A year since we had the pleasure of watching Rovers live beating the Black Cats 2 nil on a Tuesday evening. JCH scored both goals and gasheads went home pleased and excited awaiting the Saturday visit of Ipswich Town.
Then COVID and lockdown came and we have not been back since.
Fully expecting an away win against a form side...let's give them a game like the night at Twerton in 1987 when we thumped them 4 nil.But their players reacted badly to the defeat damaging the dressing room and being charged for it.

I've been waking most morning thinking back to 1974 and 1978 when they put 5 past us 5-1 and 5-0 respectively.
Tomorrow could be a repeat and I might have a few quid on 1-5 at 50/1 with a bit of insurance at 4/1 for the home win.
I wonder where Joey's money will be going?

Joey has never lost against Sunderland as a manager (but of course that was with Fleetwood.)

Think we beat em 0 1 in the Cup in 78 PHE. Not that I can see that happening tomorrow, but just pointing out the ball can bounce in mysterious ways.

Stats v Sunderland are: P33, W11, D9, L13 - We have won 4-0 & 3-1 twice, but have lost 6-1, 5-1 twice & 5-0, we are unbeaten in the last 2 games with them.

Those 2 matches were at Roker, during that 70s period Rovers got good results against Sunderland at Eastville. The other thing I remember about those games were Sunderlands massive away support, that was before the motorway system was completed the journey must have taken 7 or 8 hours, support wise they were a massive club. Happier days.

Nietzsche is quoted as saying "order comes out of chaos" when in actual fact it's from the movie Blazing Saddles. Says it all about Barton.

Last night I dreamt that I had been given a tour of a wealthy ladies frog collection whilst investigating the rape and death of a drag queen.

Joey should chuck the kids in can't do any worse
The 3 W Ward Warwick Walker plus Phillips
Even Hargreaves needs a run out too
Forget the ones who have failed all we are saying is give peace and youth a chance
Joey should praise the ref for his fitness might work in our favour.

Omg!
Is there any offers of help out there when you find yourself agreeing with Hb? Help!?
Yep, why not introduce youth and vigour? These senior players haven't proven their worth with fitness and concentration as a team, why not bring some of that alien word into the mix.....pace? Remember that?
What do we have to lose.. ?
I hope we can get some out the match, but I fear we'll return a 0 in points and a 0 in goals scored. By the day after Easter Monday, we'll be bottom.

I've got a feeling we'll be above Northampton tonight and my hopes of Barton doing a runner will be shattered.

As for youth, they need to be broken in when the club is purring along nicely, not in the throes of a relegation scrap. To be honest, I don't see much in Hargreaves and Walker. One chases a lot and leaves spaces to be exploited. The other is a young version of Bennet: gets his feet in a tangle and drifts sideways and backwards to no purpose.

Not a game to write off. Ben beat them here last year, Garner unlucky to have a win at them earlier in the season.
Sunderland looked pretty much like bare cupboard in that last game. You are playing a L1 team today, not a club, and they have hardly been ripping it up.
Joey has to abandon 3 centre backs and two up front. It’s a tactic that’s relying too much on hustle for joy and not proper control of the match. He needs to focus on controlling the middle to control the game.

Jaaks back. Puts Day on the bench.
Starting for Walker, debut for Martinez.
Barrett makes the bench and it's 2 up front with Ayunga/Hanlan reprising their strike partnership.
An interesting approach.
