It seems a very strange team selection today ....Granted! Some of you ought to go back and read your comments today .... as the game unfolds ... the usual s***e that the manager doesn't know what he is doing!! You are poisoning this forum as so many have been spoiled before. Darrel Clarke is the best thing that has happened to this club in years...Genuinely cares, speaks with common sense , respected by the players ...working to get us up!! please take care that some of you aren't the catalyst that sees him hounded out of our club .... whether we go up this year or not!! Don't know who has said anything that would lead to people getting their pitch forks out, but to reiterate what I have said I think we are capable of starting every game attacking sides but today we went out with defensive set up. No hounding out, I think Clarke is doing fantastic job, but today I think even he would regret not being more attacking from the start. Halifax aren't that great of a side.

How many times do we have a terrible first half? Come on DC, pick a side and employ tactics to win from the off.
Another 2 points chucked away

I think it was the Halifax heads groundsman who said the thing that lead to them getting their pitchforks out at half time

Just back from the game and overall I'm very pleased with the point but disappointed we didn't nick at the death when Mansell had a glorious chance.
I was unsure about the line-up but it was clear that DC wanted us to nullify Halifax's aerial threat and then hope we create that one great chance later in the game - a la Gateshead - to snatch a win. Obviously going 1-0 down scuppered the plan and we weren't playing at all well, but Halifax weren't outplaying us or anything. Unfortunately we had the most biased, awful referee in history who literally created fouls in their favour and turned his nose up at EVERYTHING we appealed for, even though they were blatant.
He awarded a free kick that should never have been given and typically they ended up scoring from it, which I thought put the game beyond us going by our performance up to that point.
Thankfully we had 10x more attacking intent in the second half and DC proved his tactical nous by ringing the changes and moving players about. The very poor Ollie Clarke came off early, and so did the likes of Lockyer and Taylor, who were just having one of those days. The substitutions had the desired effect as Harrison was excellent and caused their defence all sorts of problems, while Easter and Balanta displayed some terrific touches and made some good runs forward. It gave us another dimension to our play and it was exciting to watch, even though we didn't find a goal as quickly as all wanted.
The first from Lee Brown was a great strike from outside the box after a corner was cleared - and it needed to be to go through the crowd and find the bottom corner - and that gave us renewed belief in the final minutes. We pushed without really creating a clear cut chance, until Lines whipped in a ball that Harrison exquisitely controlled with his left foot before swivelling to fire home with his right. It was a superb equaliser and the celebrations were great both on and off the pitch.
The nice thing was that there was still belief that we could go on and win it and, as I said, Mansell had a great chance to net a third, but it just wasn't to be. The away end, filled with a huge number of Gasheads, would have erupted if we scored again, genuinely. In the circumstances it was a great point and it showed exactly why we are right up there this season. We battled, never gave up and got our rewards - just as Macclesfield and Grimsby choked in their matches. Barnet won which is disappointing, but it could have been as awful lot worse and we are still well placed to go on and win promotion.
It would be a real help if Halifax could do us a favour and beat Barnet on Tuesday night!

Another 2 points chucked away The same tactics that won us 5 games in a row 2 weeks ago? But how many of those were dominant wins rather than scrapping a win by a solitary goal? Why we start so many games on the back foot with a defensive line up is beyond me. The Eastleigh game being a prime example, we get 7,500 fans, let Eastleigh dominate the first 10 mins and score, do little until half time, then try and turn things around at half time. Gateshead another game where we had a shocking first half hour. Surely with the likes of Lines, Dawson, Easter & Harrison in the squad we could destroy conference teams if we started with an high tempo, instead of trying to finish with one, perhaps it wouldn't work but it would be nice to see it tried?

Yes it went mental when we scored but the usual knuckleheads screaming abuse at the players for 3/4 of the game isn't good, of course most of them are pissed up and travel on the coaches. FFS why don't they just stay at home? On of them was close to having a heart attack from shouting vile abuse at OUR players. Don't know if it's worth going away to hear all that s**te

Poor first half, dreadful pitch, appalling ref. That said, great comeback. I'm concentrating on that bit tbh, the away end went absolutely nuts when Ellis netted. If Mansell had put his chance away after that then spontaneous combustion and/or pitch invasion was the only logical next step. UTG, another awkward away fixture out of the way. Roll on Friday

Hopefully Barnet will drop points at The Shay on Tuesday.
If that's the case, we get a chance to put the pressure on two weekends in a row - when we will have finished our game before the others kick off.

Love this forum - you're allowed an opinion as long as it's the right opinion! If it's not - you're the poison that will frighten DC away. Quite incredible [br Love this forum - you're allowed an opinion as long as it's the right one! If it's not you the poison for not agreeing to hate the Board and the crisis the club is in - Yawn

Another 2 points chucked away You should know better than that, you aren't allowed to criticise the bloke who was one half of the management team that got us relegated, then broke down and cried about it. He's put together a squad that can compete with some of the finest firemen and dustmen the entire Conference has to offer.

If onlly we'd employed a McGhee style sticking plaster we could be 50 points clear and beating any team with at more than one electrician in the side by 5 goals or more every time. "He took us doooooooown!"

I know following your football team is an emotional experience for us all but it is just a football match, why shout vile abuse at your OWN players, exactly what good does that do ? And just to make it worse on the way out some even try to throw themselves under your cars....lol !

Dirty Dicks and 7.5% cider conspired me to pretty much jump on a steward after Ellis sublime contribution. He took it in good faith! I'm glad the goal was at our end.
Gas goal of the season for me..

Yes, Harrison has to start more than one game. Taylor has had more than his chance to put away more goals.

Agreed, its rubbish that the board have got us to a position that we don't have the money to dominate this league. Hardly Clarke's fault, but I'm sure this argument has been gone round before.
