Greavsie plied his trade as a Football League player and then failed in his only role as a non league manager at Torquay when they actually had a few bob. Leave him to coach the youngsters, he's decent in that role. As for Trolls, yes he would need a DOF just like Tisdale always needed one (Not Tommy Non League Widrington though) My number one choice to take over from Joseph Barton would be Gareth Ainsworth and if he was sensible and turned us down then Kenny Jacket who missed out when we appointed Ian Atkins. I bet both have contracts worth far less than our failing manager. Hughton for me. Any views Pop? Wonderful if you could get him to sink so low. I think persuading Gareth Ainsworth would be difficult enough.

Well done to Brandon Hanlon on scoring against Man City for Wycombe tonight.

I can't see that we're in a position to poach or cherry pick (poach cherries?) I've never been of the 'who else would manage us' school: we'd get loads of applications. The problem is sifting out the unsuitable ones (and maybe accepting the uncomfortable but right ones). That problem's obviously particularly strong with us right now because of the last unfathomable appointment. However, I can't see how we would attract someone already in a job. Remember the DC to Leeds thing and folk saying 'he'd be mad to go there because...'? I think we're getting into that territory ourselves. The whole 'we're enabling the release of our potential and you can ride that wave' schtick falls a bit flat as soon as anyone reviews how that's going so far. Adding "...and you'd be working with Mr Widdrington" would thin the talent on offer still further. So, obviously, TW goes. I think then that the DoF model you mention would, as much as anything, add credibility and stability to what seems to be a dysfunctional set-up. "Never mind all that, X is here now". It would need to be someone who expects to be 'hands-off' and in a wise old bird, long-term, back-room role, and is seen to have the same clout within the club as TW miraculously seems to have been granted. I have no idea who these people are, though.

Chris Hughton and I presume Paul Trollope are currently out of work so don't see an issue approaching them.
Gareth Ainsworth would be a major challenge but I would at least try to see if he was interested. The DOF / coach partnership wouldn't work in all cases and it collapsed swiftly with Tisdale and Widdrington when Widdrington sensed that Tisdale wanted his long term DOF Steve Perryman to join him.
I would also try to talk to Kenny Jacket (I still have his number so could dial him by mistake and have a chat to avoid official approaches, football stinks).
If all the above failed I would seek applications (I would regardless) and would probably be surprised at some of the applicants.

Yes, sorry, I had Gareth Ainsworth at the front of my mind when I questioned our ability to poach... but then you mentioned an alternative who would also require poaching, so maybe we're quits. I'm not a salesman at all, so maybe I'm missing something. If we poached, he's the buyer, so what's the pitch? How would this be a good move for him? It has to neutralise the last two years somehow, and then some. That also largely applies to anyone currently resting but whose CV allows that another opportunity will be along shortly. And as for adding in "You'd be working with Mr Widdrington"... From the other side, I'd also get the shakes (on a career prospects and personal note) if the people who recently appointed Barton thought of me next, but that's a different issue.

While jumping to conclusions, it made me think the twat had been sacked. It seems not though. 😢

Always best to be prepared or you end up with knee-jerk appointments like Barton. Get back on your sun bed.

This is probably why he’s been out husking this week trying to raise some spare pocket money

10 points in 10 games is worse. Do one Barton. He didn`t go anywhere near the crowd at full time. Straight across the pitch, shook hands with the officials, and disappeared down the tunnel.

JB P30 W7 D3 L20 F24 A43 23.3% win ratio. Cheerio, cheerio, cheerio. Fingers crossed my Rovers flag will be out tomorrow, and I'll actually be able to wear the blue and white quarters again. I have many Rovers shirts, hung up in the wardrobe, untouched since February 22nd 2021.

Wael will really look foolish if he fails to take action now and the decision gets taken out of his hands by the courts.
