Wael's TV interview seemed to confirm that Joeybag will be staying on to work his magic across the whole club All is obviously well in the BS7 bunker where the occupants are detached from reality.

I think there might be an intervening 'judge', but in the meantime I think he's been here long enough to demonstrate his managerial chops Why, we will then know whether he should be classed as an overall success or failure... A great example, John Ward, 2nd time round kept us in league 2 and we all wanted him to stay. He then took us to non league next season. By your measure he was a great success....

Managerial stints always end in failure (Sir Alex a possible exception), but mid-terms are supposed to provide good reports

Interesting observation but surely you like most of us are fed up with failure? We appeared to have broken out of that with DC---- but here we are again, and what makes it worse is that we are so much in debt and it seems devoid of sensible ideas on how we build yet another team.

Scotsman David McLean recruited as manager from East Fife in 1929 /30 had another dreadful start winning just two of his opening 15 league games drew 4 and lost 9 but improved a tad but Rovers conceded a then club record 93 goals and ended season just short of applying for re election to the league on goal difference.McLeans side lost 23 league games.

Most fans may be fed up with failure but a sizable minority seem quite content with it. Once we readily accept second best and adopt the attitude of “why bother there’s nothing we can do about it anyway” the club will only go in one direction.

I just think most fans think Joey Barton has the best chance of giving us success. Our biggest mistake was allowing a rookie manager a full control. With a Lennie Laurance type figure in the background it may worked. It's clear Widdrington didn't give that old hand support.

But on what basis do they think he has the best chance of giving us success ? I thought that many years ago, after the Higgs/Buckle fiasco, there was general agreement that Rovers should not go back to trying to spend our way to success by signing journeyman players on high wages and long contracts. But this is exactly what Barton has said he is going to do. In my view a great many fans, certainly the most vociferous ones, saw that Wael had appointed Barton and from that moment onward were fully behind the move because of loyalty to the owner. But from what I have seen and heard there must be a doubt about whether Wael is even sure he has done the right thing. His endorsement of Barton was hardly enthusiastic, it seemed lukewarm to me, and in his interview with Ali Durden the pained expression on his face conveyed the feeling that he is under pressure and not enjoying it.

How do you arrive at the conclusion that of every available option literally none give a better chance of producing success than Barton? In what way is Widdringtom comparable to Lennie Lawrence?

How do you think it will end with Barton?
a) Resignation b) Sacking c) 10 glorious years including promotion to the championship and a Pizza trophy d) Barton being poached by a club higher in the pyramid
With such a livewire it's inevitable Barton will lose it with someone (or some people) at the club. Will it be Wael or will it be those of a less senior stature. Either way someone like Barton lacks self awareness to know that he is the problem or he even has faults

Wael Al-Qadi has put the Club in a ridiculous position. We obviously have a big 're-build' ahead of next season. But we can't do anything because we do not know if the manager is going to be sent to prison after his Crown Court case on June 7th. People who think he can retain the Bristol Rovers managers position whilst in prison need their head examined. Surely we can't allow Mr Barton to start the re-build, knowing that he only has about a 25% chance of a not guilty verdict? A guilty verdict would almost certainly mean a custodial sentence. I've had a JP and an ex-Met officer suggest (given his previous) that the ball-park sentence would be 1-2 years. Obviously this depends on details of the case, which none of us are privy to. There may be mitigating circumstances. Therefore we will have lost at least a month of planning (if Mr Barton is found not guilty). If Mr Barton goes to prison we're back to February 22nd. And that would require a complete overhaul. Brilliant. Nice job Wael.

You don't just get it do you. There may be others out there that might do a better job, but 1) they may not want to come 2) they may want to much money 3) we have had 3 managers already this season. Changing another at this point would probably put most decent managers off. 4)JB was reasonably successful at Fleetwood 5) Give JB a transfer window, then judge him. With respect to Widdrington, if he had took responsibility and stopped Garner going down the "total football" route and changing to much, and acted as a mentor, we might not be in this mess. Trollope got that from Laurance and we all saw the benefits. When he left we saw something similar to what happened with Garner.
