JB's post match interview from Pompey. After slouching on the advertising boards mid-week, the body language isn't good again - head down, scratching his boots on the ground. When posted on the facebook pages, the vast majority of the replies are supportive of JB, saying it was a great interview, and things along the lines of they love he's 'brutally honest' and 'at last we have someone who says it as it is'. Some key lines: "Don't think I'll ever accept that this is a relegation on my CV..." "We could be out here all day, we ain't gonna score a goal with what we've got going on at this moment." "As soon as this season is done and dusted, if I could finish it tomorrow, I'd get rid of them all..." "There's moments where you go: there's nothing we can do about that, we can't coach that." "Look, they're good kids; they're not bad lads." "Empty the whole building out and start again." "We've got a losing dressing room, and I don't like hanging around with losers, I don't like associating myself with losers, and I certainly don't want them in my football club." "The team that turns up in August ... will be unrecognisable..." "People are going to lose their jobs." The problem is, he will have a lot of players still under contract. Are they going to want to work for a manager who has said these things about them? Thanks for providing the transcript highlights. I cannot bring myself to listen to him. Just seeing him in Rovers branded clothing makes me feel nauseous. It is thoroughly depressing. A fair few people appear to have been brain-washed by this idiot. They applaud the fact he "tells it like it is". But all he does is lash out with a never ending stream of excuses and negativity about everyone and everything around him. Note - it is never, ever, ever his fault. For he is the victim. His vision of the future? Would appear to be, "I'm going to burn everything down and start again, trust me". And people are happy to entrust this chancer with the future of our Football Club (should he escape imprisonment)? Jesus wept. Wael Al-Qadi. I'll say it again. You're going to reap just what you sow.

"The problem is, he will have a lot of players still under contract. Are they going to want to work for a manager who has said these things about them?"
It's a very valid question, and applies to every player at some point.
I'm sure no one is going to disagree: there's a very big problem with the playing side of the club?
Actually, I'm neutral bordering on JAB out, but holding in there.....you guys have your own stance.....but what holds me in there with JAB, is : I find his words (post match Pompey) and content very difficult to argue with!?
You might argue this should be kept in house (which alluded to the quote above?).
You might argue it's the wrong time to say it.
You might argue about the integrity behind the words.
But.... it's unfortunate we find ourselves where we are, but the actual words spoken makes sense to me.
(His subs, team selection or set up, sometimes doesn't).

Barton reminds me of one of those managers who is in his position due to association and not because of skill or experience. He has no self awareness. When things are going wrong he blames everyone else even though everyone else can see the failings of an inexperienced skill deficient 'manager'. Employers don't want to work for a charlatan and/or a back stabber.
Truth is Barton can only work with personalities that follow and idolize him. Much like the school bully who only hangs around with the proverbial Rocksteady and B-Bop.
I can only think of a worse managerial appointment being that of the alcoholic immature Gazza at Kettering in 2005.

We need more buttons on pro board, not just a 'like' button, as most of the time these dark days I actually do not like the post, I just happen to 'agree' with the content.

His previous violence shown towards women is abhorrent. A self-destructive, damaged genius who needed help. I note he has continually tried to rehabilitate. He has tried to face his demons. He has admitted his mistakes. He doesn't appear to blame other people for his own failings. So - on balance. Joey Barton is unfit to manage Bristol Rovers, and IMHO is a worse appointment than that of Paul Gascoigne at Kidderminster in 2005.

He deals with life's challenges like his dad dealt with an Alsatian dog that reportedly had a go at him in a playground when he was small. He drove over it with his van and backed over it again just to make sure with his young son looking on. It's time for the club to thank him for his non-efforts and send him packing before irreparable damage is done.

The word judgement springs to mind when you reflect on what's happened at Rovers over the past 16 months. Where did Garner appear from, who highly recommended him to be manager replacing Coughlan, who introduced him to the owner. It doesn't take people long to work out the owners weaknesses, star struck football groupie would fit the description easily. Engage him in social media and your a friend for life, in fact you will find your comments probably have a greater influence than you would imagine on the running of the club. Garner was well prepared for his appointment, he had done all the sucking up hard work before being announced. Just listening to his first interview you knew almost immediately the guy simply didn't have it to succeed as a manager at any level, yes, probably a faithful BBC man at Crystal Palace until Gary Megson worked him out at WBA. Poor judgement in appointing Garner, then we come to Tisdale obviously not the owners appointment but Starnes and boy did Tisdale suffer, the drawbridge pulled up on all fronts by those who should have been supporting him and willed to fail, poor judgement again in either appointing him and then sacking him so quickly. I wonder if this had anything to do with Widdrington wanting the job, he did appear to be very disappointed after the away Gillingham defeat and it came across as if it wasn't just because we lost. Then we come to Barton's appointment, would any other club in the UK have offered him a job knowing he is on trial in June which now is only 6 weeks away, its likely Barton's defence brief has already advised him to plead guilty, it should mitigate what the judge has in mind for him as a sentence and he's seen not to waste court time. The CCTV footage of the attack according to the Sheffield Star is violent, it doesn't sound good regardless and Rovers will be dragged through the national media by association and possibly be looking for another manager in mid June. Going near appointing Barton is again negligent judgement by one man and giving him a 2.5 year contract is even more negligent, the board doesn't exist other than by name. There are many excuses and various people have been blamed for the relegation which given the money spent was almost impossible to achieve but one common denominator has the last judgement word on all that's happened and I'm not sure with the flawed judgement we have witnessed so far has the ability to reverse the trend.

SO.... IF found guilty and gets a custodial sentence, the club will have to terminate his contract?, The FA will ask BRFC to terminate his contract as it will/would bring the game into disrepute? By having to terminate said contract he [jb]will get a decent pay off?

I guess he thinks there's no point having them in for more than the one day now. He's probably taking a few days off to visit his family.

Yes - I thnik irrespective of all else if you take a longer view we have jagged one way then the other and all the way through the decisions made have been baffling. Successful clubs do not tend to appoint people no one has ever heard of as manager. They also don't tend to appoint manager who everyone knows for entirely the wrong reasons as manager. It does not speak to a very steady hand on the tiller to say the least. My issue with the Barton appointment is just as much that it has revealed the club as a clueless basketcase as it is my objectons to Barton himself. It just reeks of a club that hasn't got a clue what it's doing and will latch onto any old nonsense theory or malign influence who can sound halfway convincing on a given day. Hence the lunacy that somehow Barton is an old school type 'telling it like it is' when in truth he's absolutely nothing like that (in fact he is the opposite in that what he has is not character but the absence of it) and would have been completely marmalised and put out on his ear by those type of managers.
