Are you seriously suggesting that Higgs was posting that on here whilst he knew that very soon he would be up to his neck in a legal battle with Sainsbury's? Seriously? No, I was not being serious. Seriously. Shame, I spent a few mins going over some of the stuff Intheknow wrote, he didn't half write some rubbish. The pinnacle I thought was calling another poster a . Apparently that's OK on this forum, admin didn't mind, it's still there, 4 years later.

Indeed someone called me the same very recently and I have yet to see it removed or an apology given...arguments are often lost when such individuals resort to bad language and calling people with other views unsavoury names. It is worth pointing our many millions of military people fought two World Wars to ensure Freedom of speech in this country something we should all RESPECT.

Name calling is for the children's playground. This forum generally self-polices itself quite effectively. Oddly enough I think the person who called harry a was a mod? I think it was on the back of a joke in bad taste. But using that sort of language in response is pretty bad form and sets a bad example. IMHO.

I can't remember so called 'joke', though I do know what I thought of it at the time. Being a mod doesn't give someone the super power of letting things which cut deep on a personal level just wash over them. The post in response to the 'joke' was fully understandable in my opinion, given the experiences of that mod. If Harry had any humility or awareness he would have had the decency to apologise for what he'd posted. Name calling may be for the playground, but the post which prompted it was written by an adult who should know better and who, if he wasn't so full of his own bluster, might have stopped to think before hitting send.

Without any signed contracts being in place with the UWE I can't see how the ALQ could do DD on that part of the deal and, even if they did, I doubt they would want to accept the deal NH had apparently agreed with the UWE which gave them a big cut of the stadium income. Perhaps in an ideal world they should have got around a table with the UWE and agreeing a deal in principle before buying the club, but it seems NH was spinning the yarn, or perhaps telling the truth, that the club was days away from admin meaning a quick takeover was required. Fear and greed my friend. If Dwane Sports did not have the appropriate level of detail on the UWE part of the deal, then they should not have bought BRFC. However they were worried some-one else would beat them to the deal (fear). They thought that there was a chance to make some decent money with UWE (greed). So they took a punt. (BTW - If they took absolutely everything that Nick Higgs said at face-value, then more fool them). Here is how they (sounds like Wael) justified taking a punt to 'the family'. They are bankers. Even if the UWE deal doesn't come off, the asset value of the Memorial Stadium is more than the price paid for BRFC. So it's a no-brainer, isn't it? 1. Best case scenario: UWE 'works' and a shiny new Stadium is delivered. This makes money. Wael is a hero. Everyone is happy. Hooray! :-) 2. Worst case scenario: Dwane Sports sell the Mem for it's true value and get out flat on the deal. BRFC are homeless. Gasheads are unhappy. Wael leaves with his tail between his legs and his reputation in tatters. Boo :-( 3. Hopeful scenario: Sell BRFC (hopefully at a profit) to someone who just might deliver a new stadium. Wael could even stay on the Board. Gasheads and Wael are happy. Hooray! :-) 4. Stagnation scenario: Dwane Sports don't find a buyer. They don't take option 2. But they stop putting any money into BRFC as they don't want debt to exceed asset value. The club is strangled. Dwane Sports are left with a large nonperforming asset. We drop down the leagues in an increasingly decrepit stadium. Gasheads and Wael are not happy. Boo :-( 5. ok scenario; They keep improving the club and its facilities, they pay off any losses over and above the value of the mem,in other words they simply do what the rest of the football world is doing. They seek out investment partners to finance a new ground.

I agree option 5 is a possibility, but IMHO about as likely as 1 & 2. Time will tell.

Been posted on Gaschat that Chris Brown has posted on Facebook that a big announcement is coming soon. He was right about UWE going tits up. You never know.

Surely better to delete the offensive joke/comment and ask harry to apologise unreservedly? I have no knowledge of the experience of the mod, so I can't comment on that. From your last sentence you obviously have a bit of a grudge against harry. Whatever.

As for the mod, Harry's 'joke' clearly struck a sour note. The response was not posted in 'mod' (there's an irony in those letters actually) mode, it was a personal and instantaneous response Read it and you can feel the anger and upset in it. Like you, Harry may be unaware of the poster's background but even then I would have expected something in the way of an apology. The 'joke' was in bad taste. If I wasn't pre-conditioned to ignore Harry's posts I would have said that at the time. I wish now that I had reported it so that it could be speedily deleted. I'll have to remember we have that option in future.

At my age I tend to shoot from the hip and frankly don't give a ….if it upsets snowflakes so be it. Not sure what I have to apologise for to be honest. Perhaps someone can tell me ?

On one hand you say 'Wear a poppy with pride', in the next breath you write this horse sh1t. There's a world of difference between what are (mockingly) called snowflakes and people who have put themselves in harm's way in defence of the liberties that we enjoy. But you know and understand that. Shame on you. I know that I'll get plenty myself, but maybe the mods could add a 'dislike' button?

You never know. twomileblue (I've no idea) has just posted.... Evening one and all, I have been informed from a very close friend within that the Rovers end of the deal is sealed. There is however a delay in any announcement due to the new owners (construction based consortium from reading) finalising UWE. They are conscious of the impact a second consecutive takeover full of promises of a stadium still not sealed will create. There aim is to announce both the takeover and the UWE in one go and things take time. Keep the faith and remain patient, it's on its way👍
