None of what I was thinking. Sunderland / Villa / Brooking / Hoddle - have all scored in FA Cup Finals, if you take it as Alan Sunderland (1979) and Ricardo Villa (1981). Wright / Wilson / Shilton / Walker - are all ex-England keepers (Richard/ Bob/Peter/Ian) Moore / Neville / Beckham / Cole - all ex-England captains Liverpool / Chelsea / Spurs / Preston - have all won the First Division. Could be close with that one. Is there more than one? Only Bob Wilson I can think of played for Scotland, despite being born in Chesterfield!

Here's what's left, with clues.
Lion:
Crystal Palace, Concord Rangers, Southport,...(Could add Leicester City)
That twisty thing:
Edgar Davids, Leonardo, Duncan Edwards,... (could add Carl Regan or Fabian Broghammer)
The wall is left with:
Wright, Wilson, Shilton, Walker Moore, Neville, Beckham, Cole

On to the missing vowles round... Would probably suit more as a quick-fire thing, rather than time to think about it, so I'll go for non-league club nicknames. Nickname and club please:
THS NDG RN DRS = SL ND RS = BC HBYS = YLTZ = TRRS = LNN TS = CR DNLS = STS = SHTS = MSH RMS = PPPS = BLLS = DLL Y BLS = HR RRS = MPS = SQR RLS = TG RS = RBLS = LNN TS =

How about for the wall?
Shilton/Moore/Beckham/Cole = all got over 100 caps for England Wright/Wilson/Neville/Walker = TV football pundits

No but one of your reasons is right.

Close enough. The final one was all played over 50 times for England without scoring.

Huggy Bear gave us The Soundgrounders as a starter, so from a previous life in L'pool, I think that's Southport. i think Cardinals are Woking - something to do with Wolsey - tho I thought Ipswich (as a town) claimed him. Shots are Aldershot; Bulls are Hereford (see what I mean, ex-league) I think there's a Harriers in there (Kidderminster presumably, but aren't they also something to do with carpets?) i can can also guess at two lots of Linnets (no idea); maybe some Rebels (dear God); Tigers, Squirrels (?) and Mushrooms (??). Surely no-one's called the Mops! i can't see the only other three Conference ones I know: BS, MRNRS, and GLLS. Good thread. Quck edit for Imps - Lincoln.

I can't even think of ny seaside towns in the conference (barring Cllethorpes) logging off now.

They're not all Conference, but you've got the clubs right that you've said, and right where you've guessed the club nicknames without the clubs being named yet. - You are right, Kiddie are also known as The Carpetmen. - Woking are The Cardinal (or Cards) as: Wolsey was said to be staying with King Henry VIII at Woking Palace when he heard the Pope had made him Cardinal; they play in Cardinal Red; the pub next door to their old ground was called The Cardinals, and a shopping centre is named after Wolsey. - I made an error putting the letters for The Linnets in twice. However, there are two teams going by that sobriquet! - The team called The Beach Boys have been mentioned elsewhere.

Fresh eyes can see Poppies. I think Kettering might have been Poppies, but I also thought they'd folded (maybe not on both).
With more gusto, I'll go for Sealanders, which could be Chester.
As for the Beachboys, wouldn't it be nice if that were Torquay, Southport, or Grimsby? Back to my plastic Scouse days, the coast at Southport is particularly beachy, so I'll go for them.

Fresh eyes can see Poppies. I think Kettering might have been Poppies, but I also thought they'd folded (maybe not on both). - Yep. Kettering have had their financial difficulties, and forced demotions, but still going and plying their trade in Southern League Div 1 Central. With more gusto, I'll go for Sealanders, which could be Chester. - Not a bad guess. Chester known as The Seals (from the old ground), not sure about Sealanders though. In any case Sealanders isn't the nickname I'm after. As for the Beachboys, wouldn't it be nice if that were Torquay, Southport, or Grimsby? Southport are The Sandgrounders, Port or The Yellows.

Perhaps The Beach Boys would have been better for Dundee United too, rather than The Arabs which they're called due to the amount of sand used on the pitch to combat frozen surfaces.

SL ND RS - Islanders - Canvey Island? Beat FGR in the 2001 Trophy Final.
RBLS - Rebels - Pretty sure that's Slough Town - Currently my nearest ground!
Think TRRS might be Terras, but no idea who they are
