Simplistically you are correct but as we know no details hard to judge If it is the correct outcome. Just because he is a legend does not mean he was best at the job. Will we ever know?probably not. We can argue who should stay or go, but it appears the club are gutting everything with a lot of input from Joey I don't know whether Manse should stay or go, but as I said on twitter to somewhere, just because lots of things are wrong and need to be rebuilt, it doesn't mean some of the old parts aren't still useful and again, i hate to keep saying it, but it doesn't go away, we could be clearing everyone and everything out only for the manager to get fed off in a few weeks so the club better be 100% confident Right now, I think Barton`s as stuck with us, as we are with him. Who else in football is going to offer a job to someone so hopelessly unstable, and who`s taken their previous club down in bottom place?

Well holmes, I did say " Based on his previous character, I cannot think of anyone who has managed in the top 3 tiers who would have been a more abhorrent and divisive appointment." And I'll stand by that. There is no-one worse. But if you want to widen the search out to look at suitability in terms of football success and character. OK. From a purely footballing perspective, both have questionable records in management, though Mr Sheridan has a lot more experience. Mr Sheridan does not have two criminal convictions for violence, and does not have a third hanging over him. He also does not have a litany of other transgressions (that I am aware of). He is not obsessed with the cult of celebrity. So on balance, looking at the character and the degree of footballing success, given the choice of Mr Sheridan or Mr Barton as Bristol Rovers manager, I would chose Mr Sheridan. The appointment may have made me raise an eye-brow. But I wouldn't have been angry. I wouldn't have been embarrassed. I would still have actively supported Bristol Rovers FC. Have another go. Maybe ask some of the 'upstanding people in Manchester and Liverpool' you know to help out. Well a Sheridan pick would have definitely divided the fan base, though maybe for different reasons, and yes as the pubs are opening next week, I might well ask for a few opinions. They've been open since April 12th! Bit bloody cold, but I've been more than my fair share to support local businesses. I look forward to your other suggestions to the appointment that would have been worse than Mr Barton. This game is of course open to all. I'm all for inclusivity.

Far worse. Another factor that nobody seems to be considering, is that the man alledging that Barton might have punched him, is German. If, at any point between September 1939 and May 1945, Barton had cut his head off with a trenching tool, everybody would have cheered.

This game has rules Sir! To confirm: "Based on character and success in management, please put forward the name of anyone who has managed in the top 3 tiers who would have been a more abhorrent and divisive appointment than Mr Barton" So far only Mr Sheridan has been suggested. I have judged Mr Sheridan would have been a better appointment than Mr Barton for reasons stated. Next.

That geezer is far worse. Anyway, let's broaden our horizons and not be 'Little Englanders'. How about this guy? www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/13667024/gustavo-quinteros-groped-testicles-three-match-ban/Does he excite you in any way?

Sorry alftupper but we are not racists nor at war. If my father could walk, side by side, with the former and mortal enemy then anyone can. Yes, I am sensitive to these kinds of remarks but not due to history but because I lived and worked in Germany and loved every single moment. The Germans still feel a need to bloody apologise, that is awful. One, very well educated professor of history told me, Hitler wanted a thousand year reich, I believe it will take a thousand years for most to forgive us. I will never forget that. Warm, friendly, generous and helpful people.

Lets hope that Barton uses this in his defence at his court case.

And "The German" allegedly abused Jose, calling him a Scally.
What I love about Jose is his self-belief. He is convinced that the Trial will strengthen his credentials as a Manager. He said this in a Frosty exclusive.
#prayforJose.

I thought he was basically saying he would be/would have been in a stronger position to get a job after the trial because no club would be stupid enough to hire him with it hanging over him

Any adult should be able to take that & come back but with words, not headbutt & fists. If you believe that to be mitigating then I’m genuinely shocked Talking from experience, the law is that it’s the person who had the first punch, as the guilty one. If this famed video is as clear as some say then even his plea of not guilty will go against him. He has taken a massive risk here. Let’s wait & see, for who did what eh

I have popped on here and see this 💩 and can see that some will go to incredibly silly lengths, to back this alleged attack. Does it matter what country a man comes from in vaughan world ? Sat here in shock. Go on, call me a snowfake, maybe I can then beat someone up and say it’s because they called me names ffs

No idea if it makes it any worse, but the report was that he was called a 'f***ing scally'.
