Tottenham loan Ivan Perisic to Hajduk Split for rest of season and chase Club Bruges' Antonio Nusa..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/08BD/production/_132373220_gettyimages-1640195699.jpg Ivan Perisic has won 129 caps for CroatiaTottenham winger Ivan Perisic has joined Croatian club Hajduk Split on loan until the end of the season. Perisic sustained a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in September and is expected to miss the rest of the campaign. The 36-year-old's contract with Tottenham expires in the summer when Hajduk Split say he will sign a one-year deal with them. "We wish Ivan all the best for the future," Tottenham said. Perisic spent part of his youth career with Hajduk Split in his homeland but left before making a senior appearance. He joined Tottenham on a two-year deal from Inter Milan in 2022 and has featured on 50 occasions for the Premier League side, scoring one goal and assisting 14. Perisic's last appearance came on 16th September when he came off the bench and laid on an assist for Richarlison to help Spurs claim a dramatic 2-1 win against Sheffield United. Hajduk Split sit top of their domestic league - the HNL - and return to action after the winter break against Rijeka on 28 January. Meanwhile, Spurs are in talks with Club Bruges about signing 18-year-old forward Antonio Nusa..(below) The highly rated Norway winger could return to Bruges on loan if a deal is completed. Nusa would become Spurs' third signing of the January transfer window after the arrival of Timo Werner on loan and the £25m deal for Radu Dragusin. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/78da/live/ae8291f0-b6e6-11ee-ab6e-3dcd5bd12d17.jpg

Leeds United are working on permanent deal to sign on-loan Tottenham and Wales defender Joe Rodon, 26, who is valued at more than £15m. Billionaire Joe Lewis pleads guilty to insider trading.. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2023/09/05/16/73651971-12483121-The_billionaire_s_300m_bond_was_secured_by_his_superyacht_Aviva_-a-10_1693926133379.jpgUK billionaire Joe Lewis, whose family trust owns Tottenham Hotspur football club, has pleaded guilty to insider trading in a US court. Lewis, 86, was accused of passing on information about his companies to his private pilots, friends, personal assistants and romantic partners. US authorities say that the fraud netted millions of dollars in profit. Lewis pleaded guilty to conspiracy and two counts of securities fraud as part of a deal with prosecutors. He will be sentenced in March. Lewis founded the investment firm Tavistock Group and was ranked 39th on the 2023 Sunday Times Rich List, with an estimated worth of more than £5bn ($6.4bn). He was arrested in July 2023 and charged with sixteen counts of securities fraud and three counts of conspiracy. Prosecutors had alleged that between 2013 and 2021, he abused his access to corporate board rooms and passed the insider information on to his contacts. In court in Manhattan on Wednesday, Lewis admitted he knew what he was doing was wrong. "I am so embarrassed and I apologise to the court for my conduct," he said.

Saturday 10th February 2024 - Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 1
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1609/production/_132614650_gettyimages-1993340258-1.jpg
Report By Bobbie Jackson, BBC Sport.Brennan Johnson scored deep into additional time to deliver a come-from-behind Premier League victory for Tottenham against Brighton. Brighton's Pascal Gross opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Danny Welbeck had been fouled by Micky van de Ven, sending goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario the wrong way. Tottenham responded well to falling behind, creating a raft of chances, but Jason Steele made several good saves to deny the in-form Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski, while James Maddison curled narrowly wide. The momentum remained firmly in Spurs' favour when the second half got under way with Rodrigo Bentancur, Maddison and Timo Werner attempting efforts at goal as the majority of the action took place deep in Brighton territory. They continued to probe and that pressure eventually told when Sarr latched on to a lovely through ball from Kulusevski before finishing at the second attempt after his initial shot was deflected on to the post. Captain Son Heung-min was introduced after the equaliser, making his first appearance of 2024 for Spurs after returning from duty with South Korea at the Asian Cup, and the forward had a major hand in the winning goal as he laid the ball across goal for Johnson to convert. Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, speaking to BBC Match of the Day, said: "It's fair to say that we are still a work in progress but we had a world-class player in Son [Heung-min], who makes the most difficult ball look simple to set up Brennan [Johnson]. "It was a great finish for us and the supporters." The win moves Tottenham up to fourth - one point clear of Aston Villa, who host Manchester United on Sunday - while Brighton stay eighth.

Tottenham 2-1 Brighton: What Postecoglou said:Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was a great finish for us and the supporters. "It's a reward for our second half efforts, but we weren't great in the first half. Part of that was because Brighton are a great team and we lacked some discipline. "It's fair to say that we are still a work in progress but we had a world-class player in Son [Heung-min], who makes the most difficult ball look simple to set up Brennan [Johnson]. "Going into the game, we looked at the squad and knew we had the ability to change it up. It's fair to say that helped us. "Brighton tried to contain us and looked a bit fatigued, so it was good to be able to bring players on." ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/b558/live/053310d0-c847-11ee-8a4e-65739302f3f4.jpg

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/aa42/live/97491bb0-c84a-11ee-896d-39d9bd3cadbb.jpgWe asked you for your thoughts on Saturday's Premier League match between Tottenham and Brighton.
Here are some of your comments:
Spurs fans
Anton: Delighted with a win over a very good Brighton side. Son Heung-min was a positive influence on the team. It was great to see Ange Postecoglou determined to keep doing things his way! A very good three points which keeps us in with a shot of Champion's League football. Paul: We were better in the second half but the first half was awful. We gave the ball away too easily and we were much too slow when we did put a few passes together. Although he has scored a few lately, Richarlison is not good enough on the ball and play breaks down too often when he gets involved. Son should play down the middle with Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson. A win is a win. Jack: I think that Spurs were pure brilliance, having at total of 16 shots. I do feel for Brighton as it must have hurt to be leading throughout the whole of the first half and then to lose it in the last couple of minutes. It must have been agony to take in. John: Suffice to say we are definitely giving our fans a rollercoaster of a ride that at my age is not recommended by my doctors. Well done lads for your bravery and stubbornness. Please can you all make the above conditions a permanent part of your DNA!

Tottenham and Manchester United are pushing hardest to sign Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite, while Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid have all enquired about the 21-year-old England Under-21 centre-back.

Analysis: Tottenham 1-2 Wolves..by Michael Emons, BBC Sport journalist.ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/b99c/live/99e30130-cdc0-11ee-8781-21d5598471d6.pngTottenham's run of five home Premier League wins came to an end on a frustrating day for Ange Postecoglou's side as they were beaten by Wolves. Spurs named captain Son Heung-min in their starting 11 for the first time since his involvement at the Asian Cup with South Korea, but he was unable to inspire his side. Postecoglou was left disappointed with his side's first-half performance that saw them fail to register a shot on target in the opening 45 minutes. They also went in a goal down after poor marking from a corner enabled Joao Gomes to power in a header just before the break. Spurs had fought back from conceding first to win their home matches against Brentford and Brighton and Postecoglou would have demanded an improved second half. He got it as after 34 seconds it was 1-1 thanks to Dejan Kulusevski prodding the ball through the legs of Jose Sa. But Kulusevski missed two further chances to put Spurs ahead and they were then hit with a clinical counter attack as Wolves pounced on Yves Bissouma's error with Pedro Neto's pull-back converted by Gomes for his and Wolves' second goal. The defeat drops Spurs down to fifth in the Premier League and they have a long wait before they play again with their next fixture coming on 2nd March.

Tottenham 1-2 Wolves: What Ange Postecoglou said:
ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/fa57/live/6f89d230-c684-11ee-8685-316409d66f25.jpg
Ange Postecoglou speaking to BBC Match of the Day after Tottenham's loss to Wolves:"Again, we weren't great first half. We controlled the game enough but we weren't threatening enough. Chasing the game is always difficult, against a team that is so good on the counter-attack, and we were made to pay for it. "Both goals are disappointing from our point of view. We paid the price for not being as concentrated or disciplined in our football. "It wasn't through the lack of effort. We had them camped in their half and then they break and score the goal. You can't keep coming from behind and doing that every week. We need to be better in the first half. "We have had injuries all year and certainly performed better than that." On whether the loss rules them out of the title race completely: "We are chasing trying to be the best possible team we can and progress this year to build something. That doesn't change. Our focus is on trying to finish strong and developing our football team."

Eric Dier: England and Tottenham defender triggers one-year contract option with Bayern Munich..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/A486/production/_132781124_gettyimages-2037114061.jpg Eric Dier began his professional career with Portuguese outfit Sporting LisbonEngland defender Eric Dier has triggered an option to make his move to Bayern Munich permanent this summer to signal the end of his Tottenham career. Dier, 30, joined Bayern on loan until the end of the season in January after he fell out of favour at Spurs. The deal included a clause which would activate a new 12-month contract at the Allianz Arena if he played a certain number of games at Bayern. Dier's contract with Tottenham was set to expire on 30th June. He has played six times for Thomas Tuchel's side, including four starts for the defending Bundesliga champions. Cheltenham-born Dier joined Tottenham in a £4m deal from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon in 2014 and made 274 Premier League appearances for the club. However, he made just one league start under Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou before he followed Harry Kane to Bavaria. Dier has been capped 49 times by England since making his debut for the Three Lions in November 2015.

Richarlison: Knee injury rules out Tottenham forward for three to four weeks..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/112FD/production/_132779307_gettyimages-2011413525.jpg Richarlison has scored 14 goals in 60 appearances for Spurs across all competitions since joining the club in 2022Tottenham forward Richarlison will be out for "three to four weeks" with a knee injury, says boss Ange Postecoglou. The Brazilian, 26, picked up the injury in Spurs' 2-1 defeat by Wolves last time out. Richarlison has scored 10 goals in 22 top-flight appearances so this season. "Richy is disappointed because he's been a key contributor, but that has been how our season has gone," said Postecoglou. Nine of Richarlison's goals have come in his past 10 matches. Tottenham have struggled with injuries in recent weeks with Postecoglou still without defender Pedro Porro, and Ryan Sessegnon is set to miss the rest of the season after having surgery on his hamstring this week. But, they could be boosted by the return of full-back Destiny Udogie, who was back in training this week. Tottenham, who are fifth in the Premier League and five points off fourth-placed Aston Villa, host Crystal Palace on Saturday.

South Korea forward Son Heung-min is happy at Tottenham with formal talks on a new contract for the 31-year-old set to get under way. Tottenham 3-1 Crystal Palace..by Matthew Henry, BBC Sport journalist.ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/720/cpsprodpb/db9b/live/f535be70-d8be-11ee-a79a-a528d0194eb3.jpgHad Spurs been beaten by Crystal Palace, their first season under Ange Postecoglou would have been in danger of petering out, given they are already out of all cup competitions. Instead, the pressure has been applied to Aston Villa as they hunt a top-four finish which will guarantee Champions League football next season, even if fifth could yet secure the deal. The first half was one of frustration as Tottenham struggled for a cutting edge without striker Richarlison, who has been ruled out for a month with injury. The spark was provided, perhaps unexpectedly, by Brennan Johnson. He replaced Rodrigo Bentancur in the 59th minute and had already missed a good chance before smartly setting up Timo Werner. Werner's goal should give him confidence - something that was clearly lacking when he failed to convert when one-on-one in the first half. Once the German levelled there only looked like one winner as Spurs swept to a victory that keeps their season rolling on. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/ef0a/live/34531470-d9fc-11ee-90ec-77dc2065e4b9.jpg

'The reaction was outstanding' - Ange Postecoglou..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/7e4e/live/15a89dc0-d8bb-11ee-af96-c1efa284166f.jpg
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, speaking to BBC Sport: "Persistence, some quality, belief. It wasn't easy game with them sitting so deep. "We needed a goal to open them up but still kept composed and disciplined. When they got their goal it was only time they got the ball in our half. The reaction was outstanding. "It was a game we should have won a lot more comfortably but we had real belief in the process and were not getting swayed by things not going our way. I thought the mentality was first rate. On Timo Werner's first goal for Spurs: "For all of the attacking players goals are important. I thought he was having good game generally [despite first-half miss]. He didn't stop believing, got into the right area and outstanding work from Brennan [Johnson, who provided the cross]." On James Maddison's assist for the second goal and Son Heung-min's late strike: "In those moments looking for leaders and our last three goals were the leaders we have in the group. Son deserved his goal. He worked hard. That is the person you want on the ball."

Here are some of your comments:
Tottenham fans
Howard: Supporting Spurs has and probably never will be easy. Subs made the difference and I am so relieved that Timo Werner has finally got the goal he so desperately needed. Top four is still on. Gerard: Delighted with the win but disappointed with the performance for 75 minutes. It seems to be happening too often - tiki-taka football often without end result. Hopefully we can build on today's result and have a strong ending to the season. Matt: Many will bemoan the lack of thrust since the start of the season but there is a lot to be excited about. We've had a run against hardworking teams set up to frustrate us but we're dominating possession. We need to be patient. The current top teams started by owning the ball and needed time to develop their attacks. The cutting edge will come. John: All I can say is, thank you lads for a great fightback. Just go to Villa next week with a mean temper mood, and give them a very hard time.

Here are some of your responses:
Tottenham fans
Paul: Another woeful first half with no intensity and too many misplaced passes in the final third. The second half was different as we moved the ball quicker through the lines. Romero looked as if he was playing in slow motion and he needs to stop playing backwards and sideways as often as he does. Johnson turned the game as Kulusevski looked off it. COYS. Ernie: It was an important win but a struggle to get it. We cannot continue giving the opposition the lead because we find it so difficult to turn things around. Once again the obvious lack of a plan B leaves everything looking so pedestrian. If Luton had only had more courage they could possibly have done what Fulham did. Thankfully they didn't! Doug: What a hard fought three points. We were unlucky not to get more goals. Not taking anything away from Luton as they gave us a real battle. Johnson was fantastic again and he had a massive impact coming on in the second half, he’s really showing his true quality now but the whole team put a shift in. I love Luton’s spirit and I hope they stay up. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/b4/Tottenham_Hotspur.svg/120px-Tottenham_Hotspur.svg.png

Meanwhile, Tottenham have joined the race to sign Leeds United's 18-year-old midfielder Archie Gray, with Liverpool also interested in the England Under-21 international.
