Vertigo asked a reasonable question. Anyone got a reasonable reply for him/her? Living in London I am not ITK. I do not have a water-tight case for there being an imminent take-over. I am a fraud. A rebel. Howling in the wind. I am revolting. All I have is the words and (in)actions of the current Board. Post-UWE there is clearly no sound business case for Dwane Sports to be involved with Bristol Rovers FC. Dwane Sports are losing £2mil a year (actually I think that is now £2.25mil with the lovely new London pad). They will not continue to do this. There is no long term strategy or vision. You want the vision? Look at the new family stand FFS. The only conclusion that could possibly be reached is that they want to sell. I am very hopeful this will now happen. Will our new owners be the new saviours? Who knows? But just like I gave the Al-Qadi's 100% backing (18 months worth, right up til September 2017) - I will do the same for the new owners. You know what - it's not worth falling out about. We all want what's best for Bristol Rovers FC. Our current owners have tried and failed. They have not delivered. New ownership will give us a chance to unite behind the Club again. Happy to buy you a pint as well Doctor - should no material take-over talks come to light by the end of November. UTG.

Fair enough Eppers, old bean. Not sure who thinks you're a fraud etc. You're the same as us all - a Rovers supporter.
Happy to have a pint any time. It's my shout.

What troubles me is. Higgs wanted out for ages and sold a dummy to the Al Qadis Now the al qadis have the club they want our. They can see the position we are in. In decades of wondering why, with our catchment area, 40,000 at Wembley, we haven’t been targeted for development....how can Crawley get bigger backing than us? I presume it’s accumulated debt. Our only hope is being bought by some benefactor. Why does anyone involved with us always want out these days? Why can we never get a new ground. It’s like we’re cursed. Is there a credible source on the "they want out" thing? If there is i must have missed that. Higgs certainly wanted out. No credible source. I’m just repeating what rumours I’ve heard and the opinions of former directors I’ve met over the last year first hand. I’m not really certain. Perhaps all is well and the mem will be redeveloped next year, or another project. At the moment all I can see is another tent, a bar with a capacity of 14 that only those who leave the terrace at 3.20 can access, and online tickets which cause a load of hassle but stop money going missing at the gate. Ex directors are plenty credible enough for me.

If certain ex directors are the source of the rumours the concern for me would be about history repeating itself.
A few years ago we were being reliably informed by forum posters in close contact with the old board that the UWE Stadium was a done deal and it was only a matter of being patient and all would be revealed. There was a hint of smugness even triumphalism in some of those posts which turned out to be completely misplaced because, even as they were assuring us everything was running smoothly, the deal was actually in the process of collapsing.
I have little doubt that attempts are being made to construct a deal for the club to be taken over but, if details are being leaked in exactly the same way as before, there has to be a worry that some people are getting a little bit carried away and that wishful thinking is masking reality. Just as it did before.

Does that mean the other 80+ clubs with debt are also trying hard to sell up? The difference is most are probably either local businessmen/supporter or foreign owners with a long term interest, I doubt many owners bought a club on a whim in the hope they could force a good deal with the local uni to build a stadium. I guess it could only happen at Rovers.

If any of the old cronies formerly running the club are involved in the supposed take over then god help us all if it turns out to be true i say.

Rather fittingly i have shared a post on facebook, 1 year to the day when another, takeover rumour was ciculating. Not sure how that one panned out Yes, and there's good reason behind that. This time last year our (shortly to be) new Russian owners, were newly reformed and commemorating the centenary mark since they were originally dissolved. Plenty of vodka was being guzzled, and so they decided to postpone the take-over of Bristol Rovers FC, for a year. But now in 2018, The Octobrists are finally coming: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_of_October_17And you can tell they have done their due diligence on the Rovers by looking at the section top right of the page, and noting their colours.
