So with pumpkins carved and bowls of sweets ready will we all stay home, wash our hair, do some more ironing, watch the mighty Chelsea in Rome on BT Sport or head out for the Mem for the visit of the Young Hammers.
Cheap admission and only two sides of the stadium opening with special pumpkin pies on offer and a £1 programme whats not to like.
Tonights winners qualify for the next stage...so the big question is will DC go for our shadow squad most likely with a more important and financially lucrative tie in Nottingham on Friday evening.
Can we actually win three consecutive cup ties ? I believe we can.
Enjoy your halloween whatever you decide

Here are some of the main rules and regulations for this season's Checkatrade Trophy. •Each team shall play each other once (either home or away) in the group stages. •Three points are awarded for a win. One point each for a draw. If the game does indeed end in a draw after 90 minutes, the match will go straight to penalties to decide which side wins the bonus point. •Penalties will take place using the new ABBA system. •Invited Category One academy sides (Premier League and Championship) will continue to participate in the tournament. •All Category One sides will play their group games AWAY from home. •The tournament will now be regionalised until the quarter-final stage. •Each EFL Club must play its 'Full Available Strength' in and during all matches. •Full Available Strength means EFL clubs must include at least four qualifying players in the ten outfield players named in their starting XI. •The four qualifying players must either (a) start the preceding fixture (b) start the fixture immediately after (c) be in the top ten of appearance makers for the club so far that season (d) have made forty or more first team starting appearances in their career to date. •Each Category One club must include at least six players in their starting XI who were aged under 21 as of the 30 June 2017. •Clubs can name seven substitutes on their team-sheet and bring three players onto the field of play. •Cautions and dismissals are treated separately under The FA Disciplinary procedures from all other first team matches.

I’ve got skittles tonight. Would sack it off for a League game but won’t for this monstrosity of a tournament.
Every one has a choice - if you want to hasten the demise of lower league football by supporting the inclusion of ‘B’ teams through the back door then go. I’m happy for you and your blind ignorance. If you believe in the integrity and meritocracy of football as a sport then give it a miss.
I choose the latter.

I don't understand these fair-weather fans, picking and choosing which games to attend. Almost as bad as glory hunters!

I look upon it as kind of Football Combination but with a Wembley final at the end of it. Let's face it, the original tournament was crap anyway and only attracted decent crowds for local derbies and the final itself. Gives the youngsters a chance to pit themselves against PL youngsters. Can't be all bad.

If like me you follow the progress of the England U20 and 17s World Cup winners you will know those talented kids need experience in mens football if they are to progress. Foden of Man City is such who would help playing in league one or Checkatrade trophy.
Did you know Rovers have already played against TWO WORLD CUP WINNERS this season....Dean Henderson Man U (On loan at Shrewsbury) U20 winner and Steven Sessegnon Fulham Under 17 winner. While Morgan Gibbs-White Wolves was an un used sub for Wolves Under 17 winner.
Not convinced pal that Checkatrade Trophy would hasten the demise of league one /two clubs. Try and convince me with a constructive argument please. Always willing to change my mind but doubt you will if you just say what you have said thus far.
Enjoy your skittles.

Here we go again, someone makes a different choice so that makes it OK to call them a 'scab'.
Glad we aren't a petty, spiteful club like 1982.
If you don't go I hope you have a great evening, if you go I hope you enjoy the game.

If I may put my take on that I don’t think there is a constructive argument that can be used to convince you. My reason for that is because no one from Harvey downwards has definitively come out and said anything to that effect. For me it is all about gut feeling and how you see the way the wind is blowing. I am pessimistic that those in charge of the EFL would sell their soul for what would be a drop in the ocean of the PL piggy bank. To the detriment L1/L2 clubs. Of which this is just a tester for finding a workable format to that end. Of course you may disagree with me on that view. Fair enough. But I am not sure there is a hard and fast argument that can convince you towards the point of view I, and others, have. Only time will tell who is right or wrong I think.

Just helping prove that FL clubs themselves are giving these players more experience and more of a helping hand than chucking PL U23 sides in FL competitions ever will. Most of the key players in that U20 side came through the FL and got games - Calvert Lewin, Lewis Cook, Lookman. Ask yourself why EPPP has been designed so PL clubs can stockpile talented players, and you'll realise why these players will never fill their potential.

seems to have the crowd size of a local park game. 'Only reporters in this stand' says KB, maybe 6 of us in total, 'Atmosphere is a bit eerie'

Broom conceded silly pen just before half-time. 1-1
Wet Spam lots of possession, not created much per KB. Rovers need to hit hard on the counter second half
