But just look at the rather stagnant Stones my pet snail could overtake his pace,just not enough " vision" to get the ball ( without the player hanging on to it) to someone in space, just too pedestrian, Slovenia just loved it, hardly had to break sweat..look at their end of game celebrations....then England's

Obviously there's room for huge improvement LIS but it was "a bit better" than the Serbian game.

The one touch disallowed goal sliced through the Slovenian defence.

I agree they looked a little bit better without the ball. But the press was never with enough intensity to get the ball back in a dangerous position.
They are bloody awful to watch. 
Kane played the full 90 minutes. Apparently. An anonymous figure throughout.
Southgate needs sacking (yes, I know it's not going to happen). Kane needs dropping. 
My review, it was pooh.

Tuesday 25th June 2024 - UEFA European Championship - Group Stage - Group C

England 0 Slovenia 0

England moved into Euro 2024's last 16 at the top of Group C - but it was only achieved after another drab display with a draw against Slovenia in Cologne.
Gareth Southgate's side offered up slightly more than in the abysmal performance against Denmark but once again it was nowhere good enough to justify England's status as pre-tournament favourites.
They were laboured and only showed quality in flashes, namely in the first half when a slick passing move ended with Bukayo Saka's goal being ruled out for offside.
For the second game in a row, England felt real hostility from supporters who backed them magnificently during the game but made their feelings clear after the final whistle.
After boos at the break, supporters let Southgate know what they thought when he went to applaud them at the end, with a couple of empty drinks cups aimed his way from the stands.
Conor Gallagher failed to justify his inclusion and was replaced at half-time, with the introduction of Manchester United teenager Kobbie Mainoo providing more urgency after the break.
England were also short on creativity in a group where no team scored more than one goal in a game for the first time in the competition's history.
Denmark's 0-0 draw with Serbia means they finish second and Slovenia qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.
It was a good night in other respects for England, with results elsewhere meaning the dangerous quartet of France, Spain, Germany and Portugal have dropped into the other side of the draw.
England's last-16 opponents are currently the Netherlands - but that could change after the final round of matches.

England captain Harry Kane, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "It was a difficult night but I think it was our best performance out of the three. We had more energy, we pressed better, counter pressed better, did better with the ball. We just lacked a big of magic in the final third but that will come. Another clean sheet which we will need if we are to go far in the tournament. We enjoy it and move on."

On tentative start: "All three performances have started in their own ways. Serbia we started well, Denmark we didn't start so well, today we didn't start great but we grew into the game. We started to create more as the game went on and the subs made a real difference, they brought a lot of energy. We just couldn't find that final finish."

More from England captain Harry Kane, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: If you look at previous tournaments we have played our best football in the knockout rounds. Last Euros against Germany, Ukraine and Denmark, so for sure there is more to come. Always the objective is to get through the group without any mishaps. We can improve, we know that, but you have to enjoy these moments when you finish top."

Last 16 opponents: "It is going to be difficult no matter who we play. Looking across the groups there have been some tough battles, there are no easy games now in these competitions. The important part of the tournament starts now, where it all counts and hopefully we can build some momentum."

The slight improvement between the last two games ,if another similar improvement can be made for the final 16 game, it might be enough to see us make the quarters.
