I'm can't understand why people are still discussing the merits of this despicable individual. The Kuwaitis have shown some mettle and removed the fishes head, now finish the job of properly and clean out the rest of the lower pond life that have polluted the club for the past two and a half years.

Arguably though we were also a soft touch under him too. How many games did he lose during his time with us? Something like 60/140. Agree though that being tough to beat is a thing of beauty. Gerry Mk1 and Coughlan were the best managers i can remember in this respect There were times when we looked a real team, the promotion push especially, Port Vale away, even that good run we had up to xmas last season. It was starting to click. We are only 4 games back from beating Wigan 4-1. Seems like ages ago now. Consistency is his biggest failing imho. I could be wrong here but my impression is that during the promotion push we kept pretty much the same system which was working and made minimal changes. Players understood their roles and it was a lot easier to make the odd change due to injury or suspension. Since then Barton appears to overthink things because he believes he is a tactical genius. We therefore either start or end a game badly and only rarely boss a game for 90 mins. Doesn't help either that he discards good players like a kid bored with his toys. Agree though that when he gets it right and everything clicks we look invincible. Just doesnt happen often enough aside from that run after christmas in the promotion year

Time to change the ‘is’ in the title of this thread to ‘was’. While there is a petition in place and his fans calling for him to come back, we better leave as it is for the moment!!

Bloody hell, yeah. Even The Sun: hardly wokey dokies, The Sun. Good riddance of Barton. Spent and failed at Fleetwood, spent and failed at Rovers. Shamed both.
Bristol Rovers can be a football club, not just a football company, recruiting good people to do good things, inspiring and impressing. Let us please remember that in recruitment. We want something to support, not just to succeed, not that Barton did.

Never though I’d read something by that rag and agree, wholeheartedly I know, right? It's amazing the polar opposites capable of agreeing on the fundamental awfulness of a man. It's lovely that this is behind us.

So, this 'newspaper' that has very little circulation in Liverpool due the shameful reporting of the Hillsborough tragedy is now throwing stones at Barton.
A chance for them to gain some scouse retribution maybe with bad boy Barton as the fall guy....both Barton and The Sun are a disgrace, the sun would do well to take a long look at its own reputation before embarking on such lazy journalism.

Today's the four year anniversary of my last match at Rovers, the third round draw with Coventry City, which I enjoyed from the back of the Memorial Ground's East stand, Saturday 5th January 2020. A pandemic then shut everything down before I returned to Bristol. Then the 22nd February atrocity of 2021 meant all three generations of shoveler not returning until that manager's removal. Walter Al Qadi is a sucker and a fool, favouring big name Premier League social media celebrity over decency and dignity. I am relieved he has little apparent influence now either. Good riddance to the both of them. I'm done with this thread now, finally. I will enjoy supporting Rovers at Carrow Road tomorrow. Joey B***** was unfit to manage Bristol Rovers, and Wael Al Qadi was unfit to be Rovers' President. Good night. Edit: poor bluetornados below seems unable to see the Gas references above. Here they are, for anyone willfully blind to them. If you're not interested, read something else, man. You've both lost your minds if you think this isn't about Rovers, or should be removed from Guzzler. Surely this thread should be moved to the General Football Chat section.... Fair point. I vote 'yes'. JeffNZ Cheshiregas - what do you think? Even when the sanitised version "B*****" is mentioned, I still get a whiff of canine excrement. I note the previous manager has "upped the anti" on social media. I believe it is probably best to deny that 'thing' oxygen.

Alright then, do as you must. I give up. I had no idea that ducks had such thin skin. Must help the power to weight ratio when flying. Adios.

one person's 'moving on' is another's 'sweeping things under the carpet'
we still talk about Prince-Cox, Tann, Ford, Dodgin, Megson, Ollie, Williams, Graydoom, Trolls, Atkins, DC, Cogs, Garner, Tis and the rest on here. I understand the embarrassment or shame about B*****, but let's not pretend

Shame that Shoveler has departed (good riddance actually).
Hoist on his own canard.
I was saving up the information that 'mestolone' in Italian means both:
(i) shoveler duck (ii) oaf, dimwit.
Sums it up entirely, does it not.
Mind you, he knew this anyway through his 'Italian for Simpletons' (Mad Hatter Press 10/6).
