Dc is chasing Matt Tubbs & Lee Hughes from Bournemouth & Forest Green according to the back of todays paper edition of the post
The hughes thing opens a huge can of worms... Tubbs would be a great signing but not available till Jan, hughes possibly available now
for me Hughes is a NO

Vegan in peace here.
Heard more than a strong rumour that Hughes is on his way to The Gas.
He has not featured for some time with a 'chest infection', not cup tied as wasn't selected against Gloucester City, didn't play against you and we have now extended Jolley's loan from Newport (not sure why as he has failed to impress). Also, since being sent off against Wrexham for 'kicking' the goalkeeper, things have been less than rosey, I understand, between him and the gaffer.
Only contracted until end of this season.

Hughes until January then Tubbs from January until the end of the season seems like the option most likely to happen, looking at it from a football side of things, both would be superb signings and the natural goalscorers we lack, totally understand peoples view on Hughes, a controversial signing that will divide opinion.

Tubbs is a massive yes. Has hit 8 goals (I think) for Wimbledon this season. That would be an incredible signing if you think about it.
Hughes is a different proposition altogether. Makes me physically sick thinking about him pulling on the quarters that Bradford, lambert and smash and grab once did.

Tubbs? Yes.
Hughes? No. Likely to be on big money, old, hasn't set the league alight at FGR. We stopped signing players like that under Clarke and we shouldn't start doing it again.

Not wishing to piss on the parade but, why would Tubbs leave a league club where he has scored 8 goals already and come to a non-league club?
Don't get me wrong I'd love to see him here, but just can't see it somehow though.
Hughes can F**k off though, if he did end up here, I'd support the team but not him.

Id prefer we stick with white, Ellis or Taylor than Hughes for footballing reasons. On a moral scale then personally if any person is remorseful and has served their sentence then I support it. Society or football can't progress if we don't confront these sensitive issues, and people's mindset and values are not static, we should encourage the principle of reformation, however tough it may be to do so.

Hughes....No. He's too old, and when he had hair he was ginger.

My gut feel on Hughes is the same as most above (apart from Nobbygas' ginger comment!). It would be great if we could win the league with a team of nice guys. However, we need to be ruthless in front of goal IMO. If DC thinks Hughes is the man, I wouldn't be happy, but I'd support the manager's decision.
Tubbs would be an asset if we could get him.
