So the likes of harry buckle are now going against the club, the supporter's club, and the good of the game in giving thier tacit approval to this farce. And yet they insist that they are the ones acting as supporters?

but monkey hangars are not in our division ...may I suggest Bradford City or Sheff Utd instead bigger clubs and better beer ...pint of ruddles sounds appealing ... Unfortunately Bradford and Sheffield United aren't superfan away days and attending will not be worth my time. What's this all about? Why does there have to be this animosity between two Rovers fans? Surely, it's up to each individual to decide whether or not they will attend tonight, or maybe just attend games not involving development sides, or not attend any Checkatrade games this season? Not attending doesn't make for a bad supporter and attending does not make for a "sell the family silver/Judas Iscariot" supporter. If I was in Bristol this evening, I would go to the game, even though I'm not happy about the development teams being in the competition.

I agree with Mr 1957, with the exception I wouldn't go if I was in Bristol tonight (which I will be), and I would hope that nearly all fans of any persuasion can see this game for what it is and choose to stay away tonight.
I'm done with the competition until they change it back, and while I agree with the s**thead above that it was a Mickey Mouse Cup, I don't share his sense of superiority about it and up until this season have always enjoyed the competition.
Its not a Mickey Mouse Cup anymore though, its an actual insult to lower division football.

Only a 5 grand fine for not playing the full first team? Never mind Mike Jay's sanctimonious choice of charity (many of us have our own, thanks, and don't need preaching at), we could all chip in to pay that, and we play our youth team. After all, they're potential England players whose development will benefit hugely from wasting their time with this nonsense. Reading supporters would probably be thrilled by a chance to see them, as well. Either way, I hope Matty Taylor is still not sufficiently season ready and needs resting tonight.

Don't get why we would play our full youth team?? We need to do what's best for us as a club. We have a bigger squad than last season, a lot of our senior players haven't played a lot and need games. We have no game on Saturday, so we need to give players like Bodin, Gaffney, James, MM, Mildy, Moore if fit, Montana etc game time. Yes rest players like Lines, Taylor, Lockyer, Brown etc. But lots of players need game time, we would be stupid not to give them a run out.

Anyway, I think a better name for this joke competition would be 'The Condescending Cup'

Out of interest, how many supporters are Reading expected to bring, or are they not interested either? Oh, and my chosen charities work in developing countries.

You wait 45 years for a match boycott to come along and before you know it...two bloodly come along at once....bit like buses
Chewy, County and Seth need to "back the boycott" otherwise their street cred will go right down the tubes !

It did make me smile, when on my drive home earlier, the Traffic Report on Radio Bristol mentioned the standard: "There is a football match on this evening at the Memorial Stadium, so expect delays before and after kickoff."
I smiled again when the Traffic Report came round again, this time without saying to expect delays, and pictured someone in the office setting him right.

I seem to remember Dobson's last game in charge was against Ipswich in the Zenith Data, and we got just over 1000. Rex....o yes ....Ipswich Town ZDS tie at Twerton in 1991 to some like Chewy and others another meaningless cup game actually attracted 1,490 including moi ! We lost 3-1 Tony Pounder scored a consolation. And Watford away in the ZDS after playing them away on the Saturday. If memory serves we drew 1-1 on the Saturday and beat them midweek 2-1... also that was a great night as Thatcher quit. Palace away in the ZDS I recall as well

If you're going tonight, because you love the team and try to watch as many games as you can, whatever the circumstances - good for you.
If you're not going tonight, because you are against Academy teams being invited to the tournament and have misgivings about the new format - good for you.
Personally I'm in the latter camp.

JUST GOT BACK:
Earlier, I wired Mr K £10 for FFS.
I also have just bought £5 of 50/50 tickets (as I'm lucky enough to live near the stadium).
I think my monies spent will see at least £5 find it's way to the club I love, albeit on a night a competition I detest. I have done my bit to support the club.
I will not be attending tonight.
With a heavy heart, I have chosen to boycott a chosen way of life. I feel remorseful, but proud I stood against authority and did not comply.
Have to say even though an hour before match, the place is not desolate. A few Gas around, mostly with kids, fair play it's their future as much as mine - I bear no ill towards anyone whom has a different point of view to mine.
I can look anyone and myself in the eye and say I supported my club in time of need, but not this competition. I hope that message resonates through every associate club.
Anyone contemplating tonight's game, I urge you to reconsider and stay away.
Please please please lets break all time lowest attendance figure tonight? That will be a moral victory as forever in the future we can earn an asterisk next to that number with the words *YOU'LL NEVER GET RID OF THE GAS!
Respect.. UptheGas!
