its the sort of thing a pseudo-intellectual says to sound clever thats all So if someone is articulate enough knows what a word means they are not allowed to use it for fear of looking intellectual? What level should we seek to get down to before it doesn't sound intellectual? Stone Age grunting.... stone age grunting would be ok,as the drunken foul mouthed abusers could then properly understand the posts

I suspect he had a hidden agenda for this, Istm there could be some sort of motive behind it, either trying to get the fans more on side, or trying to give the players more of an under-seige mentality. Maybe he's looking back at a similar interview he gave (iirc) that heralded our long unbeaten run. Maybe it's some sort of message to the board. Could be anything. Trouble is, it's a dangerous game to start playing, and you need to be Alex Ferguson to pull it off properly, so I sincerely hope it's just a spur of the moment rant. In a nutshell, as they say. It's a bit like Pandora's Box, once the lid is off there's no going back. Much better to strive for unity in the camp, and to that end you sometimes have to keep your own counsel.

With the rumours flying around at the moment about players coming or not and the lack of BoD backing, I am beginning to wonder if DC is now looking to get out? Blame the fans, lack of support etc etc He can't attack his employer so where else does he look. The thugs are providing him with a way out.

I think Dc is being very clever here ahead of the crunch Xmas period. I think he's creating a siege mentality in the camp. I don't think he's alienating anybody, if anything it should galvanize everything around the club.

fwiw, it seems to me that the atmosphere this season has been largely positive at games So are you suggesting that the manager has an alternative agenda in saying what he did, Gandy? As I see the situation it is either frustration on his part, or he's losing his focus. Either way his contract only runs until the end of this season, so perhaps he's getting a little worried about his future. I think that he may well come to regret his outburst yesterday, if he isn't doing so already. The fact is that he doing a difficult job, and making a reasonably good stab at it. What on earth possessed him to make his calculated and deliberately dramatic outburst heaven only knows, but to me it is a mark of his lack of experience as he should be shielding the squad from negativity, and not adding to it. I firmly believe that he is very close to making a breakthrough, but as we all know he needs at least one more player to do that. The uncomfortable fact for him (and us) is that the purse strings are held by A N Other, and there's no way round that. Cue mega frustration.

I am not sure whether you would class me as a DC lover but I certainly respect him and think for you to compare him to Buckle is pretty outragous. There can be few more insulting comparisons to level at a Rovers manager. I guess it does fall in line with the EP policy of blowing things out of proportion though.

From the OS
The manager said this morning; "The majority of our fans are the best I have come across in all the years I have been involved in football and I don't say that lightly, especially with what they have had to put up with.
"It's obvious that the vast majority of them are appreciative of what we are trying to achieve at this club and their comments and backing following yesterday's press conference are greatly appreciated.
"Our home attendances have averaged over 5,700 which is amazing for a Conference side and our supporters have made the Memorial Stadium an intimidating place for visiting clubs.
"Away from home we have taken over 1,000 supporters to three games, again a phenomenal number and the backing at many of our away games has made it feel like a home game for us and I really hope that continues over the course of the season.

Ask any Millwall FC supporter for confirmation of that. Only they use it on a full-time basis, and not as a short term motivator.

I for one rarely read "blogs" as they are usually the thoughts of a self-appointed know it all, who speaks for himself and a few other deadbeats and oddities. Wish I hadn't read this one, just for these reasons

So after a good nights sleep has the manager now realised the error of his ways, or were they pointed out to him from above? Either way it strikes me a conciliatory statement from him, and designed to build a few bridges. Just what the doctor ordered, eh? Blip over and soon forgotten, back to business as usual then. I wonder how the squads morale is bearing up this afternoon?

Thanks for clarifying Gandy, I wasn't trying to put words into your mouth . . . honestly. Anyway it's much appreciated on my part, and I'm pleased that we're all now singing from the same hymn sheet.

fwiw, it seems to me that the atmosphere this season has been largely positive at games Agree with this. In the Blackthorn end there's the same old moaners who moan if were winning, drawing or losing. But by and large from what I hear, and from talking to people the general consensus is that of a positive nature. I also can't understand why people fork out a hell of a lot of money just to stand there and moan for 90 minutes.

Could I suggest that instead of taking some of my comments and using them out of context, that you read all of my posts on this thread. I'm quite certain that if you do, and do so with an open mind, then you will agree that your post is wide of the mark.
