Sunday 11th August 2024 - The Hundred Men - The Kia Oval, Kennington - Oval Invincibles Men won the toss and decided to field
London Spirit Men - 96 all out (92 balls) Pepper 27, Dawson 14, Lawrence 12, Zampa 4-17, S.Curran 3-10
Oval Invincibles Men - 100-1 (63 balls) Cox 61 not out, Malan 29 not out, Stone 1-16
Oval Invincibles Men win by 9 wickets
Match report by Sam Drury, BBC Sport journalist.Adam Zampa took 4-17 as defending champions Oval Invincibles thrashed London Spirit by nine wickets to close in on a place in The Hundred final. The Australia leg-spinner sparked a collapse that saw Spirit go from 40-1 to 96 all out with only three batters reaching double figures. Invincibles then romped to victory with 37 balls to spare as Jordan Cox, recently called up to the England Test squad, bludgeoned his way to an unbeaten 61 from 30 balls. Cox hit nine fours and his second six - smashed back over the bowler's head - sealed a comprehensive win. England all-rounder Sam Curran also played a key role for Invincibles, taking 3-10 from 15 balls, while Tom Curran picked up 2-21. Invincibles are two points clear at the top of the table, ahead of Southern Brave, and now have a significant advantage in terms of net run-rate as well. A top-three spot has been clinched and a win over Trent Rockets on Wednesday evening would secure their place in next Sunday's Lord's final. Already eliminated Spirit stay bottom of the table. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/96/Oval_Invincibles_logo.svg/200px-Oval_Invincibles_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/65/London_Spirit_logo.svg/200px-London_Spirit_logo.svg.png

Sunday 11th August 2024 - The Hundred Women - Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester - Manchester Originals Women won the toss and decided to bat
Manchester Originals Women - 151-3 (100 balls) Mooney 99 not out, Wolvaardt 26, Bryce 13, Smith 1-32
Northern Superchargers Women - 134-8 (100 balls) Litchfield 45, Sutherland 26, Wareham 25, Bryce 5-13
Manchester Originals Women win by 17 runs
Match report by Mike Peter, BBC Sport Journalist.Beth Mooney hit an unbeaten 99 as Manchester Originals beat Northern Superchargers by 17 runs in the women's Hundred competition at Old Trafford. The Australian opener struck the second highest score in the competition's history as her side made 151-3, a target the Superchargers proved to many, finishing on 134-8. The Originals had suffered the disappointment of being eliminated from the competition by the Invincibles-Spirit result earlier in the day, but will have enjoyed keeping their local rivals from moving top of the table. The home side won the toss and their decision to bat proved a good one, as Mooney and Laura Wolvaardt put on 60 for the first wicket. Linsey Smith had Woolvardt stumped, but Mooney accelerated, scoring 51 of the 67 runs in a partnership with Kathryn Bryce. Originals retired Bryce (13 from 21) with 10 balls to go, replacing her with Sophie Ecclestone, but the England spinner was run out from the final ball of the innings attempting the second run that would have taken Mooney to her century. The Superchargers lost openers Davina Perrin and Hollie Armitage for single figures in their reply, but the Australian pair of Phoebe Litchfield and Annabel Sutherland put on 41 for the third wicket. Kim Garth bowled Litchfield and Eve Jones caught Sutherland off the bowling of Bryce to see the Superchargers slip to 102-4. Georgia Wareham kept the Superchargers in the match, hitting Danielle Gregory for three fours. But Bryce returned for the final set, combined with Mooney to complete a hat-trick, seeing Alice Davidson-Richards caught and Kate Cross stumped, before removing Wareham two balls later as Superchargers fell well short of their total. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/49/Manchester_Originals_logo.svg/200px-Manchester_Originals_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/88/Northern_Superchargers_logo.svg/200px-Northern_Superchargers_logo.svg.png

Sunday 11th August 2024 - The Hundred Men - Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester - Northern Superchargers Men won the toss and decided to field
Manchester Originals Men - 152-7 (100 balls) Salt 61, Overton 21 not out, Aspinwall 18 not out, Santner 3-24
Northern Superchargers Men - 156-3 (97 balls) Pooran 66 not out, Brook 43, Hose 27 not out, Usama Mir 1-14
Northern Superchargers Men win by 7 wickets
Match report by Mike Peter, BBC Sport Journalist.
Nicholas Pooran blasted an unbeaten 66 as Northern Superchargers beat Manchester Originals in a high-scoring men's Hundred thriller at Old Trafford. Chasing 153 to win, Superchargers swiftly lost England captain Ben Stokes to a potentially serious hamstring injury and started slowly before Pooran and skipper Harry Brook (43) powered their side into contention. Brook was caught by Jamie Overton off the bowling of Usama Mir, but Pooran pressed on, smashing three sixes from Fazalhaq Farooqi's penultimate set before Adam Hose hit a maximum of his own to secure victory. Having been put in to bat, the Originals got off to a flying start with Phil Salt hitting a 17-ball half century as the home side reached 93-2 after 40 balls. But their charge stalled dramatically as the Superchargers slow bowlers came into the game. From successive deliveries, Paul Walter was run out and Sikandar Raza was dismissed for a first-ball duck. Adil Rashid then removed Salt who sliced to Mitchell Santner at point for 61. Overton helped the Originals regain some momentum towards the end of the innings, hitting three sixes as they finished on 152-7. The start of the reply contrasted sharply with how the Originals began, as Matthew Short skied Farooqi to Walter for one, while Stokes had to retire after hurting a hamstring while running a single. It took the Superchargers 57 balls to reach 50, but they were dug out of trouble by an eager Pooran who cracked two fours and eight sixes in his 33-ball innings. But the winning moment was not to be his, with Hose heaving a delivery from Scott Currie over the long-off boundary to wrap up victory with three balls to spare. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/49/Manchester_Originals_logo.svg/200px-Manchester_Originals_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/88/Northern_Superchargers_logo.svg/200px-Northern_Superchargers_logo.svg.png

England captain Ben Stokes injured in Hundred match..i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/11/20/88416421-0-image-a-23_1723405106697.jpgEngland Test captain Ben Stokes was carried off the field after sustaining a hamstring injury while playing for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred. Stokes was batting for the Superchargers in their match with Manchester Originals at Old Trafford on Sunday when he pulled up after running a single. England are set to begin a three-match Test series against Sri Lanka at Old Trafford on Wednesday, 21 August, with doubt now surrounding the skipper's prospects of being involved. The Superchargers said Stokes will have the injury assessed, with an update expected on Monday. Team-mate Harry Brook, captain of the Superchargers, said the situation "doesn't look great". The 33-year-old Stokes was clearly in pain while being attended to by physios, punching his leg in frustration. He was wheeled into the pavilion on a gurney, before being seen on crutches at the end of the match. Should he be unavailable for England duty in the coming weeks, vice-captain Ollie Pope would be likely to step up and captain the side. Stokes appeared to have returned to full fitness this summer after recovering from surgery on a knee injury that had limited his ability to bowl. He opted out of the Indian Premier League and T20 World Cup to assist with his recovery, then led England to a 3-0 series victory over the West Indies, taking five wickets at 34.20 in three Tests. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/11/21/88416839-13733435-image-a-38_1723406685085.jpgStokes has been playing in the Hundred for the first time since 2021, and this was his third match for Northern Superchargers. He was bowled by Tim Southee for a first-ball duck in the match against Birmingham Phoenix on Tuesday, before being dismissed for two in a shortened game against Welsh Fire two days later. Opening the batting on Sunday in a chase of 153 against the Originals, he was two not out after four balls when he picked up his injury and had to retire hurt. Superchargers went on to win the match by seven wickets. A rapid 43 from Brook and a 33-ball knock of 66 not out from Nicholas Pooran took them to victory with three balls remaining. Brook, speaking on Sky Sports, said of Stokes' injury: "Doesn't look great unfortunately, but I think he'll be getting a scan tomorrow and we'll see how he is."

Monday 12th August 2024 - The Hundred Women - Edgbaston, Birmingham - Birmingham Phoenix Women won the toss and decided to bat
Birmingham Phoenix Women - 112-6 (100 balls) Kalis 47, Ghosh 41, Sciver-Brunt 2-16, Gardner 2-17
Trent Rockets Women - 114-7 (97 balls) Sciver-Brunt 34, Gardner 20, Scrivens 19, Pavely 2-21
Trent Rockets Women win by 3 wickets
Match report by Sam Drury, BBC Sport journalist.Trent Rockets overcame a late collapse to claim a nervy three-wicket win over Birmingham Phoenix and stay in top-three contention in The Hundred. A fine all-round performance from captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, who took 2-16 with the ball then made 34 from 25 balls in the chase, looked to have set the Rockets up for a comfortable victory. But her dismissal, with 24 runs from 28 balls still required to reach their target of 113, led to a dramatic finish in which they lost 4-12 to slip to 101-7. There was then a moment of controversy when Josie Groves was caught off a full toss from Emily Arlott with nine runs needed, only for the third umpire to adjudge that it was a no-ball on review. The ball was above waist height when Groves connected with it but she had advanced down the pitch. That brought it down to seven needed and Groves proceeded to hit the winning runs with three balls to spare. Phoenix had earlier been saved by a 95-run partnership between opener Sterre Kalis and Richa Ghosh - the highest fourth-wicket stand in The Hundred women's competition - after they slumped to 9-3 after 15 balls. Victory for the Rockets lifts them to fourth, level on points with Northern Superchargers in third, with one round of games remaining in the group stage. Rockets face second-placed Oval Invincibles on Wednesday and a fourth win in a row will see them advance. Defeat for Phoenix means they are eliminated. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/d1/Birmingham_Phoenix_logo.svg/200px-Birmingham_Phoenix_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/6d/Trent_Rockets_svg_logo.svg/200px-Trent_Rockets_svg_logo.svg.png

Monday 12th August 2024 - The Hundred Men - Edgbaston, Birmingham -Birmingham Phoenix Men won the toss and decided to field
Trent Rockets Men - 118 all out (100 balls) Alsop 51, Imad Wasim 29, Extras 13, Southee 5-12
Birmingham Phoenix Men - 120-4 (93 balls) Duckett 30, Livingstone 30 not out, Bethell 38 not out
Birmingham Phoenix Men win by 6 wicketsMatch report by Sam Drury, BBC Sport journalist.Tim Southee took a brilliant 5-12 to set Birmingham Phoenix on their way to a crucial six-wicket win over Trent Rockets at Edgbaston. The New Zealand seamer struck twice early on to dismiss Tom Banton and Joe Root before claiming three in the last five balls of the innings as Rockets were restricted to 118. A review denied him a hat-trick after John Turner was initially given out lbw but Southee still finished with the second best figures in The Hundred men's competition. Left-hander Tom Alsop was among Southee's victims but only after making an impressive 51 from 37 balls on debut for the visitors. Rockets bowlers Turner and Luke Wood were also on hat-tricks as Phoenix were put under pressure at 52-4 in the chase. But with such a modest target, it only took one partnership to get the hosts back on track and Liam Livingstone (30* from 32 balls) and Jacob Bethell provided it. A patient, unbroken stand of 68 took Phoenix to victory with seven balls to spare. The win lifts them up to third and keeps progress to the eliminator in their own hands, while Rockets are now out. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/d1/Birmingham_Phoenix_logo.svg/200px-Birmingham_Phoenix_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/6d/Trent_Rockets_svg_logo.svg/200px-Trent_Rockets_svg_logo.svg.png

Tuesday 13th August 2024 - The Hundred Women - Headingley, Leeds - Northern Superchargers Women won the toss and decided to bat
Northern Superchargers Women - 99-7 (100 balls) Davidson-Richards 33, Sutherland 24, Gray 3-17
London Spirit Women - 105-3 (86 balls) Knight 43 not out, Sharma 37 not out, Smith 3-16
London Spirit Women win by 7 wickets
Match report by Mike Peter, BBC Sport Journalist.London Spirit easily chased a target of 100 to eliminate opponents Northern Superchargers from the women's Hundred competition at Headingley. Superchargers could have topped the table with a win in their final group game, but failed to set a defendable total and Spirit leapfrog them into the knockout positions after scoring the required runs within 86 deliveries. Having won the toss and chosen to bat, Superchargers found themselves 14-3 after Marie Kelly, Hollie Armitage and Phoebe Litchfield all saw their stumps broken by Spirit bowlers. Alice Davidson-Richards helped rebuild the innings, putting on partnerships of 30 with Annabel Sutherland and 39 with Georgia Wareham. But Eva Gray dismissed Wareham and Bess Heath with her final two balls, and Davidson-Richards was bowled by Danielle Gibson from the final ball of the innings as the Superchargers finished on 99-7. In the reply, Linsey Smith removed Meg Lanning and Cordelia Griffith with successive deliveries before catching Georgia Redmayne from her own bowling to leave Spirit 22-3. That brought India international Deepti Sharma to the crease alongside captain Heather Knight and the pair steadily built their partnership. Knight started slowly, but accelerated towards the close, smashing Wareham for six to finish the game with 14 balls to spare. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/88/Northern_Superchargers_logo.svg/200px-Northern_Superchargers_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/65/London_Spirit_logo.svg/200px-London_Spirit_logo.svg.png

Tuesday 13th August 2024 - The Hundred Men - Headingley, Leeds - Northern Superchargers Men won the toss and decided to field
London Spirit Men - 111-8 (100 balls) Bopara 31, Jennings 30, Dawson 27 not out, Rashid 3-16
Northern Superchargers Men - 61-1 (44 balls) Clark 26, Short 25 not out, Robinson 13 not out
Northern Superchargers Men win by 21 runs (DLS Method)
Match report by Mike Peter, BBC Sport Journalist.Northern Superchargers moved into the knockout places of the men's Hundred after their match with London Spirit at Headingley was abandoned because of rain. Chasing 111, the Superchargers were comfortably ahead of the run-rate on 64-1 after 44 balls when the skies opened, winning the match by 21 runs on the DLS method. The result means they move second in the table having played all their group matches, but they will need other games to go in their favour if they are to reach the elimination match. Having been put into bat, Spirit swiftly lost Michael Pepper and Dan Lawrence to the home side's seamers, but Keaton Jennings made a 12-ball 30 before being caught by Pat Brown off the bowling of Reece Topley. He was the only batter in their top five to pass five, as the Spirit slid to 62-6 with England spinner Adil Rashid taking 3-16. Veteran Ravi Bopara (31) put on 39 for the seventh wicket with Liam Dawson (27*) before he was bowled by Matty Potts with the penultimate ball of the innings. Olly Stone was run out from the final delivery as Spirit finished on a below-par 111-8. The Superchargers reached 47-0 in reply before Matt Critchley had Graham Clark (25) caught by Pepper from the first ball after the powerplay. Ollie Robinson (13*) came in to join Matthew Short (25*) and the Superchargers looked set to cruise to victory until conditions intervened. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/88/Northern_Superchargers_logo.svg/200px-Northern_Superchargers_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/65/London_Spirit_logo.svg/200px-London_Spirit_logo.svg.png

Wednesday 14th August 2024 - The Hundred Women - Utilita Bowl, Southampton - Welsh Fire Women won the toss and decided to field
Southern Brave Women - 103 all out (100 balls) Tryon 55, Southby 15, Bouchier 10, Matthews 4-14
Welsh Fire Women - 106-1 (74 balls) Beaumont 59 not out, Matthews 35 not out, Bell 1-18
Welsh Fire Women win by 9 wickets
Match report:Hayley Matthews starred with bat and ball as Welsh Fire secured a knockout place in the women's Hundred with a nine-wicket win over Southern Brave. Matthews took 4-14 as Brave were skittled out for just 103, before hitting an unbeaten 35 from 26 balls as Fire won with 26 balls to spare. Fire skipper Tammy Beaumont top-scored with a blistering unbeaten 59 from 40 balls, including 10 fours. Brave struggled with the bat, slumping to 15-3 and 47-7, with Australian Jess Jonassen taking 3-21. Chloe Tryon was the only Brave batter to show any resistance, scoring 55 from 38 balls - more than half of their total. Fire will top the group, and progress directly to the final, if Oval Invincibles fail to beat Trent Rockets in Wednesday's later game. Even if Invincibles win they will need to do so convincingly to improve their net run-rate by enough to overhaul Fire and avoid going into the eliminator. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/e/e5/Southern_Brave_logo.svg/200px-Southern_Brave_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/7c/Welsh_Fire_logo.svg/200px-Welsh_Fire_logo.svg.png

Wednesday 14th August 2024 - The Hundred Women - Trent Bridge, Nottingham - Oval Invincibles Women won the toss and decided to field
Trent Rockets Women - 91-8 (100 balls) Gardner 43, Wraith 14, George 9, Kapp 3-8, Slater 2-15
Oval Invincibles Women - 92-5 (94 balls) Scholfield 26, Kapp 26 not out, Gardner 2-21
Oval Invincibles Women win by 5 wickets
Match report by Mike Peter, BBC Sport JournalistOval Invincibles beat Trent Rockets by five wickets to progress to the women's Hundred knockout phase and eliminate their opponents. South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp starred at Trent Bridge, taking 3-8 with the ball and anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 26 as Invincibles sealed the win with six balls to spare. Put into bat, the Rockets endured a horror start, finding themselves 3-3 after Kapp removed openers Bryony Smith and Grace Scrivens and Rachel Slater bowled Nat Sciver-Brunt for a duck. Ash Gardner hit a brisk 43 from 26 balls, but Rockets slipped to 60-5 when she was caught by Mady Villiers off her own bowling just past the halfway mark. They scored just 31 from their remaining 48 deliveries, finishing on a below par 91-8. On a difficult pitch, Invincibles were unable to wrap up the swift victory that would have seen them finish top of the table, finding themselves 33-3 after Lauren Winfield-Hill and Alice Capsey fell to consecutive deliveries from Heather Graham and Alana King. But Kapp put on 51 for the fourth wicket with Paige Scholfield to put the Invincibles firmly in the driving seat. Kirstie Gordon had Scholfield caught by Alexa Stonehouse and Villiers was stumped off the bowling of Gardner, but Kapp hit the winning runs to send her side into an eliminator match with London Spirit at The Oval on Saturday. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/6d/Trent_Rockets_svg_logo.svg/200px-Trent_Rockets_svg_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/96/Oval_Invincibles_logo.svg/200px-Oval_Invincibles_logo.svg.png

Wednesday 14th August 2024 - The Hundred Men - Utilita Bowl, Southampton - Welsh Fire Men won the toss and decided to bat
Welsh Fire Men - 181-5 (100 balls) Wells 53, Phillips 48, Eskinazi 28, Kohler-Cadmore 23, Mills 2-38
Southern Brave Men - 21-2 (16 balls) Vince 19, Willey 1-20
No result
Match report: Southern Brave qualified for the Eliminator in The Hundred despite their match against Welsh Fire being abandoned because of rain. The one point they were awarded lifted Brave above Northern Superchargers on net run-rate into second and guaranteed them a top-three spot, even if fourth-placed Birmingham Phoenix beat Manchester Originals in their final match on Thursday. Welsh Fire posted 181-5 in their 100 balls, mainly thanks to a blistering fourth-wicket partnership between Luke Wells and Glenn Phillips worth 76 from just 30 balls. Wells top-scored with 53 from 30 balls, while Phillips' 48 from just 19 deliveries included five sixes - one of which went 103 metres. Brave lost Alex Davies and James Vince to slump to 21-2 after 16 balls of their reply before rain ended play. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/e/e5/Southern_Brave_logo.svg/200px-Southern_Brave_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/7c/Welsh_Fire_logo.svg/200px-Welsh_Fire_logo.svg.png

Wednesday 14th August 2024 - The Hundred Men - Trent Bridge, Nottingham - Oval Invincibles Men won the toss and decided to bat
Oval Invincibles Men - 150-3 (100 balls) Malan 53 not out, Cox 39, Jacks 30, Cook 2-23
Trent Rockets Men - 151-4 (94 balls) Powell 45, Alsop 41 not out, Hales 35, Sowter 1-18
Trent Rockets Men win by 6 wickets
Match report by Mike Peter, BBC Sport Journalist.Oval Invincibles missed out on the chance to confirm a place in the final of the men's Hundred competition as they lost to Trent Rockets by six wickets in a thrilling encounter at Trent Bridge. Opener Dawid Malan hit an unbeaten 53 as the Invincibles set a challenging target of 151, but Tom Alsop (41*) and Rovman Powell (45) put on an impressive display of strokeplay for the already eliminated Rockets as they won with six balls to spare. Table-topping Invincibles had already qualified for the competition's knockout phase, but will now have to wait for the result of Thursday's final group game to see if they will progress directly to the final at Lord's on Sunday. The visitors chose to bat against the already eliminated Rockets and started well, reaching 47-0 before Lewis Gregory removed Will Jacks lbw. Malan shared a partnership of 71 with Ollie Cox (39), ended when the new England call-up was bowled by Sam Cook, and Donovan Ferreira clouted 27 from 10 deliveries to close the innings. Rockets had leading run-scorer Tom Banton caught behind for six off the bowling of Saqib Mahmood early in their reply, and were behind the rate on 57-3 at the halfway stage. But their innings began to build momentum, starting with Alsop hammering tournament leading wicket-taker Adam Zampa for consecutive sixes. Needing 56 with 25 balls remaining, five boundaries in the next ten balls helped bring that total down to 24. Powell smashed Sam Curran for his fourth six of the night, but the England seamer got his revenge from the following ball, having him caught in the deep by Ferreira to end the partnership of 80. But by that stage the damage had been done, and Alsop struck Mahmood for four to see his side home. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/6d/Trent_Rockets_svg_logo.svg/200px-Trent_Rockets_svg_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/96/Oval_Invincibles_logo.svg/200px-Oval_Invincibles_logo.svg.png

Saturday 17th August 2024 - The Hundred Women - The Kia Oval, Kennington - London Spirit Women won the toss and decided to field
Oval Invincibles Women - 113-9 (100 balls) Capsey 30, Kapp 26, Harris 16, Dean 3-24
London Spirit Women - 116-2 (91 balls) Redmayne 53 not out, Knight 36 not out
London Spirit Women win by 8 wickets
Match report by Sam Drury, BBC Sport journalist at The Oval.
Georgia Redmayne backed up a fine effort from her bowlers as London Spirit comfortably beat city rivals Oval Invincibles to reach The Hundred final. The Australian left-hander scored an unbeaten 53 from 47 balls as Spirit, set 114 to win, clinched an eight-wicket victory with nine balls to spare in the Eliminator at The Oval. Invincibles dropped Redmayne on 19 - one of four drops in the innings - and the Spirit opener made them pay with a well-paced half-century in an unbroken stand of 74 with captain Heather Knight, who finished 36 not out off 23 balls. Spirit were not without fault themselves in the field as Alice Capsey, who top-scored with 30 for Invincibles, was twice put down by Danielle Gibson. But Knight's side bowled brilliantly as England spinners Charlie Dean and Sarah Glenn took 3-24 and 2-15 respectively, while seamer Eva Gray was superb for her 2-13. Gibson also claimed two wickets and a brilliant catch to remove the dangerous Laura Harris, as Invincibles subsided late in their innings, losing five wickets in the last 14 balls. Former Australia skipper Meg Lanning got the Spirit chase off to a strong start alongside Redmayne before the innings stalled briefly after her dismissal. But Redmayne and Knight put them back on track, ending Invincibles' bid for a third title in four years and securing Spirit's place in the showpiece game for the first time. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/96/Oval_Invincibles_logo.svg/200px-Oval_Invincibles_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/65/London_Spirit_logo.svg/200px-London_Spirit_logo.svg.png

Match Tied (Southern Brave Men win the Super 5)
Match report by Sam Drury, BBC Sport journalist at The Oval.Southern Brave are through to The Hundred final after a remarkable Eliminator against Birmingham Phoenix was decided by the first Super Five in the tournament's history. Liam Livingstone took Phoenix to the brink of victory in regulation play with a brutal half-century but he fell with three runs needed and Brave spinner Akeal Hosein conceded just two from his last three balls, resulting in a tie. Jofra Archer then had Livingstone caught from the first ball of the Super Five and restricted Phoenix to just seven from the extra five deliveries. A Chris Jordan boundary got Brave over the line with a ball to spare to set up a final against defending champions Oval Invincibles at Lord's on Sunday evening. That prospect looked a long way off when Livingstone hit a Hosein no-ball for six to bring the equation down to three needed from four balls. But he failed to connect with the free hit and then holed out next ball to give Brave a chance - one they ultimately took to progress to their first final since winning the inaugural tournament in 2021. James Vince reached 400 runs in the tournament this year as he top-scored with 43 to take Brave to 126-6. But, even on a bowler-friendly surface, it was Phoenix who appeared to have the upper hand at the interval after an impressive bowling effort, headlined by Adam Milne’s 3-18. The Brave bowlers were yet to have their say, though, and an equally strong display put Phoenix under pressure at 45-3 halfway through the chase. The turning point appeared to come when Livingstone was dropped on seven by Leus du Plooy, which sparked the England all-rounder into life. He bludgeoned four sixes in a near match-winning knock but he could not finish the job, Brave held their nerve and will now play for their second Hundred men's title. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/e/e5/Southern_Brave_logo.svg/200px-Southern_Brave_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/d1/Birmingham_Phoenix_logo.svg/200px-Birmingham_Phoenix_logo.svg.png

Sunday 18th August 2024 - The Hundred Women - The Final - Lord's Cricket Ground, St John's Wood - London Spirit Women won the toss and decided to field
Welsh Fire Women - 115-8 (100 balls) Jonassen 54, Mathews 22, Beaumont 21, Glenn 2-17, Gray 2-26
London Spirit Women - 118-6 (98 balls) Redmayne 34, Knight 24, Gibson 22, Sharma 16 not out, Ismail 3-24
London Spirit Women win by 4 wickets
Match report by Sam Drury, BBC Sport journalist at Lord's.London Spirit won The Hundred for the first time after a thrilling four-wicket victory over Welsh Fire in the final at Lord's. Set 116 to win, it came down to four needed from the last three balls before Deepti Sharma lofted Hayley Matthews over long-on for six. It could all have been so different, though, as the ball burst through the hands of Fire bowler Shabnim Ismail and over the rope. Ismail had looked like being the match-winner for Fire, taking 3-24 as she bowled Meg Lanning, Heather Knight and Danielle Gibson to keep her side in contention. However, there was just too much on Deepti's decisive strike as Spirit claimed the trophy on their home ground. Knight's team were on top at the halfway stage after an excellent bowling display, led by England spinners Sarah Glenn and Charlie Dean, restricted Fire to 115-8 despite a fine half-century from Australia all-rounder Jess Jonassen. The pressure of the chase began to tell on Spirit until Gibson came in and struck five fours from her first six balls to give her side the momentum. But when she was bowled by Ismail and opener Georgia Redmayne was trapped lbw by Freya Davies, the game duly went to the wire and Deepti was on hand to deliver the telling blow with two balls to spare. London Spirit captain Heather Knight: "It was tense, wasn't it?! It feels so good. I'm an awful watcher. When I'm out there I'm fine but I was feeling sick for the last 20 or 30 balls. "I'm so pleased for the girls and the coaching staff. Deepti made a bit of a meal of it in the end and kept us on tenterhooks when the six just went over! I'm just so delighted." Welsh Fire captain Tammy Beaumont: "I'm so proud of the girls to fight like they did. "When I called the timeout and they needed less than a run ball at that point, 30 balls left, it was theirs to lose really but we fought and really gave it a good crack and took it to that last set." upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/65/London_Spirit_logo.svg/200px-London_Spirit_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/7c/Welsh_Fire_logo.svg/200px-Welsh_Fire_logo.svg.png

Sunday 18th August 2024 - The Hundred Men - The Final - Lord's Cricket Ground, St John's Wood - Southern Brave Men won the toss and decided to field
Oval Invincibles Men - 147-9 (100 balls) Jacks 37, S.Curran 25, Cox 25, T.Curran 24, Hosein 3-34
Southern Brave Men - 130-7 (100 balls) Davies 35, Vince 24, Overton 22 not out, Mahmood 3-17
Oval Invincibles Men win by 17 runs
Match report by Sam Drury, BBC Sport journalist at Lord's.Oval Invincibles have won The Hundred for the second year running after a convincing 17-run victory over Southern Brave in the final at Lord’s. Set 148, Brave made a solid start to their chase but then collapsed from 58-0 to 102-7 as Invincibles seized control. Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa made the initial breakthrough before fast bowler Saqib Mahmood shredded the Brave middle order with three wickets in seven balls. Will Jacks took the key wicket of Brave skipper James Vince, the leading run-scorer in the tournament, to back up his tone-setting 37 from 22 balls at the top of the order for Invincibles. While no Invincibles batter was able to kick on, Sam Curran and Jordan Cox both contributed value knocks of 25 and Tom Curran added 24 from 11 balls late in the innings. Left-arm seamer Tymal Mills was the pick of the Brave attack, taking 3-33. It looked like the Brave innings may follow a similar pattern when opener Alex Davies fell to Zampa for 35 from 23 balls. Vince made 24 but Mahmood bowled Leus du Plooy for 20 then quickly added the wickets of Kieron Pollard and Laurie Evans to stop Brave in their tracks. Invincibles were able to see out the match without issue and become the first men's team to successfully defend The Hundred trophy. Oval Invincibles captain Sam Billings: "Amazing. Just a real team effort throughout the tournament, probably even better than last year. It didn't go all our way and that's the strength of the group. "Saqib Mahmood came and changed the game with that set of 10." upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/96/Oval_Invincibles_logo.svg/200px-Oval_Invincibles_logo.svg.png V upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/e/e5/Southern_Brave_logo.svg/200px-Southern_Brave_logo.svg.png

One of those competitions that seem to occur but have no interest in whatsoever....but many enjoy it for the crash bang wallop effect I suppose...... maybe IF there was a franchise that was relevant to this area it may change my views
