after the British Grand Prix - that was mostly instigated to help with traffic problems.
It seems obvious to me that the coaches leaving the ground have difficulty making the right turn into Filton Ave due to the narrow road , the cars parked on it, and the traffic. I suggested to the club that the away supporters should be kept in the ground for half an hour or so to allow the car parks to clear, then when the coaches do leave at least the traffic will have died down. I got the usual reply ......nothing. Think the club was right on that. If I went away and I was told I couldn't leave for half an hour because of people on coaches I'd be fuming
