i think lee mansell is having a pretty good go at that role Yeah, he does a lot of that unrecognised work, plus he can pass I agree, I've been pleased with him in that role, if anything I'd like to see someone a bit more attacking minded next to him In regards to the Turley deal I think it's funny how we only signed Trottman because Turley wasn't ready and now it looks likely that they'll be our centre back partnership haha

Good pro. Think the short term deal offered to Trotman was a good one, he's obviously motivated to work for an extended deal & with Turley to come he had to take his chance. Also the same regarding Martin, since we've signed Balanta it's clear to see that Dave has raised his game up that extra notch. Competition for places, squad's not very big but it's flexible. Credit to DC.

dc seems to be setting up the squad nicely with balanta and turley in we can easily play 3-5-2 4-4-2 or even 4-3-3 and even be able to cope with a small number of injuries Yes, I'd have to agree with that. He seemed to leave a few signings a bit later than I would have liked, but in fairness he always kept true to what he had always said, irrespective of comment and criticism. In hindsight he has shown quite a lot of patience in signing his targets. He may not have hit the bullseye every time, but as you say the squad is shaping up nicely . . . particularly (if as expected) Jamie Turley signs up. I don't want to say anything too prematurely, but things do appear to be slowly turning round. I must admit I was initially underwhelmed when his recruitment got under way, it seemed at one stage like we would sign Salisbury ! But it has shaped up nicely, Mansell for me has been a rock, and in particular I like the feel that possibly with the exception of Brown, no one appears to have a nailed on place in the team. Bottom line though, even though I have moaned about buying a season ticket too early, on reflection I have enjoyed watching the football far more than i have for a good while.

Given that Jamie Turley's X-ray took place yesterday, which apparently was followed by a visit to see a specialist, I had hoped some news on his signing-up for us would be announced sooner rather than later. The Bristol Post reported yesterday that his signing would be sometime this week, so once this evening's match is out of the way, well who knows?

Probably Mildy can be included too! Credit to Darrell, he's made some excellent signings IMO and without putting a negative spin on things but this squad would be well equipped to challenge next season if we don't go up this time around. Only 2 points off the play-offs and 5 off top, could be doing a bit better but given the frustrating minnows defeats to Braintree and Altrincham, we're doing alright. Like what others have said, I like how this team look like they could play a few different shapes if worked at properly. Regarding the middle general comment too, I agree that Mansell has been excellent - probably our stand-out player this year along with our bearded beauty Sinclair next to him, I think those two compliment each other nicely in the centre of the park. Looking forward to more positive results and performances.

DC: “No developments on Jamie, we will just see. It’s a case of waiting for results to come back."Where did the info come from, Gastee? I can't find it myself, but assuming that it's accurate then I am heartened. We seem to be be (still) waiting on the medical results to come back, and not on some behind-the-scenes haggling.

Many thanks for that, Gastee. It has just occurred to me that with the breaking news on Ryan Brunt possibly being shipped out on loan, that (if true) this would leave room for manoeuvre within the budget.

Having attracted reported interest from both Swindon Town and Yeovil Town this summer we are delighted to announce the signing of defender Jamie Turley
Jamie began his career with Football League side Wycombe Wanderers but without making a senior appearance he moved into the non-league game, linking up with Salisbury City.
Despite his young age, Jamie impressed hugely in non-league football’s top flight with Salisbury but was part of the Whites team that were demoted two divisions over issues arising from their entry into administration. Turley then joined Forest Green Rovers in 2011.
Rated as one of the best defenders outside the Football League, Jamie Turley’s performances in his first season at Forest Green earned him international recognition with call ups in to the England C team.
He raised the bar further in 2012-13, captaining England C to the final of the International Challenge Trophy where they went down narrowly 1-0 to Turkey.
In February 2013 Jamie was named England ‘C’ Player of the Year at the inaugural FA England Awards unfolded at St. George’s Park.
We welcome Jamie and wish him a successful time at the club. In other news we can today announce that fellow defender Matt Fry has left the club.

I'd assume Turley failed another medical and took what was offered to him by cash rich s**thouse Eastleigh. Frankly, if that's his attitude I'm glad he isn't here.
