Keir Starmer congratulated Donald Trump on his 'historic victory' today after he swept swing states..by James Tapsfield of the good old Daily Maili.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/11/06/08/91743099-14047555-image-a-1_1730880445035.jpgThe Republican is set for an extraordinary return to the presidency, with the world braced for his bullish approach. And Sir Keir is facing a particular challenge after tensions flared over Labour supporters helping to campaign for the Democrat contender. The PM has also repeatedly clashed with billionaire Elon Musk, who looks certain to end up playing a key role in the Trump administration. Sir Keir said in a statement this morning: 'Congratulations President-elect Trump on your historic election victory. I look forward to working with you in the years ahead. 'As the closest of allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder in defence of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise. 'From growth and security to innovation and tech, I know that the UK-US special relationship will continue to prosper on both sides of the Atlantic for years to come.' Foreign Secretary David Lammy - who once branded Mr Trump a 'neo-Nazi-sympathising sociopath' - said: 'The UK has no greater friend than the US, with the special relationship being cherished on both sides of the Atlantic for more than 80 years. We look forward to working with you and @jdvance in the years ahead.' Sir Keir ordered Cabinet ministers to stay silent on the election for fear of further inflaming the situation. But MPs have been unable to resist expressing their dismay on social media this morning. Meanwhile, jubilant Reform MPs have been demanding that Sir Keir uses Nigel Farage's close friendship with Mr Trump to prop up the Special Relationship. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/11/05/10/91688129-14042945-image-a-4_1730803367663.jpg

At about the same age, 16-17 I think, I went to Ashton Gate with City supporting mates from Knowle as well. The indiscretions of youth eh. Probably what happens is you don't live your between pre-prescribed tram lines. But perhaps explains your limited ability to debate a point. The majority of your posts, consist of insulting those who disagree with you. You`re doing it now. That`s not debating points. But talking about limited ability, what happened to your family`s cautious optimism that Harris would win Pennsylvania? Oh, dear! Can you please let me know who they`re cautiously optimistic will win next year`s boat race? I`ll make a fortune betting on the other. My family are upset and with a degree of despair. My eldest grandson, who works in DC text me early this morning when it was clear Trump would win and asked me if I had a spare room😂😂 As for insulting you, what do you expect? Out of the blue and with no context to this thread you bring up something from my teenage years as if that is at all relevant. I confess that is all my fault for declaring that thought from my 17th year, I shouldn't have been so open, quite a few years ago now. But it is pathetic for you to keep raising it, so you can expect a challenge. Of course you could engage with this topic and the details rather than rabbit on about my youth. Try it.

Quite what he is doing there whilst drawing a salary as an MP, god knows.

You are aware that an MP does not have to be in his/her constituency 365 days a year?

But during the bitter campaign Mr Trump's team filed an official complaint with federal election authorities accusing Labour of making 'illegal foreign national contributions'. As a backbench MP in 2018, Mr Lammy wrote in Time magazine: 'Trump is not only a woman-hating, neo-Nazi-sympathising sociopath. 'He is also a profound threat to the international order that has been the foundation of Western progress for so long.' And in a 2018 Times article ahead of Trump's first visit to the UK, Lammy committed to be one of 'tens of thousands on the streets, protesting against our government's capitulation to this tyrant in a toupee.' i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/11/06/09/91745065-14047555-image-a-10_1730883972439.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/11/06/09/91745605-14047555-image-a-11_1730883977457.jpgTory MPs ridiculed Mr Lammy for his abrupt shift on Mr Trump

There you go again Oldie, totally missing the point. You are aware that an MP does not have to be in his/her constituency 365 days a year? Who said he had to be? Nobody. But Parliament is sitting and he represents a constituency. Has he held a constituency surgery yet?

But Parliament is sitting and he represents a constituency. Has he held a constituency surgery yet? "Who said he had to be? Nobody." - Then there is no problem with him being in the US is there ! "Has he held a constituency surgery yet?" - It is obvious why he hasn't held a constituency surgery. Security wise it is not safe for him. It is pretty obvious that it is not safe for him to be one-on-one in an office with someone, and people probably don't want two or three security guards standing there listening to the conversation. You are being a bit childish with this line of attack. You could say you are copying the Democrat's strategy. How did that go? Have you read about the murder of Sir David Amess? Apparently he had received death threats the night before the murder. These were dismissed and no Police protection was offered the following day because the Police do not attend constituency surgeries. "But Parliament is sitting and he represents a constituency." - Have you ever looked at Parliament TV during the day? You'll be lucky if there are more than 2% of MP's in the House at any point! The place is empty.

I've been flicking between BBC, Sky and Channel 4, and the meltdown is truly epic! It's only 10:58am and I've run out of popcorn already! I daren't put on CNN as I'd probably give myself a hernia from laughing so much.

I daren't put on CNN as I'd probably give myself a hernia from laughing so much. I will at some point enjoy this, but not yet.I stayed up all night and watched it unfold and never viewed anything on MSM, I followed podcasters. This was a fine and much needed victory. The 3rd one in a decade as last night proved that 2020 was stolen and the American population responded to this theft. The absolute destruction last night was created from the radically unbalanced Lefties and their obsession with lying about a man and calling him Hitler due to your dislike of the man, aided by the left sided MSM . Credit to, and God bless the USA.
