I know nothing about budgets etc etc but Bringing the thread back to the OP and lack of context I would like to add Darrel has nicer hair than Martin, I choose Darrel. X none of us know the truth about budgets actually and all managers try to play down there budget

X Not only have you bought the thread back but by weaving in the hair comparison (which is totally valid and an admiral point) you have also cleverly bought 'barnet' back in as well. I think you may well have swung the vote for anyone on the forum who might have been wavering. Well done.

Are those people that keep saying Darrel Clarke had this `massive` budget at his disposal last season forgetting the amount already being taken up by players such as Parkes, Brown, Mildenhall, Machrystal, Harrison etc, etc? Which consequently meant he didn't have the whole of that seasons budget? That's why players such as Sinclair joined on hundreds of pounds per week instead of the ££££££ of said players? Its just another cheap shot. This season players wanting £1,500 were rightly given short shrift by Clarke. Rovers finally going in the right direction but this `Clarkes massive` budget which gets thrown around always makes me smile. Finally, do the `lodgings` for the Barnet players in London get mentioned in the accounts? I doubt it. Talking crap again crazytrain. For a start DC offered Brown a contract. Secondly it's part of a managers job to 'move' players on if he thinks the budget could be better spent. Thirdly he's doing a great job and doesn't need this irrational defence anytime someone says something other than he is a footballing God. I personally have no doubt that we spent more on players wages than any other team in the Conference last year and it was money well spent. Of that is my opinion on which I have little facts to back it up just as anyone saying we didn't spend the most has little fact to back that up either. Eastleigh ?

just like countyground thinks rovers had the largest budget i believe eastleigh and forest green had bigger budgets than ours last season with barnet just behind,,just like countyground this is also total guesswork but hey ho The strange and laughable thing about Mr County Ground is that he wants every to prove facts about their `opinion` but never gives facts regarding his own rants. I blame the dodgey beer in the Vic I also believe Eastleigh and Forest Green had a bigger budget. James Constable was rumoured to be on £4,000 a week. But my point was that Darrel Clarke never spent the majority of the playing budget as it was already spent from previous big signings. If It's also pretty well known DC had his playing budget cut on more than one occasion.

We just don't really know budgets and how they compare with others. We might hear a rumour, a kind of "I spoke to someone who knows someone who said ..." or something similar. It is all conjecture but I guess that's what forums are about. I suspect Eastleigh and FGR last season were fairly similar to us but I don't know. We can presume when big players arrive at a small club then someone will be throwing money at it but we can't be sure. I suspect KWP is correct about last season but comparing us to Barnet I just don't know. Barnet is well run and the Chairman there runs a tight ship but it may mean money is made available from his pocket when it's needed. Eastleigh and FGR are still throwing money at it this season. In the end I'm glad we have DC and not MA because although less experienced I believe he is tactically more aware and flexible and will be more respected by his players than MA is despite all his success. UTG!

X The lack of context is down to purely there is need for me to list dozens of facts for and against. Why write ten words when one will do? I could have wrote about the pros and cons of appointing an experienced man like Martin Allen v the inexperienced manager already at the totally skint club but the following posts from others would be exactly the same. Just load the gun and let the firing begin,it is much simpler
besides posting long on a a tablet phone is a pain.
