Brilliant goal by Bellingham. Only papers over the cracks though.

I wanted Bellingham off a few mins earlier , fancy us now with eze & Cole on

Well that was stressful. Business as usual when watching England I suppose.

Other than goal I thought he was terrible , hasn’t he just got player of season in Spain , I guess that’s the difference having ancelloti as your manager & not Southgate

It went back before this - I remember people making similar comments about John Barnes. 

I really think that if Hoddle hadn't made his unfortunate comments, then England could have really progressed under his leadership. I liked his mentality, his approach to the game and the direction he seemed to be taking the team in.

England boss Gareth Southgate, speaking to BBC Sport:
"I'm so proud of the players and the spirit the lads showed. Everybody we put into the game played a part and helped us get over the line. They are all pushing and helping each other and tonight, that made the difference."
On Jude Bellingham: "Fantastic. We were thinking should we take him off, but you know he is capable of those sorts of moments. We know in the game itself we needed to better with the ball, we couldn’t find the right solutions in the first half and we did it better in the second.
"Under that pressure they kept probing. In the end it is the old fashioned long throw that gets the goal, those moments can happen when you keep wearing a team down."
On Harry Kane: "He is an extraordinary goal scorer, he is leading the team so well. He has been exceptional as a captain keeping the ship steady.
"He has been through it before and nights like tonight are which the younger ones will refer back to as that is what happens in tournaments."

England manager Gareth Southgate, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live:
"I had a funny feeling the game wasn't dead and I know that sounds ridiculous. We were pushing and probing.
"Ultimately it is the one we have thrown in the box that got us the goal."
On Jude Bellingham's sublime goal: "With 15 minutes to go you wonder if he is out on his feet. Him and Harry Kane produce those moments and that is why you don't makes changes when people are clamouring for more changes. We had enough attacking players on the pitch."

More from England manager Gareth Southgate, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live:
"We felt that Bukayo [Saka] at left-back gave us an extra attacking outlet. It is a good option to have. I have to say the courage shown by the players was fantastic tonight."
On the quarter-final against Switzerland being his 100th match in charge of England: "That's neither here nor there. We haven't come to get to a quarter-final but to get through a night like tonight was fantastic character and we now play a Swiss team that have been very good. We have a couple of days to recover and get ready for them."

"We lose Marc Guehi for the next game and we have a few days to recover as that has taken everything, but what a lift for the players.
“I had belief we would get a goal. The boys that came on, Ivan Toney played a big part – he was disgusted at me putting him on at that moment 94th minwhen England trailed 1-0)."

"Clearly in the first half we were too slow on the ball and they were compact in midfield. Second half we changed and I thought for a young team we showed great patience. We didn’t rush things.
"Everybody will understandably be questioning our performances, but we have some qualities that have kept us in this.
"I’m so pleased with the players sticking together, the leadership they’ve shown."

I didn't watch any of it. But very pleased for England fans.
The best thing about it though... surely the look on Scottish football fans faces at the denouement.

Match report by Gary Rose, BBC Sport journalist at Dusseldorf Arena.
A late own goal by Jan Vertonghen sent France into the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 at Belgium's expense.
A game that had lacked quality and excitement for large periods looked destined for extra time, but a shot by substitute Randal Kolo Muani deflected off Vertonghen with five minutes remaining to seal the victory at Dusseldorf Arena.
France had missed several chances before that as once again their lack of a cutting edge let them down, and even captain Kylian Mbappe put efforts he would normally finish wide.
Belgium could even have taken the lead themselves before France's late goal as Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne charged into space through the middle, but his shot was pushed behind by Mike Maignan.
That had been the below-par Belgians only decent opportunity as France closed out the final few minutes to progress to the last eight, where they will face either Portugal or Slovenia.

I don't know, but I do believe I recall England making Eriksson and especially Cappello very much richer. It didn't stop amazing Champions League club stars playing rather more like Paul Tait though. There's something about playing for England, and it smells a bit iffy.
