As above get well soon Epping. Interesting to get your take on the two clubs you mentioned in the Essex Senior League. I’m presuming if you heard it so must everyone else in the near vicinity. And that might have included any ESL officials. Does no one take any notice of behaviour which sounds extreme? The odd swear word is something, that sounds something very different. I’ve seen a few Dorset County League and Wessex League matches and have heard nothing like that. UTG! Thanks Wareham. Believe me - every single player, official and attendee would have heard the language used. The crowds in tier 9 are kind of anywhere between 25-30 to a couple of hundred. So I guess very unlikely that the ESL would be regularly monitoring. I guess it's up to the match officials to report to the ESL. I was chatting to a chap recently who runs the lines in the ESL and when I mentioned Sawbridgeworth he rolled his eyes...

Absolutely. As a keen runner/cyclist/drinker, I find it doesn`t take much inactivity for my fitness levels to drop. Hope you`re back on the bike soon.
Broken clavicle - not a massive injury - but no cycling or driving for 6-8 weeks. This after 10 days Covid self-isolation. My hopes of making the Tour de France would appear to be receding. The clavicle is on the mend. The chest infection I picked up is about 10 X more painful. Cheers! Did a black cat cross your path or something? Jeez Epping, that's a trio of bad luck. Hope all is tonnes better soon.

Are there examples where other ex footballers/managers, similar in character ‘history’ as Barton, have actually gone on to redeem themselves and become a respected role model?

Probably loads Chelts, but the man that 'springs' to mind is our own and sadly recently deceased Andy Spring. From some crime,to winning awards working for prison services. Rest in Peace Andy Spring.

There are various examples. Both Woodgate and Bowyer became managers. Its not actually that Barton has made mistakes - its that he has repeatedly failed to learn from his mistakes and show genuine contrition or remorse. In fact, he actually joked about one of his previous assaults in a club interview. But apparently large parts of our fanbase have no issue with this?

I started this thread one year ago today. Barton was appointed on 22nd February 2021. Sad to say, I have nothing further to add. Barton is unfit to manage Bristol Rovers.

Well if you still think that after the turn around and where we are currently and how we are playing then you are being rather silly.

Go away with your negativity and join a “It’s not fair” moaning club. A bit like the Brexit deniers on Asschat.

On a football note:
3 consecutive wins, 4 games without conceding, 1 defeat in 11, even nearer to the play offs, best football we've played since Darrell.

Maybe it is time to reflect and not be quite as stubborn. Sure there are aspects of his character that may be questioned, but undoubtedly he is starting to deliver on the fir=eld, and i hope behind the scenes something to build on. He has the strength of character to make changes for our club for the better....

We have achieved nothing yet and we have a lot of players that will have to have their contracts negotiated plus loan players. I can’t get overexcited about things as they are because we are not able to say we will have the same team, next season. Yes, good performances but based upon a team that will be changed and i am not going into the possibility of our better players moving

So.... IF Barton gets this lot promoted...the scenario then becomes.more awareness from other " bigger" clubs saying if he can get a tin pot outfit into the next division let's snap him up ,and without doubt he will be gone, we are small fry (with potential) but no real achievements behind BRFC historically.. very recent scenario is the Plymouth manager, goes to PNE,with as yet very little improvement in their situation in the Championship, Plymouth meanwhile are still in a relatively good position to make at least the PO's..whose to say that won't happen with JB it's taken him a year to get to where he announced he would
