For all the positivity currently radiating around the place we still have the very real possibility of Barton getting sent down in March and then facing up to the negligence of appointing him in the first place.

I started this thread one year ago today. Barton was appointed on 22nd February 2021. Sad to say, I have nothing further to add. Barton is unfit to manage Bristol Rovers. Maybe it is time to reflect and not be quite as stubborn. Sure there are aspects of his character that may be questioned, but undoubtedly he is starting to deliver on the fir=eld, and i hope behind the scenes something to build on. He has the strength of character to make changes for our club for the better.... 'May be some aspects?' That's quite the understatement, isn't it? The fact is that when I started supporting the club, John Ward was our manager. A fundamentally decent man who was respected in the game. Since then we have employed people like Trollope, Holloway and Clarke, who I would also place in this category. During the subsequent period, we have almost always been below the other club in the pecking order. But the one thing we have had to our name is the fact that we are a family club with a sense of fair play and a fairly decent fanbase. That has now gone, and for the next few decades we will inevitably be known as 'Joey Barton's Bristol Rovers'. From the very start, Barton dragged our club into the gutter. Making unsubstantiated claims about the professionalism of previous manager, making snide comments about club employees (and then being surprised that they wanted to leave the following season) and making idiotic references to historical events that he barely understands. But apparently our fans are happy to put this aside for 9th in League 2? They should have more respect for themselves and the club they claim to support.

I held the same view as Shoveler but during this close season I decided life was too short and one man shouldn't spoil my 50+ years of supporting Rovers. I still wanted JB gone mind because of results, but now..

I really find it difficult to understand so much about the changes in the club and the apparent change in taking on this manager and giving up on our family club tag. I am missing the games but I do want to see the game on Saturday. The irony being is that I cannot get a ticket in the poplar seats , which is where the group I go with sit. If anyone knows of the possibility of a ticket being available then please let me know as I want to see and feel the game rather than on TV. I will always want Barton gone but, like some, I’m starting to think life really is too short and I feel like going. Thanks in advance You don’t get if you don’t ask

Thanks in advance You don’t get if you don’t ask But you've set your stall out very clearly. You're in the 'No Rovers for me whilst Bartons in charge' camp. Just because use were having a bit of success you're asking round for tickets against Exeter? Shoveler will never speak to you again, or perhaps he intends donning a false beard and moustache and going himself. This all reminds me of Mark McGhee when he revealed he disguised himself to come and watch us when he'd been offered the job. Apparently he felt ashamed that he was lowering himself to take charge of a 4th Division club and felt embarrassed to be rcognised.

One part of a sentence in this diatribe immediately stands out to me. 'We used to have a fairly decent fan base' So, because not everyone shares your view on one man and are enjoying going to watch Rovers, the regular 6-7 thousand people who go are no longer decent people? Who the F do you think you are to go making judgements like that? What patronising arrogance.

Thanks in advance You don’t get if you don’t ask Talk about double standards, perhaps they don’t want you to sit with them anymore after ditching BRFC,by all means you can think what you want about JB but he won’t be here that long, how long does a manager average managing at a football club? BRFC I support whatever and ride out all the nonsense that goes on at the club UTG

I been going since Eastville and nothing will stop me supporting BRFC,I look forward to every match whoever’s manager or wearing the shirt, you probably moaned about all our owner’s and managers but they all eventually move on,so just go support the gas and enjoy the football and stop all the crap you go on about.UTG

Broken clavicle - not a massive injury - but no cycling or driving for 6-8 weeks. This after 10 days Covid self-isolation. My hopes of making the Tour de France would appear to be receding. The clavicle is on the mend. The chest infection I picked up is about 10 X more painful. Cheers! Did a black cat cross your path or something? Jeez Epping, that's a trio of bad luck. Hope all is tonnes better soon. Remarkable insight Sir. I was going 20-25 mph (downhill!) on Tawney Lane when a semi feral black cat ran out in front of me. Swerved, braked too hard. Wheeeee, splat. You don't think, you react. If I hadn't swerved I would have killed it. The cat just took a glancing blow. I checked with the (sort of) owner of the cat - it's doing fine. Apologies to bored readers, none of this is Gas related. I never used "the B word" once.

Joey apparently tweeted this about Ukraine: Getting banned from playing football is the worst punishment known to man. Surely, Russia/Putin will stop now.
He should know about being banned.
Surely not even that clown would be so crass.

My opinion (now - was different in October) is that JB gets judged on both his on and off field activities at the appropriate time.
By the end of May we will have a definitive answer on both counts. When that moment arrives, let the judgement begin!

Joey should realise, but he seems to be a slow learner, not to post things which may be misconstrued.
