There was a strong rumour ref why UWE were genuinely surprised that Rovers pulled out. It was because UWE asked for some proof of financial commitment and this was not forthcoming. I now believe that UWE was no more than an opportunity in Alq's eyes. Once that became less attractive as an investment opportunity in Hani's eyes, they were left with club that Hani did not value or want to own. Wael meanwhile was trying to forge his reputation in the football world - hence the obfuscation. Trust, honesty..another chapter in the BRFC book of Expectation Management. Dr F just asked where your statement of "Due diligence in progress" came from. What you have offered are rumour and opinion. Better answers need to be forthcoming.

The AlQs want out. Due diligence from new owner in progress. IMHO they wanted out pretty much as soon as UWE failed. It was the only thing that made any sense. The only thing (in my mind) that didn't add up was the amount spent on 'senior management' and the London office. This amounts to extremely expensive window dressing for a potential buyer. I'm sure it takes a long time to sell a football Club. I am hopeful the new owners will do a better job with due diligence and we can actually move forward as a football Club. UTG. They will sell it to anyone with the cash. We are arguably in more trouble than we were under Higgs. Hani is at the controls and his priority will be getting his money back first and foremost and who he sells to a distant second.

UWE asked for some proof of financial commitment and this was not forthcoming. I remember talk about asking for a bond. Probably part of the same thing

Wasn't it reported that Higgs wanted some form of proof of funds for UWE before selling the club to them?
Either way, the question I would love an answer to is "did they ever have the money to build the UWE in the first place?"

I am not the person doing the due diligence!!
So yes, someone has provided the information.
I have heard the rumours before. The fact that Oldie supported them made me take interest. It depends on the sources.
Only at end of August, someone texted me to say that they had no plans for investment, despite all the BS. However, the Club was NOT up for sale.
Now I have been reliably informed that the due diligence is under way.
I am not Henbury, who should be nick-named Wee Willy Winker. 😉😉😉😉😉😉
I fear for the future, but I am glad that the present owners have been rumbled. The trouble is that we will never trust (guilty as charged) any owners again, which is a massive shame and significant weakness going forwards.
Of course DYOR.

Is it due diligence OF the new owner or BY the new owner? Hopefully the former!

The trouble is that we will never trust (guilty as charged) any owners again, which is a massive shame and significant weakness going forwards. I stopped trusting owners a long time ago when so many lied to fans. I suppose as it is only now that you have stopped trusting owners, you were happy with Higgs lies about going to Cheltenham etc.... interesting.

Keep prodding the bear with the stick if you so wish.
I was not happy with Nick Higgs and again it centres on honesty.
I will never forget the euphoria when we won the court case ref objections to Sainsbury's. Points West showed Rovers fans celebrating on the steps of the court-house and on next Friday night game, I remember supporters singing "We've got our Stadium" with gusto.
What the Supporters had not been told was that Sainsbury's had already notified the Club that they were pulling out.
Trust?
It is going to take a long time to establish and any business plan ultimately relies on us.

What troubles me is.
Higgs wanted out for ages and sold a dummy to the Al Qadis
Now the al qadis have the club they want our. They can see the position we are in.
In decades of wondering why, with our catchment area, 40,000 at Wembley, we haven’t been targeted for development....how can Crawley get bigger backing than us?
I presume it’s accumulated debt. Our only hope is being bought by some benefactor.
Why does anyone involved with us always want out these days? Why can we never get a new ground. It’s like we’re cursed.

Is there a credible source on the "they want out" thing? If there is i must have missed that. Of course you missed it you still had your head in the sand Vertigo reminds me of Comical Ali towards the end of the Iraq invasion... definitely no tanks in Baghdad (despite the fact you could see them about 200 yards away). Of course there "might" be no take-over discussions going on at all. And it is all "rumour and hearsay". So if nothing is heard by the end of November (these things take time you know), I will issue a formal apology to Vertigo and offer to buy him a pint.

Vertigo asked a reasonable question. Anyone got a reasonable reply for him/her?

I will hand over a bottle of champagne to Vertigo if nothing breaks on this story in October.
This is to celebrate his loyalty and refusal to accept anything until it happens.
Whether Wael sells or the new owners buy is still subject to due diligence. It's a standard commercial process BEFORE actual purchase.
However, the story will break, because the new owners will want to highlight their attempts - successful or not.
