Tom Lockyer collapsed six minutes into the play off final laying face down unconscious until swift medical action saw him stretchered off and thankfully conscious.

Awful news about Tom, I hope he makes a full recovery and gets the chance to play in the Premier League.

So he just collapsed? I didn’t see what happened and they showed no replay. They don’t show replays when this happens now, the reaction of the physio was to call for specialist help and the rest of the players being ushered away was clear evidence of this being serious. He was face down, arms to his sides a tell tale sign. They are clearly ready to deal with this nowadays.

Let’s hope that he makes a full recovery, a great player who has been an inspiration for the hatters this season.
What an incredible rise through the leagues, no mean feat in the current age and if my memory serves me right they came back in to the league at the same time as we dropped out ! I always remember a local radio / telly interview at the time with their then manager and when asked what to expect from the Conference he just replied enjoy it and embrace it, well that was hard at times ( Welling Away ) but I think I got what he was getting at.

Just hope and pray that what ever has caused this medical condition resulting in his collapse isn't career ending and he makes a full recovery and captains Luton in the Premier League next season.

Tom Lockyer: Luton Town's Jordan Clark says they 'had to win' after defender's collapse..ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/01F2/production/_129889400_gettyimages-1493815594.jpgLuton players held up Tom Lockyer's shirt during their trophy celebrationsLuton Town scorer Jordan Clark says boss Rob Edwards told them to win the Championship play-off final for Tom Lockyer after the defender collapsed early on in their Wembley triumph. The Hatters skipper, 28, was taken to hospital but the club later said he was "responsive and talking to family". The Wales international was later pictured celebrating their victory from his hospital bed. Clark told Sky Sports: "The gaffer said we had to do it for him." Dan Potts, who wore the captain's armband as he scored Luton's decisive sixth penalty, said: "I'm gutted for Locks as he deserved to be there holding that trophy. "Hopefully we'll be able to see him tonight. The gaffer always says health is the most important thing, and family." Shortly after the shootout win Edwards told BBC Three Counties Radio that he was "only thinking about Lockyer" and later told Sky Sports: "It felt a little bit wrong to celebrate, I just felt emotional. I feel for Locks whose been our best player this year." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/13C02/production/_129889808_bbf0645c66dba518b770a392b97fcc2f419ba62a.jpg

He had a lot of media attention over the last few days. What worries me , i do not want to get into conspiracy stuff, is that it seems more pro athletes are dropping to the deck and with no previous history of health problems. Horrible to watch something like this happen but great to see him ok, in hospital. They do not mention any injury.

It's all a bit odd as it couldn't have been an Erikson or Pablo Martinez type issue given he clearly recovered quite quickly.

Luton Town captain who collapsed on pitch gives update on condition after celebrating from hospital bed Luton Town captain Tom Lockyer watched his team's historic Premier League promotion from a hospital bed after collapsing on the pitch, but said he was "feeling very much myself" after the health scare. Sunday 28 May 2023 10:39, UK Luton Town captain Tom Lockyer celebrated the club's historic Championship play-off final win over Coventry from a hospital bed after collapsing on the pitch. His collapse was "a much scarier moment for everyone else than myself", he wrote. He said he was kept in hospital overnight as a precaution and would have further tests today. "I am feeling very much myself, helped by the way the lads left it all out on pitch!" he added. news.sky.com/story/luton-town-captain-tom-lockyer-okay-after-pitch-collapse-and-celebrated-premier-league-promotion-from-hospital-bed-12891469

Noting his coarse voice, he explained: "My voice went when I was made to sing on stage yesterday, that was a little bit embarrassing! I didn't really expect that, it is probably the most nervous I've been in my life in front of a few thousand people who turned up to see us. I "I was more nervous doing that then watching the penalties on Saturday! I sang Bon Jovi Always, that's all they had. It was a bit random and probably the hardest song ever to sing with no voice, not very wise!" And he gave an update on captain Tom Lockyear who collapsed during the play-off final: "He's okay, he is still in hospital at the moment. He is having lots of tests and checks, he is with the best people. We have all been in touch with him and speaking to him every day. As you can imagine the lads, the staff, doctors and physios. "When he was texting me last night he was expecting to come out today, not sure if that is definitely the case right now but that is what he was saying to me so we will see."

Tom Lockyer: Luton Town captain still in hospital after collapse in Championship play-off final..ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/4F38/production/_129908202_gettyimages-1258225519.jpgLuton Town captain Tom Lockyer remains in hospital after collapsing during the Championship play-off final at Wembley on Saturday, says manager Rob Edwards. Lockyer collapsed after just eight minutes of the game against Coventry and was taken straight to hospital. "He's OK, he is still in hospital at the moment. He is having lots of tests and checks and is with the best people," Edwards told BBC Radio 5 Live. Despite losing their captain, Luton went on to beat Coventry on penalties. "We have all been in touch with him and been speaking to him every day," added Edwards. "He was texting me and expecting to come home on Tuesday. I'm not sure that's definitely the case, but that is what he was saying so we'll see." Despite being in hospital, Lockyer was pictured on Instagram celebrating his side's return to the top flight for the first time since 1992.

Really hoping this has a satisfactory conclusion A bit worrying that there doesn't seem to be any update to confirm that he was able to go home on Tuesday. Fingers crossed that it is something which can be resolved, and get Tom back to full health. On the bright side, at least there is no doubt that things are being thoroughly investigated.

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards choked up live on Sky Sports after seeing a photo of Tom Lockyer celebrating the Hatters' Premier League promotion from his hospital bed. There were scenes of huge concern yesterday just minutes into the Championship play-off final at Wembley when Wales defender Lockyer went to ground with no-one around him. Medics quickly entered the field of play to attend the stricken centre-back, who was conscious when stretchered off the pitch and taken to hospital. Lockyer's parents left their seats at the stadium to be with their son, and it was his father who posted a heartwarming photo following the Bedfordshire club's penalty shootout win against Coventry City. And when Welshman Edwards was shown the picture while being interviewed by the Sky Sports panel post-match, he welled up and choked back tears speaking about his defender. "I can't speak highly enough of him," he said, taking a moment to compose himself in front of the cameras, with presenter David Prutton helping him through the interview. '"I'm just really pleased he's OK." He went on: “It feels incredible but the only thing I’m thinking of right now is Tom Lockyer. He’s been immense for us this season. Health and family is the most important thing and I don’t care right now until he is all right – I know he’s all right. "A few of the guys have spoken to him in hospital. He’s getting really well looked after. That’s where my head is at the moment. It felt a little bit wrong to celebrate at the time. I just felt emotional." “I am incredibly proud of my group of players. For Locks, who’s been our best player this season, to go off after four or five minutes, for the lads then to organise themselves, deal with seeing their captain coming off like that emotionally in this atmosphere on the biggest day they dealt with that so well. Our performance after that in the first half was incredible.” ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/527A/production/_128841112_gettyimages-1462706508.jpgDespite showing positive signs of progress, Lockyer has been omitted from Rob Page's latest Wales squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers with Armenia and Turkey this summer. "He is not going to be fit for the two games," Page said. "I can't speak from a medical point of view but of course you don't like to see any player go down injured, and because of how he went down, you do wonder what the reasons were. "But it would be silly of me to even suggest what those reasons were. He is in good hands at the minute and it's for Luton to make a statement with regards to what they are doing. "For us it's just about getting him fit and ready for our camp in September. "I have got to think long term and for me as soon as he is fit again, he will be back involved." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/15F7C/production/_129908998_2021-09-01finlandvcymru-challengematch-136.jpg
