Genuine question: Does anyone actually know whether the manager is undertaking any therapy/treatment for his anger issues? I don't know the answer to that. But, perhaps, it might have been done privately? If I were in charge of the Gas world, I would make it a condition of employment prior to JAB joining us. Due diligence.

I think we will have to agree to disagree. Leopards don't change their spots. Not without some kind of behavioural management therapy. His family history and his own long list of indiscretions lead me to believe he struggles with multiple demons. Alcohol abuse, violence, compulsive gambling have all been documented. I sincerely hope Barton does receive therapy and is able to fully rehabilitate. To understand that he is responsible for his actions. In an ideal world he undertakes this process well away from Bristol Rovers FC. You are a lot more forgiving than me. I agree with the gist of the last sentence. But in the real world - a potential employee is never going to be totally free from discrimination against previous convictions, spent or not. Regards, cynical bar steward. I understand your post stance. While the debate is focusing in convictions for violence and extended family, very rarely is it mentioned JAB served a ban for betting scandal!? I mean, come on!? Crimes of violence v crimes of financial gain? Unforgivable.... Got banned for betting in England, then did it again in Scotland. This is the bloke that Bas thinks is smart. He may actually be quite good at betting though. Spread over the 1260 bets that he shouldn't have placed (some of which involved games that he played in himself) he wagered a total of £205,172 and only ran up total losses of £16,708. That doesn't look terrible to me? The Daily Mirror carried out a poll about his ban from all football activity, I thought most would think that the ban was reasonable, but the result seems to have been that 54% thought the punishment was 'Fair' with 46 % thinking it wasn't fair.

I don't know DrF,but I hope so. I think Joe bright enough to understand and stop that behaviour. People in his position can turn it around. They of course must be prepared to look into it and into themselves. Based on what we heard about Exeter, if he is receiving professional help, it doesn't seem to be working yet. Bright. Are you sure? Anybody who views the population with such contempt that they claim to be more intelligent than 97% of people has already displayed a shocking lack of self awareness and a rather unpleasant narcissistic streak. The thing about that being, it's highly unlikely that anybody from the top 3% of most intelligent people would possess such poor judgement as to make such a crass remark. Nothing happened at St James Park.Verbal 'hand bags'. I don't know of this claim 'to be more intelligent than 97% of people' comes from? You don't have to be 'brain of Britain ' to change.Just bright enough to grasp a couple of points or so and want to act on them.

Lead shoes in the dugout would surely help keep him under control until we win promotion

I wasn't there, but someone who was has told me that he had to be held back. That's all the evidence I have, who knows, maybe the person I've known for 20+ years and have always trusted isn't telling me the truth? Ann linked to something the clown posted, I think on Twitter. Not very nice, was it. Here you go, breeding licences for humans as well. Brain of Britain

Maybe they should poll again and call it a 'fairer' people's poll to make it more fair? There you go, hardly gets a mention does it financial irregularities.....? God forbid if he tweeted something naughty when he was a teenager!?

Brain of BritainKlopp and Arteta both had to be held back from confrontation yesterday, it's not exactly unheard of in football. Was JB steaming towards the Exeter bench in full windmilling mode, or was he heading there to have a few words? The "97% more intelligent" may refer to a MENSA score. People post a lot of nasty comments to him on social media, don't dish it out if you can't take it back.

Klopp does have history of that type of thing, I think he could do with some help to try to learn to get things a bit more in perspective, especially with the violent history of the supporters he chooses to act that way in front of. Don't dish it out if you can't take it? That may be good advice for Barton. Let's see if the court decide that Stendel calling him a f***ing scally is all that it took to provoke an assault.

Then as they are held back,no one knows what might of happened. In effect your fears of what could of been regarding the Exeter 'incident',don't actually exist, never did. I've not seen the Angas link but I'll wager it's nothing to get all worried about.

He is patently off of his rocker with such crass comment.

The link is in TWD's post - Brain of Britain. Click it, it's fascinating.
Barton has had anger management previously. Google Joey Barton anger management. Plenty of info there. Lovely chap.

Genuine question: Does anyone actually know whether the manager is undertaking any therapy/treatment for his anger issues? Angas uncovered some references to him undergoing anger management therapy - but I'm pretty sure that was well over 10 years ago. I'll double-check Doctor. Edit: Just seen other comments. It's in an earlier thread somewhere.

Or maybe that was just to build Joey's self confidence re public speaking.

I suspect not tbh, WaQ thinks he's marvellous so I don't see him suggesting it.

I think that the page I linked to which mentions Barton ranting on about how clever he is and restricting people's rights to have children, is the same page that you linked to previously. I just Googled Joey Barton Idiot, and it popped right up.

He probably said it once, but he is a bit of a pantomime villain, so it's probably been reported in multiple places. He knew what he was doing when he wrote that stuff. I think he believes what he said about being intelligent, but writing it was probably just to provoke a reaction.
