I've been to all home games.
Two games in a few days, full price, cold wet weather and lure of a Man C v Barca game on tv? I can understand why some wouldn't be at Mem both times.
Perhaps the Club could be more pro active in attracting families with some sort of offer last Tuesday night?

I stopped going to home games because of the stupid and pathetic ban on Kevin I met Kevin early this season and told him as I was in Bristol a lot these days I was going to start going again, especially as he had taken his debate as far as he could, I think he would agree.
Been to about 5 home games and two away
Funny thing is (its not funny) I still get a sense of animosity I was in the Guinness bar under the Dribuild Tuesday and one member of staff, he was temporary chair of the SC many moons ago when we were engaging them, recognised me and flatly refused to serve me.
That is the underlying tension that is still there, this latest Valentines Ball fiasco (repeat) just underlines it.
It wont put me off, its not the same anymore but its my team since god knows when (1963)

17 consecutive years as a ST holder broken this year. Joined helpline instead. Wife back to work this week after 12 months maternity (last 3 months unpaid). I've had to pick and choose games, still made about 10 home and away, with another 3/4 planned.
ST will be back regardless of promotion for next season.

Cost, inadequate facilities at the Mem and crap non-league opposition are some of the reasons for the non attendees I know.

This is the problem, anyone who stands against the actions of the board, like you in not attending, or like Black and Gold when they were about, gets dog's abuse from people who probably think it was just pure bad luck that we went down and would buy bottled air if it had Rovers on the bottle. Their "loyalty" is part of the problem.

Had a season ticket last season, but this season a combination of having a girlfriend who doesn't live in Bristol and some pretty serious family commitments means that I've only been able to make 5 or 6 games so far. If I had fewer commitments, I'd probably be there every week.
Cost would also be a problem, but I get student rates so it doesn't bother me so much.

5 years ago the Rovers board refused my eminently reasonable request to have the Mem relocated 100 miles North for my convenience. It seemed the least they could do to reward my 20 years of unswerving support. I've been boycotting games ever since.
To be honest I think we have a habit of overestimating our real fanbase a little bit. I'd say that was a decent crowd for a Tuesday night game against a very small club that wouldn't bring many. I think we have a very committed loyal following who go to at least 10-23 home games a year but I think it takes an awful lot to bring our 'latent' or casual fanbase out on mass - and Tuesday night vs Braintree isn't quite going to cut it regardless of the current league context. The truth is though we don't really have much of a clue what our potential fanbase is - it would be nice to one day be good enough and in a big enough ground to find out. I'm just impressed that our gates haven't declined much from last season; I think that's actually quite interesting.

After watching club being miss-managed and ruined by our board over the last few years, I decided enough was enough after going down last season and said I would no longer watch Rovers whilst Higgs was at the helm - I think the pathetic way he shut down the official forum was the icing on cake.
I've rescinded twice - Woking and Aldershot away (on my doorstep). When Higgs goes and we get someone who has 'some' idea, instead of none, on how to run a football club - I will start going again.
I pray to god we go up this season, however even if we do I still won't go until that useless 'waste of space' has gone.....

I guess disposable income can influence your attendance even if in Bristol. Having someone else to attend with also provides another reason to attend. I guess there are many and varied reasons why people don't attend. I claim to hold the record for the longest period in not attending a live game, despite remaining a Gashead in all that time, from roughly 1960 to 2003 ! I'm now a season ticket holder living in South Wales and attend with several other Gasheads from South Wales.

For me it is finance and distance that prevents me from going to more games than I do so. I try to go to the local away games as well as some home games but a 2oo mile round trip hampers the times I can go home. I am going to the up coming Eastleigh game (was going to Macclesfield but as it is on TV Eastleigh it is). Planning to go to the away game at Kidderminster and the last game of the season for (hopefully) the promotion party.

Can't be arsed!
I've picked out the odd game to watch - FGR with mates who support them, Telford away for the non-league awayer, Gateshead at home for a beer afterwards and home v Torquay on New Years Day (I think!). Oh and Halifax for no good reason!
It's the Conference! I grew up watching Barrett, Williams & Randall - it's not doing it for me!
Thankful though that this year's squad are doing the business! And thankful for those that stayed at the club - Brown, Parkes, Mildy, Lockyer, Clarke, Harrison - when it would have been easy to walk away.
As someone else said, if we win the league, watch Higgs take the plaudits! Him & Watola should have been put out of their misery last May!!!

Living in east anglia has always meant problems getting to rovers' games and this year looks like being the first for many a long time that I will not see a single one.
the reasons:
1 friends and family moved away from the Trowbridge area that acted as a useful base for home games 2 the lack of " local to me" away games ( no cambridge, cobblers, posh, rush den, luton, Norwich, and thankfully I did not bother with Braintree!) 3 like many I was and still am smarting from the abject failure of last season. The management team and some of the players being the worst culprits IMO. 4 due to 3 I gave up being a share scheme payee (at the time of Andy rammel's heroics I thought it worth while) and as a distant gashead felt I had done my bit 5 I have become far more of a rugby fan these days. Much nicer atmosphere at grounds, everyone is friendly and enjoys a beer together although the desire to win is just as fierce. It is also a far more honest game..IMO. Football, especially higher up is played by overpaid egomaniacs who spend far too much time trying to Con and cheat the referee and their opponents..IMO!
i suppose I may well go to wembley for a playoff final with the other 34000 fair weather part time fans but really hope it won't come to that!
i hope our upturn in fortunes may reignite the flame but sadly I am not holding my breath.

While the thread is being aimed largely at those still in Bristol, the games with the bigger attendances are often around holiday periods where some of those living away are back. My two appearances this season (Macc home and Torquay home) were well attended, partly due to people like me who were home over Christmas.
The 21,000 mile round trip for me to get to any other home games is the biggest stumbling block! Sadly for me they moved the Gateshead game, it would have been the start of my stag party having just got off a 27hr flight back from Brisbane! I really miss going to games though and loved the match day buzz when I was home in December.

Two home games within a few days make it difficult for people with kids. It really can be too expensive for some. Tuesday night was a classic case where kids under 10 should have been allowed free entry (or quid-a-kid). I think the club really do need to be more creative with pricing to attract more people.

A part of this is that a club can not really be seen to encourage kids to be out, probably beyond 11pm, during the school week.
