I notice Barton has been talking about player’s standards slipping at the club. I wonder if any of the players will ask him if he thought about his own standards when getting into that altercation with Stendel? That’s the problem with Barton and his past, it makes it very difficult for him to hold everyone else to account without looking like a raging hypocrite. If I was a player being criticised for my standards in the press by a character like Barton I’d equal parts be pissing myself and absolutely fuming at his cheek.

Um, ok...

Apparently Barton was critical of players not being ready to go on as substitutes. My Manchester city supporting mate told me a story about the first time that Barton was going to go on as a substitute, apparently he left his shirt on the dugout wall whilst he warmed up (I suppose he was wearing a tracksuit) and when he came back to put the shirt on someone had nicked it.

Nobody is working hard behind the scenes on a stadium project... In the last 5 years we have had the UWE, the redevelopment of the Mem, The FM and my attempts yet still we haven't seen a sign of any real progress. 5 years down the line we still play at what can only be described as an embarrassment of a facility and our on field performance now matches our off field efforts. We have a training facility being built at a snails pace which some believe will be an amazing facility and others believe will be a 1990's style mish mash that every other club has moved on from 20 years ago....Only time will tell on that as to my knowledge we haven't been shown anything tangible to explain what we are actually getting! (I know where my money would be if you asked me to place a bet on what we end up with). For anyone interested who may have missed it, the latest update from The Quarters.

Nice video to be fair but still none the wiser as to what the training ground will end up with. Pitches look lovely and there seems to be a main building which I assume we hold most of the facilities. Will be interested to see what it ends up like.

Yeah just seen that on the other forum! I guess that might explain his sensitivity to it. But like another poster said aren’t the coaches supposed to keeping the subs on their toes? He made it sound like the first one to be ready would be brought on.

I don’t think anyone is saying we won’t have top class facilities. All we’re saying is there’s no evidence we will have. The video is positive but again gives no indication of what the facilities will be like. If we were really going to have top class facilities I’d expect the artists impression to be battling Barton for top spot in the Twittersphere like the original UWE drawings but I see nothing

Pitches look lovely and there seems to be a main building which I assume we hold most of the facilities. Will be interested to see what it ends up like. First phase - 2 fibre sand pitches and a goalkeeper training area. The blue and white stripey building contains the groundsmen’s store, a gym and a physio treatment room. The clubhouse (the brown brick building) will contain changing rooms, kitchen, dining area, boot room, media room, meeting rooms. Also a car park and at the rear left of the site, a reservoir to act as a store for watering the pitches and collecting drainage water. Proposed second phase - 3G pitch and another grass pitch on the opposite side of the car park. Future phases - accommodation for a caretaker, an extension to the clubhouse will be required if the academy is to move in.

The extra pitches would be covered by the existing permission. Accommodation for a caretaker and any extensions to the clubhouse, will require new planning applications which as far as I know, have not been submitted.

After 17 or so games Paul Tisdale is said to have publicly critised some players - "He's got to go ...". After 1 game Joey Barton is praised for being positive about the team. After 7 games Joey Barton is publicly critical of some players - "Good for him, they need a good kick up the ass ...".

I wonder if Barton still believes he has 20 goal a season strikers on the books or if he’s being asked to pull a rabbit out the hat? It will be interesting when he goes full Paul Tisdale and criticises the recruitment of players who aren’t good enough for the here and now. Last week he was blaming Ben Garners pre season which can’t have gone down well with half the coaching staff

Barton knows time is slipping through his fingers, he is sounding far less positive in each interview, no surprise really as he now understands the quality and depth of what he has to work with, injury's are also not helping the cause. I think we are going down and taking an angry Barton kicking and screaming with us.

Plenty said before a ball was kicked this season that not only was it beyond daft to keep Garner, but also that the squad just wasn't good enough. Here we are, 2 managers and a full transfer window later, same squad, still losing most games. Maybe the biggest surprise of all is that the person in charge of identifying players to recruit is still here, how, why? Wael seems trigger happy with sacking people, yet this bloke has made a disastrous mess of things, it's laid bare in public, everybody can see it, and he's still employed. I don't get it.

Agreed, And now we have Barton and his management team, mixing it up with the existing management team, you just have to wonder what the hell is going on?.

So based on the fact he came in knowing what he inherited and the belief he could deliver with this squad, at what point does Barton take any responsibility for results? I’m interested to hear whether today was down to the ref, the subs readiness, social media or Ben Garners pre season?
As for Tommy, is he still here? The club rarely reports when directors leave and we haven’t heard a peep since the scouse Tyson Fury arrived, so maybe he’s b&ggered off back to non league?

So lucky to have him. His managerial nous in selecting Hanlon (who only falls over) and playing three at the back (ehich didn’t work for Garner and Tisdale) is so far beyond my comprehension

Barton has been able to manipulate Gashead’ opinion of him with consummate ease.
He has persuaded many that he is a likable rogue, when in fact he is a violent man with a criminal record, and that he is a successful league 1 manager who can achieve more here than he did at Fleetwood, when in fact his 6th place finish there was achieved with a wage budget far higher than he is likely to get at Rovers. I do wonder whether the impression gained during his first meeting with Wael last Saturday is the reason for the change of tone this week and his open criticism of the club’s culture ?

I think we are going down and taking an angry Barton kicking and screaming with us. As a manager in the lower leagues your reputation is all about today. Look at how D.C. came back into management in league 2 despite back to back promotions and a steady performance at league one level. If we go down Fleetwood will basically be expunged off Barton’s record and he’ll simply be known as the guy who couldn’t keep Rovers in league one and he’ll be looking for someone to take a punt on him in league 2. In any event the only people who seem to value what Barton did at Fleetwood is Wael and the denizens of Gaschat, no credible chairman is going to want him just for that considering his reputation. Given the above it’s no wonder that Barton has now changed his tactics and from buffing his players confidence to now trying to distance himself by insinuating that everything at the club was a mess when he got here, sending the message loud and clear to potential employers “it’s not me guv, the club is ****ed”. He’s undoubtedly not wrong but is he totally without judgement himself for the results? The players aren’t good enough but he doesn’t help himself by playing the likes of Hanlon and Ehmer who are like playing with 10 men. His game management seems to leave a lot to be desired too as his subtítutions seem to hinder more than they help. He is exactly what he looked like on paper: a bang average manager but one who talks a good game and he has seduced a lot of the fanbase by talking tough which is what they wanted to hear. They simply wanted passion over managerial skill and boy did they get that. One can only wonder what sort of Barton we’ll get as the end of the season and his court case approaches.
