Members can now write Joe, Joey, Joseph and Barton without fear of auto-correct. This applies to all previous postings. I did amend the title though.

Mods unaninmous decision to remove auto-correct for the previous manager and move thread to General Football chat. Barton was Bristol Rovers manager, which is my only interest. Why else would I care?

Can I get thread notifications? Ah, I don't know... JeffNZ? The ConceptYou can but it's a little convoluted. Here are the steps to do it: 1. Log on and navigate to where the thread is located. 2. Open the thread you want to receive notifications for. 3. Click on the "Actions" button at the top of the thread. 4. From the dropdown menu, select "Bookmark". Once the thread is bookmarked, you need to configure your notification settings to receive updates: 1. Click on your profile name at the top of the forum page. Select "Edit Profile". 2. Go to the "Notifications" tab. Under "Bookmarks", check the box next to "When a bookmark is updated". 3. Choose your preferred notification method (e.g., email, forum notification). This will ensure you receive notifications whenever there are updates to the thread you've bookmarked.

Updated 16 minutes ago Ex-footballer Joey Barton has been charged with making malicious communications.
The former Manchester City and Burnley player is due to appear in court later this month.
On his X account, Mr Barton, 41, said he had been charged over tweets relating to broadcaster Eni Aluko.
Cheshire Police said the charges concerned messages sent between 1 and 18 January.
In a statement, a force spokesman said: "A man from Widnes has been summoned to court to face charges of malicious communications.
"Following an investigation by Cheshire Police, the Crown Prosecution Service has since authorised the charges for Joseph Barton."
The spokesman said Mr Barton would be appearing at Warrington Magistrates' Court on 30 July.
Ms Aluko, whose full name is Eniolo Aluko, is a 37-year-old Nigerian-born former professional footballer who now appears as a football commentator for television networks in the UK and abroad.

On Sunday, Barton tweeted to his 2.8 million followers: “I’m up next month … for ‘malicious communications’ charge at Warrington Mag (sic) for Eni Aluko tweets.
“Crazy times we’re living in. Haven’t the police got enough on their hands? British system is becoming a Banana Republic. Lawfare used against its own citizens for having a dissenting voice. Not quite North Korea yet but won’t be long. Viva La Revolution.”

www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/jul/30/joey-barton-pleads-not-guilty-malicious-posts-eni-alukoJoey Barton pleads not guilty to sending malicious posts about Eni Aluko Former footballer’s case to be heard on 27 August Bail conditional on no social media mentions of Aluko
Former footballer Joey Barton has pleaded not guilty to an offence of malicious communications in relation to posts directed at the pundit Eni Aluko. Barton, 41, appeared at Warrington magistrates court accused of conveying an indecent or offensive message between 3 and 8 January in connection with posts on X that he made about the former England international. He appeared in the dock wearing a dark checked suit and a navy shirt and tie and spoke to confirm his name, address and date of birth to deputy senior district judge Tan Ikram, as well as to elect for his case to be heard at crown court after entering a not guilty plea. Barton posted after Aluko and Lucy Ward were pundits for ITV for an FA Cup match between Crystal Palace and Everton on 4 January, allegedly comparing them to the serial killers Fred and Rose West. In a follow-up post he compared Aluko to Joseph Stalin and Pol Pot, the prosecutor Joshua Sanderson-Kirk told the court. Barton was told he must appear at Liverpool crown court on 27 August. Judge Ikram said: “Mr Barton, I am sending your case to the crown court. You will appear at 9.30am on the 27th August. I am granting you conditional bail with one condition: that you will not make any mention of Eni Aluko on any social media, and that is either directly or indirectly, or by inference. “I am imposing that condition to ensure no further offences are created. Make sure you are there on time please. If you do not appear, a warrant may be issued. You are free to leave the court.” Barton nodded at the judge as he left the court room with his defence solicitor Richard Derby. Aluko, whose clubs included Chelsea, scored 33 international goals in 102 games before retiring in 2020 and establishing a media career. Barton, a former Manchester City and Newcastle player, was sacked as League One Bristol Rovers’ manager last October after almost three years.

Joey Barton to face trial next year after denying sending malicious messages to female football pundit Eni Aluko
By Andy Russell Published: 12:20, 27 August 2024 | Updated: 12:20, 27 August 2024 The 41-year-old is accused of sending malicious messages to football broadcaster Eni Aluko, allegedly comparing her and Lucy Ward to serial killers Fred and Rose West in a tweet. Barton denies posting indecent or grossly offensive messages on X, containing comments about the former England women's football player with the intent of causing distress or anxiety, between January 3 and 8. The ex-Manchester City and England midfielder appeared in the dock at Liverpool Crown Court wearing a dark checked jacket with a shirt and tie. Former football player Joey Barton is set to face trial next year after pleading not guilty today to sending malicious communications to female football pundit Eni Aluko He spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth. Simon Csoka, KC, defending, said the issues in the case, would be whether the messages were grossly indecent and whether they were sent for the purpose of causing distress. He also said there would be an issue of whether they were sent to the complainant because they were on the public platform of X. Mr Csoka said: 'They were not private messages.' Recorder of Liverpool Andrew Menary KC said a three-day trial would be held on May 19 next year. He granted Barton bail, with a condition not to make any mention of Aluko on any social media. The hearing, which lasted about 10 minutes, dealt with administrative matters ahead of the trial. Barton tweeted after Aluko and Ward appeared as pundits for ITV for an FA Cup match between Crystal Palace and Everton on January 4. He allegedly compared them to serial killers Fred and Rose West. In a follow-up tweet, he compared Aluko to Joseph Stalin and Pol Pot, an earlier court hearing was told. Aluko, who played for Chelsea and England, scored 33 international goals in 102 games before retiring in 2020 and establishing a broadcasting career. Former Manchester City and Newcastle player Barton, of Widnes, Cheshire, was sacked last October as League One Bristol Rovers manager after almost three years in charge, after a run of poor results. Aluko played professionally in England, America and Italy before becoming a television pundit. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13783719/Joey-Barton-face-trial-year-denying-sending-malicious-messages-female-football-pundit-Eni-Aluko.html
