Great that it’s gone to the final day (I don’t count the BWT, it’s the Charity Shield played at the wrong end of the season). Warwickshire have a few decisions to get right. Declare too late without some incentive for Somerset to go for it and there’s a danger they’ll shut up shop and defend out the day. Make it not challenging enough and there’s a danger Warwickshire will lose. Warwickshire must be favourites esp after the month we’ve just had. But the wicket seems to have been a decent one all match and hasn’t deteriorated at all so it will be hard for Warwickshire to get the 10 wickets they need.

well Lancs got home by the skin of their teeth!! Warks' need to be a bit more expansive i think to give themselves a chance [says he from a rolling keyboard Upped their rate now to just under 5, could be interesting tomorrow if it's a start on time, What an amazing finish that was - gutted I wasn't able to be there today. I was originally planning to. Shows how pressure scrambles brains! I hope for similar excitement at Edgebaston tomorrow. Were there many in attendance at Liverpool? I saw the local news down here and they had a few minutes of the day in the sports section. As it’s South Today they were upset at the result but the ground looked empty. Surely there must have been some fans, but perhaps they were all congregated elsewhere which the camera didn’t show.

Lewis Gregory has just said: "Whether we chase a target is whether it is realistic. We always want to win games of cricket, but the chase has to be realistic. "Warwickshire need to give themselves time to bowl us out." Seems to agree! If you're going jack have a great day. The last day of the season is always exciting to me, and to be there to see it is even better.

272 target looks a competitive declaration,so i would imagine an initial rush of runs, but with nothing to lose then i can see a good attempt from Somerset, and a few nerves in the Wark's camp if S do get to the business end with wickets to play with,,,

That’s a very fair declaration from Warwickshire. 273 off 79 overs. So 3.75 an over needed. Should be an exciting last two and a half sessions. Think Warwickshire are ahead on points and have a real incentive to win. I think Warwickshire always wanted 20 minutes at the Somerset batsmen before lunch. Rhodes obviously listened to Lewis G last night!!

We were going at the rate needed for the first 10 overs and then Briggs got one to bounce and Lammonby went. It’s going to be hard now to stop Warwickshire.

Be nice to see the Lancashire faces droop as the game goes on, if as you reckon it's all downhill for 'set now [are they live on TV ? ]

90/7, they're not even trying. When you look at their record in September you’ll see that they have just been poor. Probably nothing to do with effort. When they had a first innings lead it’s probably not about effort. 🤔

Some very despondent Lancs supporters on Twitter"Somerset should be relegated to minor counties" __" gutless"_spineless and "Cheddar is now banned from our house" Karma 😊 Just direct them to 2010! I guess clubs always look to “blame” others for why they didn’t win. In the end Warwickshire won it but tbh apart from Somerset this month it was a very equal competition and everyone was capable of beating everyone else. Perhaps not the best quality but another great end of season to mirror Somerset v Essex in 2019. Congratulations to Warwickshire.

I notice now that for those who are "facing the ball" will now be defined as "Batters" as opposed to batsmen................gender equality say no more.....

I notice now that for those who are "facing the ball" will now be defined as "Batters" as opposed to batsmen................gender equality say no more..... There's been some great fielding at third person... No more bowling maiden overs too. Sexist nonsense. Zero runs from an over shall therefore be called a "gender fluid LGBTQ+ inclusive over".

I love cricket, and I also love my 2 year old daughter. Anything that makes cricket more inclusive for her as she grows up is more than ok by me. The laws used to refer to fieldsmen. I've never heard anyone use that term. Things change and people get used to it. And fair warning, a number of BBC commentators have already started referring to deep third or short third.

Bob Willis Trophy..... Warks put in Lancs' and at 11:17 they are 12 for 6 wickets after 9 overs !!! Lancs' all out for 78 in 27.5 overs 4 days assigned for this [with one reserve incase of inclement weather!! ] i think Lancs' should be relegated to minor counties for such a spineless display

I've never heard anyone use that term. Things change and people get used to it. And fair warning, a number of BBC commentators have already started referring to deep third or short third. Language evolves and many cricket terms have evolved too over the years - seems reasonable and also not that much of a big deal. Some people will no doubt continue to use batsman which I also don't think is very much of a big deal really. It is a pretty sterile debate. 'Batter' has always been commonly used in the North anyway. Also, to be fair most cricketers have been saying 'third' for years - it's just a shortening. 'Third', 'Fine', 'Square' etc. Fielding positions have evolved a great deal since the names were originally developed and are far less proscriptive. Plus if you play in a side like I do where players have learned the game in lots of different language then sometimes those traditional position names don't mean anything anyway.
Predictable carnage on Day 1 of the BWT - that's what you get for scheduling games at Lords in September/October I suppose. Warwcks looking like they'll end up banking both the trophies at this stage. I like the idea of the BWT but it needs tweaking and proper marketing. At the moment it feels like a form of Charity Shield but at the wrong end of the season.
