ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2303/live/625964e0-a7bc-11ee-beb5-e1400df560f2.jpgWe asked for your reflections on Hugo Lloris' Tottenham career after it was announced the modern day Spurs legend would leave the club after 11 years for MLS side Los Angeles FC.
Here are some of your thoughts:
Christopher: I will always remember Hugo as not only one of the club's greatest goalkeepers, but captains too. Despite his position on the pitch, he led the team well and with great poise, but I feel that he was likely to have been most valuable off the field of play. He is a great servant to N17 and beyond and his community endeavours and charm will be sorely missed. Nick: Hugo has been superb for Spurs over his long career with us. One of our best ever. I only wish him all the best in his new project. William: Captain, leader, legend - a phrase that truly sums up Hugo Lloris’ time at Spurs, for me. He led the team superbly, including to a Champions League final, and pulled off some mind-boggling saves. Although his form tailed off, I still find it strange to see anyone else in goal, having grown up with Lloris as an ever present and my first Spurs hero. Tim: Fantastic shot-stopper in his prime. Some ridiculous, cat-like double saves which kept us in so many big games. I never trusted his distribution though. He’d take too long and then broadcast where it was going, allowing the opposition to press our defender. But Hugo has been an amazing servant to the club and all Spurs fans will wish him well. Tristen: I was surprised we were able to keep his services during the prime of his career. From 2015 to 2018 he was the best keeper in the world. It’s a shame he wasted his career with us and won nothing domestically. Deserved better then us, but he did win the ultimate prize in world football in 2018. All the best, Hugo.

Sergio Reguilon: Left-back returns to Tottenham as Manchester United end loan deal..By Simon Stone, BBC Sport.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/DB72/production/_132187165_gettyimages-1771546192.jpg Sergio Reguilon has made 67 appearances for Tottenham since joining in September 2020Manchester United have triggered a break clause in Sergio Reguilon's loan move, allowing the defender to return to Tottenham. Reguilon was signed by United in August following injuries to the club's left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. The 27-year-old made 12 appearances, most recently as a late substitute at Nottingham Forest on Saturday. He started on seven occasions, most recently in the 3-0 home defeat by Bournemouth on 9th December. With Shaw and Malacia expected to return to action this month, United have opted to let Reguilon return to Premier League rivals Tottenham. Spurs are fifth in the table, one point outside the top four, while Ange Postecoglou's side are also eight points and two places above Erik ten Hag's struggling United team with half the season played.

Pape Matar Sarr: Tottenham midfielder signs new contract until 2030..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/15F2A/production/_132189898_gettyimages-1897534487.jpg Pape Matar Sarr has 18 caps for SenegalTottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has signed a new six-and-a-half-year contract. The Senegal international, 21, has played 18 times for Ange Postecoglou's side in the Premier League this season. The new deal keeps him at the club until the summer of 2030. Sarr has been named in Senegal's squad for this month's Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon), but his participation may be in doubt after he went off injured in Sunday's 3-1 win over Bournemouth. After scoring the opening goal, Sarr left the field in the first half in tears, with Senegal's Afcon campaign in the Ivory Coast starting on 15th January against Gambia. Sarr joined Tottenham from Metz in 2021 but spent the 2021-22 season back on loan with the French side. Since making his Spurs debut in January 2023, Sarr has made 33 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice.

The German scored 23 goals in 89 appearances for Chelsea and returned to Leipzig in 2022. Timo would like to go to the European Championship," Rose told Sky Germany. "We wish him all the best and are keeping our fingers crossed for him." Werner has 57 Germany caps but last played for his country in a friendly defeat by Belgium in March 2023. Timo Werner: Tottenham complete loan signing of Germany forward from RB Leipzig..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/E975/production/_132256795_gettyimages-1854676376.jpg Timo Werner began his career at Stuttgart before joining RB Leipzig in 2016Tottenham Hotspur have signed Germany striker Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig until the end of the season. The 27-year-old's move includes an option to be made permanent in the summer. He bolsters Tottenham's forward options with Son Heung-min away with South Korea for the Asian Cup and James Maddison sidelined with injury. "I spoke with the [Spurs] manager [Ange Postecoglou] and it was a really good talk," said Werner. "He gave me straight away the feeling what I need to join a club and what I want to feel when you talk to a manager. "Also, that tactics and style, how he wants to play. For me, I thought straight away that it fits perfectly." Werner has Premier League experience with Chelsea after joining the Blues in a £45m move from Bundesliga club Leipzig in 2020. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/fd48/live/4e53e060-af23-11ee-b235-250886daf873.jpgHe scored 23 goals in 89 appearances for Chelsea, winning the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup, before returning to Leipzig in 2022. He has scored two goals in 14 appearances this season but missed Saturday's friendly with St Gallen because transfer talks were taking place with Tottenham. Werner has 57 Germany caps but last played for his country in a friendly defeat by Belgium in March 2023. His move is subject to international clearance but Werner could be available when Spurs play at Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, 14 January (16:30 GMT). Tottenham are fifth in the top flight, six points behind leaders Liverpool. "I hope I can be the best player I can be here," added Werner. "I can play every position up front - that's one of my strengths. "My aim is to fight for another win in this league and also maybe for titles. "When I joined my old club [Chelsea] I also said I wanted to be a winner and win titles. In the end we won the Champions League, so I think it should not be too bad to also win titles and to win something."

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/cdbf/live/2af78640-aee6-11ee-8f07-bbfdfa890097.pngTottenham are edging closer to signing Genoa defender Radu Dragusin, so what would the 21 year-old add to Ange Postecoglou's side? After signing for Genoa in 2022, Dragusin has been a mainstay in defence. The centre-back has played in every single league game since he arrived at the club, making 38 appearances last season as Genoa gained automatic promotion from Serie B. His durability seems evident as he has played in all 19 Serie A games so far this season. He's also become a key member of his national team since making his debut in 2022, starting in all 10 of Romania's Euro 2024 qualifying matches as they topped their qualification group. Tottenham fans can seemingly expect a consistently available and reliable player in Dragusin. With only 40 top-flight appearances to his name, Dragusin's lack of experience may be a concern for Tottenham fans but Bayern Munich's reported interest in the player may be a reassurance that Spurs could be bringing a desirable and talented centre-back to North London.

The defender sustained a hamstring injury in Spurs' 4-3 defeat by Chelsea in November and had been unavailable until being included in the matchday squad for the FA Cup win over Burnley. Ange Postecoglou's side face Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday and Van de Ven - who has impressed since his summer move - could be set for a return on the pitch with fellow defender Ben Davies now injured. "I'm really happy to be back," Van de Ven told the club website. "It's always a good feeling to be back with the squad and be on the bench. Next week a big game is coming [against Manchester United] so hopefully I'll get some minutes over there. "I'm feeling fit, I have no pain anymore, so I think I'm ready. It's long, it was like 10 weeks I've been out It's frustrating when you have to watch from the sidelines. "It's a really good time for the players to come back, it's an important second half of the season ahead so hopefully everybody will stay fit, and we'll see what will happen."

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2303/live/625964e0-a7bc-11ee-beb5-e1400df560f2.jpgWe asked for your thoughts after Tottenham Hotspur were drawn at home to Manchester City in the FA Cup fourth round.
Here are some of your responses.Isla: Can’t believe the first two rounds are both against Premier League clubs! However our home record against Manchester City is impeccable so we still stand a good chance. If we win this match then I think other teams will be more frightened to play us. Matt: Eight-time winners, of course we’ll beat City. Even without Sonny. In Ange we trust. Sam: A really tough draw with the big injury list we seem to have at the moment as well as missing out on Son, Bissouma and Sarr with international tournaments. However, we have to remain positive and just try our hardest to step up against a tough side. We seem to be City's bogey team so who knows. Matt: I'm a Spurs supporter living in Manchester, my seven-year-old son supports City and as I never get bored of telling him..."Spurs don't fear City. It's the other way round." Bring it on. Tel: Tough game against a world class side but these are the games we must win if we want silverware and titles.

Eric Dier transfer news: Tottenham defender close to Bayern Munich move..By Alex Howell, BBC Sport.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1433B/production/_132274728_gettyimages-1712265433.jpg Dier has featured four times for Spurs this season in the Premier League, starting just one of those gamesTottenham defender Eric Dier is close to completing a move to Bayern Munich for a fee of 4m euros (£3.4m). Dier, 29, has been pictured in Germany before having a medical with the German champions. The England international has been out of favour under Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou, making four Premier League appearances this season. Spurs are set to complete the signing of Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin for around £25m. Dier will join former Tottenham and England team-mate Harry Kane at 32-time Bundesliga champions Bayern. Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel said in a news conference on Thursday: "He's a specialist at centre-back. He has also played as a six in the Premier League, but not any more for a long time. "We're getting him for the centre-back position, can play right or left centre-back as well as in back three." Dier, who only has six months left on his current Spurs deal, has been capped 49 times by England but struggled to claim a first-team place for Tottenham this season. Postecoglou said his side could afford to lose Dier, despite injury problems in defence. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/4603/live/27b6b300-b06e-11ee-97b3-13a7d1193734.jpgCristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have both suffered with injuries this season and Postecoglou has played full-backs Ben Davies and Emerson Royal in central defence in recent weeks to cover gaps in the back line. Dier joined Tottenham in a £4m deal from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon in 2014 and has made 274 Premier League appearances, but he has started only one league game this season. Spurs have already been active in the transfer window, bringing in former Chelsea striker Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig with Romanian Dragusin close to joining the club and defender Djed Spence heading in the other direction as part of a 25m euros (£21.5m) deal. Tottenham, fifth in the Premier League, are next in action on 14 January at Manchester United. Bayern Munich are second in the Bundesliga, four points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen but with a game in hand as they look to become German champions for a 12th successive time. UPDATE: Eric Dier: Tottenham's England defender moves to Bayern Munich on loan...

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2303/live/625964e0-a7bc-11ee-beb5-e1400df560f2.jpgWe asked you for your views on the loan signing of Timo Werner.
Here are some of your comments:
Chris: Signing Werner is totally risk-free, as far as I see it. Who else were Spurs realistically going to sign in a January transfer window and who suits their style of play? If he adapts well, it could be a genius signing but if it doesn't go well, they can look again in the summer. Son will be back in a month anyway! Heath: Spurs without Son. The new signing is going to do nothing. Why bother? Jockney: Great move. He is very much in the Ange mould with a fast tempo and attacking style. Really smart with Son away, so he's got every chance to prove himself. I really hope it works out for him and the club. Cornelius: Absolutely and utterly stupid .We saw how rubbish it went for him with Chelsea so what’s going to stop it from happening with another major English side? I know we need a replacement for Harry Kane but Timo Werner has already proved to be a nuisance. John: Werner could be a great signing if he scores goals. Richarlison knows he needs to step up and be more clinical. Now he has competition .Werner has had his issues previously with offside and missing chances when he was at Chelsea. However, if he hits the ground running, Ange Postecoglou could have a selection headache and make Spurs a real threat up top. Dan: Is this a joke?! This has to be the most ridiculous and random transfer ever. He’s already played in the Premier League before and he was atrocious. His stats since are a bit rubbish as well. It feels like Ange didn’t really stop and think about this one. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/964f/live/bddbda90-afce-11ee-b943-0bb3d149479a.jpg

Radu Dragusin: Tottenham complete £25m deal for Genoa defender..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/10C9D/production/_132256786_gettyimages-1912102578.jpg Radu Dragusin has scored two goals in Serie A this seasonTottenham have signed Romania defender Radu Dragusin from Italian side Genoa for £25m. Dragusin, 21, becomes the club's second signing of the January window after Germany forward Timo Werner joined on loan from RB Leipzig. The Romania international, who has 13 senior caps, started all 22 of Serie A side Genoa's matches this season. Spurs defender Djed Spence has joined Genoa on loan for the rest of the season as part of the deal. Dragusin, who has signed a deal that keeps him with Tottenham until the summer of 2030, began his career at Juventus and spent time on loan with Genoa before making a permanent move last summer. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/f7d3/live/0dc0eaa0-b0b5-11ee-bc2f-cb5579b90709.jpg

"Bayern are one of the biggest clubs in the world... I can't believe we turned down Bayern. Radu had given Spurs his word and chose to respect this," agent Florin Manea told the Romania media. Dragusin is not the finished article and he will make mistakes, and perhaps the unrelenting pressure of Bayern would not have been ideal. It's no secret Dragusin follows the Premier League closely. He had hoped to play in England one day and the opportunity has finally arrived. Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham's ambitious manager, may have had a big part to play with the player's decision to choose Spurs. Dragusin has been open about the importance of the relationships he has forged with his coaches. Postecoglou seems like the perfect man to help guide the defender as he takes the next step in his career. Spurs are building something special and by the summer, if all goes well, they may well just add a few more Serie A pieces to the mix.

With a number of top clubs from around Europe interested in the Genoa defender - including Bayern Munich - Spurs will hope their latest recruit from Serie A for a fee of around 25m euros will boost their top-four prospects. But who is the 21-year-old who was playing Serie B football just a few months ago, and why has he opted for Tottenham over some of Europe's biggest clubs? One, the man is tall, around 6ft 3ins, with a strong physique. Such physical attributes have proven to be a hot commodity in Italy, especially in the search for the next great defender. The second and arguably more important quality, is the player's character. A hard worker with ambitions to continue progressing, these are the qualities that have always enthralled Fabio Paratici, the former Juventus sporting director, who helped bring him to Italy in 2018. Moving on loan to Sampdoria and then Salernitana, Dragusin finally arrived at Genoa and was able to play regularly. Dubbed the 'Bodyguard of Genoa' in a headline, the centre-back proved immense in Serie B last season. He featured in every league match, with Genoa boasting the second tightest defence and being duly promoted. Back in Serie A, the player's development has been clear to see.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou speaking to MOTD: "You always want to win games but I couldn't be prouder of the players. They have had to deal with a fair bit this week and to put on a performance like that... I thought the way we handled the game was outstanding. "They are a good team on the counter. For the most part we dealt with it OK. Our response to both of their goals was outstanding and I thought in the second half we were the better side and deserved to win. "We've had a rough week with some illness in the camp. Credit to the players they kept going to the end. It was an outstanding effort. "Timo had two training sessions and played 60 minutes for the club. He was outstanding. "We have 10 days until the next game, hopefully get some players back and at least some training into these boys. We will give them some time off because they have earned it." Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, speaking to Sky Sports: "I'm delighted mate. I thought we played really well. It wasn't the greatest of starts being a goal down particularly here. Our response was outstanding and our football after that was really good. In the second half we really controlled the game. We've had a really rough week off the field with illness and other things." On sticking to game plan: "We got in before that. We had a nice little passage and got up the park. Manchester United on the transition are still a very good team. Players like Rashford, Bruno and Garnacho can unlock any defence. We did everything today. That's where our strengths lie and theirs. If you give the ball away, there's always that threat. Both full-backs had tough jobs." Control Man United: "You're aware of it but you're never going to totally deal with it. This fool proof system everyone is seeking will never exist. Some of our football was outstanding today." Set piece goal: "Mason is in charge of attacking set pieces and he's doe a fantastic job all year. We knew we'd need players in playing their first game for a while." On Kulusevski absence: "He hadn't trained all week, Skippy was under the weather and so was Destiny. All year we've just got on with it. It was a big game, particularly away from home. Romero was outstanding as the skipper." Getting more players back: "I hope so. This tunnel has been pretty long. We've done alright." Tottenham came back from behind twice in a pulsating Premier League encounter to deny Manchester United a victory in front of new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Ratcliffe, attending his first game since a proposed 25% purchase of his boyhood club was confirmed on Christmas Eve, said beforehand that he was "very excited" to be there. And he saw Rasmus Hojlund drive United into a third-minute lead. But Ratcliffe's pre-match assertion that United "normally do well against Spurs" wasn't quite borne out here. Brazilian striker Richarlison levelled with his sixth goal in as many Premier League games for the visitors, who were without three players, including captain Son Heung-min - away with South Korea at the Asian Cup. Marcus Rashford put the hosts ahead before the break, but Rodrigo Bentancur wiped out the advantage a minute after the restart with a blistering shot, his first goal since April, during which time he has recovered from a cruciate knee ligament injury and an ankle problem. The rest of the game would have been an education for Ratcliffe, who sat next to Sir Alex Ferguson in the directors' box. United had less than 40% possession, nine shots against Tottenham's 16 and only a third of the visitors' six on target.

Here are some of your comments:
Spurs fans
Mob: Totally dominant performance which deserved three points. Our defending however, was our downfall. For all his brilliant forward play, Porro wasn’t good defensively. I’d say we let two points slip, but didn’t do the 'Spursy' thing and lose the game. Adam: Incredible Spurs performance, missing key players and totally dominated. United are unbelievably poor, play with no personality and deserved nothing from the game. Fully fit and with all players available, Spurs would have demolished them. Colin: I thought we played brilliantly, all the players gave everything but obviously some were outstanding. How we were losing at half time I just don't know. Get the players back from injury and stop these red cards and we will have a very, very good team . Anf: Werner had a decent debut - he needs to work on tracking back but that will come. Disappointing we couldn't find the winner but we dominated away at United so reluctantly I'll take it.

Sergio Reguilon: Brentford sign Tottenham left-back on loan..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/610C/production/_132344842_gettyimages-1585166839.jpg Sergio Reguilon has played six games for SpainBrentford have signed Tottenham's Spanish defender Sergio Reguilon on loan until the end of the season. The left-back, 27, spent the first half of the season on loan at Manchester United but that deal was terminated by the Old Trafford club this month. He joined Spurs from Real Madrid in 2020 and spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid. "This is a very good signing for us," said Brentford manager Thomas Frank. "Sergio is a perfect fit for us." He added: "We've been talking for a while about how we need a good left-back, and we managed to get a very good left-back. "He fits what we want. He's very offensive, has a very good cross and a very good left foot. "He's got the experience we need to complement the rest of the squad and he's a good character. "We need him, but I also think he needs us to show how good a footballer he is. I'm convinced that this will be a positive partnership." Reguilon, who made 12 appearances for United, could make his debut in Saturday's Premier League match against Nottingham Forest, a game that will also see striker Ivan Toney return for the Bees. Brentford are 16th in the Premier League, three points above the relegation zone. Reguilon said: "I'm very happy, I think this is what I need now in this moment in my career. "Thomas was key in this move, for me. I'm in a moment where I need to play consistently and I think this club can give me that. These six months, I will do everything for the team, but it's also important for my future. "The team has to re-focus in the Premier League, Ivan [Toney]'s back and I think we can do many things together."

The 24-year-old defender is the first signing for Lions manager Joe Edwards since taking charge in December. Tanganga, who came through the Spurs academy, made his Premier League debut in a 1-0 loss to Liverpool in in 2020. "Japhet expressed a strong desire to come to Millwall," said Alex Aldridge, Millwall director of football operations and recruitment. Tanganga represented England from under-16 level through to the under-21s, and was selected in the 2021 Under-21 European Championship squad. The central defender, who can also play at full-back, is expected to be available for Saturday's London derby against Queens Park Rangers in the Championship. "Japhet is hungry and motivated to play games, he has some excellent attributes as a defender and has played at a very high level with Tottenham Hotspur, so we feel he is a really positive addition and we look forward to working with him," Aldridge added.

Napoli would be interested in Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg if Tottenham decide to sell the 28-year-old in January. Romania defender Radu Dragusin, 21, says he turned down a late move from Bayern Munich to join Tottenham as Spurs "wanted me from a long time ago". Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga is set to end his loan spell at German club Augsburg and the 24-year-old will move to Championship side Millwall until the end of the season.
