Me old Duck you are absolutely right he should never have been appointed in the first place. He will be gone in a season or two, in other words, once he got us into the Championship, as by his own admission, he wants to manage at the top level.
Please bear with, normal service will be resumed very shortly.

Birds were hardly prevented from attending; our normal means of entrance and egress bypassing turnstiles. But during shutdowns you're quite right, it must have been via laptop HDMI to TV on which Tisdale's Rovers are vaguely recalled. I therefore did not stop attending, but stopped... subscribing(?) when the uninspiring character of Tisdale was replaced with the unacceptable one of Barton. The point remains that he keeps good Gasheads away.

My age and memory failure, not yours, indeed. Regarding the earlier noting of about twenty-five regular Gas Guzzler posters, there were far more regulars writing on here before Barton's appointment and especially the intra-Gashead hostilities that followed, so this too supports the point. I retain a real respect for those who disagree without bullying other Gasheads away from Gas Guzzler, even if said positions baffle me.

Perhaps those lost posters of the per Barton era got fed up with hearing (reading) all the anti Barton bile.

There are only 80 tickets left for the Thatchers End for the first game of the season, which is still 4 weeks away. Talking to people at Melksham the other night, there were people who had bought season tickets, whereas in the past they have been attending as and when. What JB's team achieved has made them want to secure a place in the ground, and the club have more money up front, which helps with budgeting.

It's many opponents to Barton's appointment who are missing from Gas Guzzler. It's from Barton fans that all hostility and bile has come on here. I am tolerant and interested in different views: it is Barton fanatics who are not. It's successful and improved football, albeit in a lower division, plus the pandemic reduction, that increased attendances. It's increasingly difficult to dissent from the Barton celebration, as many of us have given up.

I've seen hostility and bile from both sides, I've certainly been on the receiving end of some myself in the past. Not sure what you mean by the pandemic reduction increasing attendances?

I do recall a couple of posters getting upset and quitting the forum after we beat Northampton in November 2021.

I just read the match thread for that game. Quite amusing.

This thread shows exactly why so many dissenters no longer participate here. Dissent from the ever changing views of a clique of matchday drinking partners need not result in this gloating passive aggressive attempted bullying. You can revel in appointing a manager awaiting trial for smashing another manager's teeth in, and then rewarding said manager while now awaiting trial for kicking his wife's head in while Rovers manager, without this.

Nothing wrong with the majority of Gasheads allowing themselves to be carried away on a tide of emotion but surely it goes against the grain to gang up on anyone who chooses not to go with the flow ?
I always considered Rovers supporters a good hearted bunch with a sense of fair play.
