I was just casting my mind back to last August when we lost to Barnet at their place and the mass hysteria amoungst some of our `wisest` support. `We should have Martin Allen as manager, Clarke is bloody useless, got us relegated`etc, etc. just a few quotes from memory! Now, 12 months on. Where is the Martin Allen appreciation society? Especially after todays performance where Darrel Clarke showed them just how a `team` should play the game of football. I wonder if they are glad they did not get their ill advised wish and are finally appreciating the young,up and coming manager who is rebuilding their football club?

He's 37. That's not young Is 37 not young for a football manager then? Perhaps not for Managers on Fifa 15 granted but in the real world of football 37 is very young for a manager of a League Club.

Of the 92 league clubs, 86 have managers older than him. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_Football_League_managers

What I said was that if you wanted a man to win the Conference for you then Allen was that man. I think, and have always said, that Allen is a car crash waiting to happen and isn't a long-term solution to anything other than getting a club into the League. And he'll do that for you on a limited budget.

Spot on, MA is the guy to get you up (ooooooooooo, matron) from Conference, or even come in and fire fight and prevent you from going down. A kindof Atkins. I just don't think he is the man to take our kind of club further. DC is still learning his role. It's great we are playing with fluidity and flare (no canisters allowed) but I don't think MA would have an inkling of knowledge to work out how to attempt that playing style. Where I disagree with Bambi is: It's oblige, not oblidge. But hey ho, I'm a forgiving kind of gay I mean guy...

Surely it's impossible to answer this question with out knowing the manager's respect budgets, given Barnet average around half our attendences you'd assume he's working on a far smaller budget?
Barnet's midfield looked particularly weak yesterday compared to our Lines & co, plus we still had Mansel on the bench.

Allen said he made a mistake the last time he got promotion from the conference in that he didn't strengthen. On that showing yesterday their team is worse than it was last year.
He's decent in a relegation scrap, but apart from that ?.......plus the football his teams play is mainly garbage long ball.

If so we should be in the Championship, pull yer finger out Clarkey
