I think toxic turd recently achieved more coaching qualifications, or is about to. I think a FC with a few bob might hire him as Manager. Depending on who was available on hiring ,I would give him a job as manager. The football he got Rovers playing was at times fantastic, that of a high level. The comedown in the quality of football since he left is in part why I feel Rovers have entered a 'dark age'. On considering what abject failiures Managers Messrs Lampard,Rooney,John Barnes,Gary Neville etc were, then i am absolutely sure toxic turd is a better manager than that lot ( maybe Wayne Rooney will yet succeed at Argyle ). A 2nd tier FC would suit a return for toxic turd. I am happy to put 100 quid on it that he will never manage a football club again, unless a pub or celebrity team. He has shown his dark side on X. He is a toxic human being who deserves all the karma coming I agree KP. But not sure about the celebrity team. What ‘celebrity’ would play for him as he seems to be working his way through everyone being unpleasant to most of them because they are ‘celebrities.’ UTG!

So most people give credit to toxic turd for bringing Elliot Anderson to Rovers. Fair enough. Excellent scouting? Or just luck? Well, just back from a weekend in Bristol and in a bizarre coincidence I had a meeting with a certain Mr Anderson (a relative of Elliot's). Big Newcastle fan. He said toxic turd approached Shola Ameobi and was looking for a CB. Shola said none available. But that a loan move to Luton had just fallen through for Elliot. toxic turd said he wasn't looking for a mid-fielder and thought he was too light-weight. As the window was about to shut Shola went back to toxic turd and had to persuade him to look at Elliot again. Shola said that if Elliot played. he would be the best player in the team. And the rest is histoire. But 'inspired loan signing'. Nah. Haway the Lads.

Joey Barton has apologised to Jeremy Vine and agreed to pay him £75,000 in damages for making defamatory comments on social media.
A High Court judge ruled last month that comments former footballer Mr Barton made about Mr Vine on X were defamatory.
Mr Barton said in a statement on Tuesday that he apologised “for the distress" Mr Vine has suffered.
In the statement, shared on X, Mr Barton wrote: “Between 8 and 12 January 2024 I published 11 posts which accused Jeremy Vine of having a sexual interest in children, and created a hashtag which made the same allegations, which were viewed millions of times.
“I recognise that this is a very serious allegation. It is untrue. I do not believe that Mr Vine has a sexual interest in children, and I wish to set the record straight.
“I also published posts during the same period in which I referred to Mr Vine having advocated forced vaccination during the Covid 19 pandemic, based upon a video clip of his TV programme.
“I accept that he did not advocate this policy and that the video clip has been edited to give a misleading impression of what he was in fact saying.
“I then taunted and abused Mr Vine for bringing a legal complaint against me. I have agreed not to make the same allegations again about Mr Vine and I apologise to him for the distress he has suffered.
“To resolve his claims against me in defamation and harassment, I have agreed to pay Mr Vine £75,000 in damages and his legal costs.”
Warning: this article contains strong language
The former Premier League footballer turned manager Mr Barton, 41, had called Mr Vine, 59, a "bike nonce" and "pedo defender".
In a High Court ruling last month, Mrs Justice Steyn ruled that 11 posts could defame Mr Vine, who works for the BBC.
Mr Vine's barrister, Gervase de Wilde, told the court earlier this month that the abuse began after Mr Vine responded to one post in which Mr Barton compared football pundits Eni Aluko and Lucy Ward to serial killers Fred and Rose West.
That prompted the broadcaster to ask whether Mr Barton, who was manager of Bristol Rovers until October last year, had a brain injury.

presumably he'll have his own legal costs to cover as well - which I'm guessing won't be tiny

presumably he'll have his own legal costs to cover as well - which I'm guessing won't be tiny this is the backdrop - tt had a KC. That won't have been cheap... A High Court judge has ruled that comments toxic turd Barton made about Jeremy Vine on social media were defamatory. The former footballer was sued by the radio and TV presenter for libel and harassment over 14 posts on on X, formerly known as Twitter. After being asked to rule on the "natural and ordinary" meaning of the posts, Mrs Justice Steyn ruled on Friday that 11 of the posts could defame Mr Vine, who works for the BBC. She said the "strong impression" from the words was that the term was being used in its "primary meaning to allege the claimant has a sexual interest in children". The ex Premier League footballer turned manager Mr Barton, 41, had called Mr Vine, 59, a "bike nonce" and "pedo defender". In the judgment, external, Mrs Justice Steyn explained: "While I do not consider that the hypothetical reader, who would read the post quickly and move on, would infer a causative link, ie that the claimant defends paedophiles because he shares the same propensity, the juxtaposition of the words 'nonce' and 'pedo' is striking and would reinforce the impression that the former was used in the sense of 'paedophile'." She said a reader would have understood the word "bike" to be a "meaningless aspect of the accusation", used only as an indication that this was a label attached to Mr Vine, who was known as a cyclist, "without detracting from the operative word 'nonce'." Mr Vine's barrister, Gervase de Wilde, told the court earlier this month that the abuse began after Mr Vine responded to one post in which Mr Barton compared football pundits Eni Aluko and Lucy Ward to serial killers Fred and Rose West. That prompted the broadcaster to ask whether Mr Barton, who was manager of Bristol Rovers until October last year, had a brain injury. The court heard that since late-2023, Mr Barton began a series of posts criticising women involved in football and football punditry. Mr Barton - who appeared for clubs including Manchester City, Newcastle and Queens Park Rangers during his playing career - then published several posts about Mr Vine over the following days to his 2.8 million followers on X at the beginning of January. Mr de Wilde told the court that the term was trending on the platform, described the former footballer's actions as a "calculated and sustained attack on Mr Vine", and that the posts had "clear references to (Mr Vine) having a sexual interest in children". Mr Barton's barrister, William McCormick KC, said the posts contained "vulgar abuse" but did not libel Mr Vine.
He added that the posts represented "someone who is posting in the heat of the moment".
Mr McCormick said in written submissions that references "aka bike nonce" was an "obvious attempt at humorous abuse of Mr Vine".

That breaks Forum rules. This is a warning to moderate your language. Next time you will face a ban.

The ever-reliable Daily Mail reports today that £75k is not the end of the matter - it covers the ‘first 5 tweets’, but not ‘tweets 6-10’ per Jeremy Vine
Which should give them more to report on

Apologies for people having to copy&paste and take out toxic turd and replace with the former managers forename. Samuels Solicitors: "J Barton has today published a public apology to Mr Vine in the form of a Pinned Tweet, in which Mr Barton apologises for defaming and harassing Mr Vine and acknowledges his agreement to pay Mr Vine £75,000 and his legal costs. This post by Mr Barton is only the first step in the settlement of Mr Vine’s legal claims against Mr Barton. As part of the process begun by the publication of the Pinned Tweet, Mr Barton is also required to participate in a Statement in Open Court, in which he will make a comprehensive formal apology to Mr Vine, and to give undertakings not to repeat his conduct. As part of a separate settlement, Mr Barton is to be required to pay Mr Vine a further sum of £35,000 in damages, pay additional legal costs, publish a second Pinned Tweet for 14 days, join in another Statement in Open Court, and to give further undertakings to Mr Vine. The £75,000 in damages is compensation in respect of Mr Barton’s repeated publication of the false allegation that Mr Vine has a sexual interest in children. This was the subject of a ruling by Mrs Justice Steyn on 24 May, in which the Judge for the most part rejected Mr Barton’s arguments that his publications on X did not bear that meaning. The separate settlement and payment of the additional sum of £35,000 arises from Mr Barton’s conduct after Mr Vine initiated proceedings. Mr Barton responded to being served with Mr Vine’s claim by making additional damaging and untrue publications about Mr Vine and his legal complaints, including by making statements in a crowdfunding page which he has now admitted were false. He also expressed a wish for Mr Vine to be run over while on his bike and disclosed Mr Vine’s home address to his followers.
Mr Barton’s conduct gave rise to additional claims for defamation, harassment and invasion of privacy. Mr Barton’s attempt to argue that these claims were also resolved by the first settlement and the payment of £75,000 were subsequently rejected by the Court. Mr Vine is pleased that his claims have been resolved and that he has been vindicated in respect of Mr Barton’s appalling allegations and conduct. Samuels Solicitors, in conjunction with 5RB, are instructed by Mr Vine. Contact us for further assistance." So Barton also has to apologise in person. I would bloody love to hear that. £110k + damages. LOL. Is there anyone left who does not find find Barton an utterly disgusting individual who should NEVER have been allowed within a country mile of the Football Club? Shame on you Wael Al-Qadi. Shame on you Tom Gorringe. I hope you both disappear from BS7 as quickly as physically possible.

Why do so many read or listen to J o e y B a r t o n? I've never understood this attitude towards so called influencers. People who trade opinion instead of fact and that their so call followers count opinion as more valuable than fact even though often there is no evidence to back their opinion.... Like our former manager, when challenged they more often than not come completely unstuck.

'Influencers' are usually advertising ops. Journalist's opinion columns are sometimes worth reading. When far better read than I am.
