It says a lot about an individual who can afford to spend that kind of money on a watch, but then asks for help in deciding how to buy it. The word w****r comes to mind. More evidence that spending is out of control when even the waiters in the CJ Hole Hospitality Lounge can afford Patek Philippe watches. 😂😂😂😂😂

And how often you mention the fact that you know lots of high net worth individuals.

I have never understood high networth individuals, they all seem to have pimps doing their bidding on their behalf. Is it a well paid job as a pimp or is just living like a wealthy person for a day and being a Walter Mitty for 24 hours.

Is it a well paid job as a pimp or is just living like a wealthy person for a day and being a Walter Mitty for 24 hours. Due to my past, I know a few who are very, no, extremely well off but none of them would dream of asking for advice BUT I do understand that, for some, it feels good to have their wealth acknowledged and it doesn’t bother me one bit. What does worry me are some of the latter type can sometimes be a bit naive in who they divulge what they have and certain situations/places where it would be best not to show that wealth. For example, a couple who wear very rare time pieces to white collar boxing. I understand wanting to show wealth but not putting yourself on show in front of the very people who are most likely to steal. Personal shoppers have been a thing for years, I do not see any problem in asking a trusted person but only if you do not know the market. Horologists normally are, in my experience, well researched. The majority of those I know tend to buy as an investment. It does no harm and if you are asked, at least you can live vicariously via the buyer. What really grinds my gears are two who buy Hypercars, only to put 3000 miles on them, in 3 years. If I could afford one, you can bet I’d be going to track days and be part of the clubs that organise events and go away, all over the world

And get selfies with famous people. Baffling what wealth can do. Would I be close if I said nouveau riche ? Stinks of the mindset of a much younger and naive man. I’d love to be able to go to the SC open night but no places for non members, snuck in once and saw an ex poster of this place make a real fool of himself. Shame as I like him, even if he blocked me for simply not agreeing with him, on faces book. I did try private messaging but seems to want yes men but also pity..It was a pity his spoken words were not up to his usual well written blog Not a very popular subject is it KP With 95% of the fan base being apathetic about the business side of the club the problem is that the 5% who are willing to show they do care are divided and a great many of them believe any hard questioning of the ownership is disrespectful. So if a hard question is asked at the SC forum or at the AGM the questioner is likely to be heckled and knocked back by fellow Gasheads before the owners even get the chance not to answer it. One good question to ask would be about the Nationwide Finance loan and why it has not been repaid or refinanced at a more competitive rate. In looking at the West Brom takeover I found that their previous owners were running out of cash in December 2022 and had been forced to take out a 20 million loan with MSD Holdings at a 15% interest rate. If Rovers loan with Nationwide is for 5 million at a similar rate then the club will be paying 750 000 pa in interest ( 15000 per week) and yet we’ve been told the proposed East Stand extensions will be financed through another loan. Surely anyone with Rovers best interests at heart will be interested to know how all this interest is going to be paid ? Or is it just not that interesting ? It has been written, many times, on gaschat that the son of new owner reads the fora and it did seem to show with a small change to the younger ST prices. One can maybe hope that topics such as this will also maybe sting a little and we hear of a change to the loans and owings to businesses

Depending on what your specilaity is and what they want to purchase but it can be very lucrative. Some of these people dont want to be known, some people know what they want, but have no idea what they are looking at and others dont have time or inclination, they just want something delivered. There is a bit of a ride along thats nice occasionally, but they dont pay the mortgage so I certainly wouldn't get involved in something that I wouldnt earn any money from and I'm sure KP would say the same.

Hussain AlSaeed outlines latest plans for Mem redevelopment ahead of Bristol Rovers' busy summer..by Daniel Hargraves.i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/article8651546.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_WhatsApp-Image-2023-08-03-at-143417jpeg.jpgHussain AlSaeed (above centre) has revealed that the designs to develop the rest of the Memorial Stadium are almost complete, outlining his ambition to start work on the redevelopment of the ground in the 2025/26 season. The Bristol Rovers chairman publicly ruled out the idea of building a new stadium for the club at the Fruit Market site in St Phillips in late October, revealing that the plan was instead to redevelop the Mem and increase the total capacity to around 18,000. With the new South Stand now completed and open to supporters, the Kuwaiti stated that the next step would be to redevelop the East Stand and then the Thatcher's End. More recently, AlSaeed wrote an open letter to supporters a fortnight ago in which he outlined plans for redeveloping the Mem, stating that a 16,000 capacity would be the target and that the club "will keep you informed of our progress as we navigate the planning and approval process with the city council." On the latest regarding stadium plans, he told BBC Radio Bristol ahead of Saturday's 2-1 win over Carlisle United, "The design is almost completed. We can’t expose it to the public yet. We’ll have to talk to the council and discuss it with them and see what can and can’t be done. Once we go through that we will show it to the public, definitely. "I have ambition to build as soon as possible but sometimes things takes a bit more than usual. I would be looking, not for next season but the season after that when we will start. Hopefully it goes as well as we want it to." Although delayed, the presence of the South Stand has certainly made an impact on the atmosphere at the Mem since it first held fans for the 1-1 draw against Cheltenham Town on December 9. However, that particular project predates the Kuwaitis' arrival last summer having first been announced last April with club president Wael Al-Qadi leading it. How exactly the club will redevelop the East Stand and Thatcher's End is currently unclear but the assumption is that it won't be as straightforward as the South Stand project given that there had been temporary tents prior to its construction, whereas these are permanent structures. The East Stand is the largest at the Mem and hosts numerous season ticket holders, press and spectators in hospitality as well as having the club shop underneath. It also overlooks the dugouts. As for the Thatcher's End, that is predominantly known as the most atmospheric part of the stadium with safe standing in place for some of the noisier Gasheads. This all forms part of the club's three-year plan to be promoted to the Championship as outlined in the chairman's open letter in which the Kuwaiti also reaffirmed his backing of manager Matt Taylor and revealed that necessary funds will be provided to orchestrate successful summer recruitment in the upcoming transfer window. The Gas are expected to finish somewhere in mid-table this season with 12 League One matches remaining but are set for a busy summer, not just with recruitment but also development of infrastructure with The Quarters training ground also subject to redevelopment as well as the Mem as the club look to make the next leap.

'Completely different' - Hussain AlSaeed lifts lid on Bristol Rovers' summer transfer ethos..by Daniel Hargraves.i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9014808.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_3526660.jpgHussain AlSaeed expects Bristol Rovers' squad to look "completely different" come the start of the 2024/25 season in August after what is expected to be an extremely busy summer transfer window. The Gas currently have 13 permanently contracted players on expiring deals, although some have options to extend within their agreements, while there are six loanees who will return to their parent clubs. On top of that, the chairman recently outlined the club's plan to secure promotion to the Championship within the next three years and therefore investment into the playing squad is expected to be made over the course of the summer. Kamil Conteh's arrival from Grimsby Town in January has been flagged as the type of signing Rovers would like to continue making with the 21-year-old a raw talent with an abundance of potential and will no doubt continue to rise up the football pyramid down the line which will, hopefully, turn a healthy profit for the Gas eventually. Future recruitment has been a hot topic of late and will no doubt continue to be throughout the remainder of the current campaign with the Rovers chairman, when asked about how different the squad will look next season by BBC Radio Bristol, declaring: "Completely different. I think we have different strategies that we are going to implement and I think that’s a good chance for Matt and the team to have the squad they’re looking for and the players they want so I think it’s coming at a good time. "We will be concentrating on young talent. Certainly the average age will be lower and this what we are going to concentrate on. You see what we signed in the last window, Conteh, the age of 21 and that’s the sort of age we’re looking for. A younger team that we can build and take us through to the next three to five years." According to Transfermarkt, the current average age of the squad is 25.1 with midfielder and captain Sam Finley, striker John Marquis, homegrown defender Luca Hoole and winger Scott Sinclair are amongst the high profile names with current contracts set to expire in the summer. Additionally, top scorer Chris Martin, versatile defender Josh Grant and current first choice goalkeeper and academy product Jed Ward all have options in their current contracts to extend despite their deals expiring this summer. Furthermore, 36-year-old George Friend signed a contract until the end of the season when joining on a free transfer last summer but is expected to retire to take a boardroom role. Although AlSaeed revealed that the plan is to bring down the average age of the squad, Matt Taylor reinforced the fact that maintaining experienced heads in his roster and finding the right balance is important. "Youth and energy is part of it but you need to balance it off so you need the senior ones," the Gas boss insisted. "You can't get anywhere with just young players, you've got to get the balance right." Who will lead recruitment has been a topic of concern since the departure of Head of Football Operations Eddy Jennings at the back end of last year. However, it certainly sounds as though that's a problem that has been solved, to some extent at least. After Bristol Live revealed that Friend is expected to retire from playing and join the board in a senior recruitment role, AlSaeed was asked about recruitment staff, adding: "We don’t have to look outside too much, I think it’s all in house. We have a good player who has been with us and I think he’s getting ready to take the job. Probably Monday they will announce it. "I think he’s got the character, the experience, the relationship. I met with the owners respective and the managers and all that and I think he will do a good job in that position." That particular appointment is yet to be officially confirmed by the club at the time of writing but the 36-year-old has plenty of business experience based on his LinkedIn profile, being owner and director of GKI Sporting Investments. Who will lead recruitment has been a topic of concern since the departure of Head of Football Operations Eddy Jennings at the back end of last year. However, it certainly sounds as though that's a problem that has been solved, to some extent at least. The Kuwaiti also reinforced his support of Taylor who the Gas board are prepared to support in order to build his own team to guide the Pirates towards where they want to be. As things stand, only one permanently contracted player was signed during the 42-year-old's tenure and therefore the summer proves to be the first real opportunity for the Rovers manager to start sculpting his squad in a way he sees fit in order to be successful. Already there have been signs of the improvement the former Rotherham United and Exeter City boss will bring to the club through statement wins against the likes of Portsmouth and Bolton Wanderers but has evidently been frustrated at times with factors out of his control, such as repeated injury issues, and hasn't hidden away from the fact that change is needed, although emphasising that too much too soon isn't sustainable. On Taylor and backing him for the push for Championship football, AlSaeed said: "It’s only been two months. He needs more time. Definitely. A lot of the players were here before he came so we can’t really judge him at the moment. He’s doing a decent job so far with what we have. A lot of injuries as well did not help. "January was difficult and I think he needs a window or two in order to build his team but we’re behind him and we’re supporting him to really make that effort and go through hopefully. "We are going to do all we can to get there within that three year parameters. I think it is achievable, it's nothing out of the line, but we are doing a lot of things behind the scenes that perhaps the fans are not realising. The infrastructure, the club itself, the personnel, so many things that is going on that perhaps the fans can't see. "I think we are very confident that we will do our best to give a good team, a competitive team and I think we’ll get there hopefully."

'Twas amusing listening to the interviews as we drove home on Saturday evening... Firstly a re-run of Hussain AlSaeed pre-match interview, where he talks about the plan to get the average age of the squad down. Then not long afterwards, in Matt Taylor's post-match interview, the plan is mentioned to him and his first reaction is "Who's told you that?" :-) Good for Taylor he then goes on to say you need a balance in the side. As most would agree, a mixture of youth and experience is the way to go. And the AlSaeed interview gives away the fact that George Friend will be the new Head of Recruitment, when it wasn't supposed to be announced until Monday. (Well, it's Monday today and haven't seen an official announcement!) www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0h9rsv523.20 = Re-run of part of Hussain AlSaeed pre-match interview. 37.00 = Start of Matt Taylor's post-match interview. 39.55 = Matt Taylor's reaction to the interviewer saying we've heard the likelihood is next season the average age of the squad will come down next season.

Interesting plans on and off the field. As ever the devil will be in the detail with regard to the stadium regeneration. And how it gets funded. Because if it's their money - they must know it's just not going to generate a meaningful profit for a long time (if any profit at all ). If it's borrowed, then that's just more debt. Hey. Maybe it will all go swimmingly, and they have a cunning plan. I can't help my cynicism. All part of the Rovers DNA.

MT is correct.
Rather than look at age as the problem, what we need to look at is appearances across the last 3 years.
Chris Martin has demonstrated a 30 game+ season all of his pro career regularly playing 40 games. We see the result of a proper experienced pro dropping down a level. Hes been a good signing and we should offer him a new deal for next season also to bring on younger pros too.
James Wilson and George Friend have been regular injury victims. At 34 and 36, What makes anyone think it would improve now?
Ian Atkins would not sign anyone that hadn't played 30 games for 3 seasons straight. We hardly had any injuries in seasons 05-07.
So yes signing young pros is good, like Conteh, but not all of them will be like him and they still need experienced pros to play off.
With each interview that HAS does, there seems either to be a breakdown in communication on what the plan might be from the top, no communication at all, or HAS is really poor at not giving anything away in his interviews.
I do fear there is a disconnect between management and ownership.

Richard Mille are making a fortune now. I have to be careful but I inherited one , I very rarely wear it though and normally use my Tag or Breitling. I keep being told not to sell the Rolex. I love IWC watches personally as I see so many wearing Rolex now. The green faced Daytona is one of the few I really do like

Sid and Doris Bonkers always used to wear a 1925 Schmetterling. Indeed, they met at a thé dansant organized in 1948 by Heuschrecke GmbH (the successor company). The rest is fantasy.
