Leeds United have appointed former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke as their manager on a four-year deal.

The 46-year-old German spent four years with the Canaries and twice led them to promotion to the Premier League.

Farke spent last season with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach but was sacked after they finished 10th.

Leeds were relegated from the Premier League in 2022-23 after a campaign that saw them sack two managers, with Sam Allardyce then unable to keep them up.

"I feel humble at this time, I know the responsibility to fulfil all the expectations and I want to repay the trust shown," Farke told the club website.

"The most important thing is to create a togetherness and unity within this club again and, from today onwards, I will work on it with my staff and players, and I trust our supporters will be there when we need them. I can't wait for the first game of the season."

Barnsley have appointed ex-Sheffield United defender Neill Collins as their new head coach on a two-year deal.

The 39-year-old Scot takes over at Oakwell after four years in charge of the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the USA.

Collins replaces Michael Duff, who left to take over at Championship side Swansea City in June.

Duff led the Tykes to fourth in League One last season, but they were beaten by South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off final.

Collins, who also had spells as a player with Dumbarton, Sunderland and Wolves, will manage USL Championship side Tampa for the final time on Saturday before coming to England.

The Rowdies are third in the Eastern Conference with 31 points from 17 games so far this year, and owner Stuart Sternberg said they would "say farewell with a mixture of pride and sadness".

"I am absolutely thrilled to be stepping back into the English Football League and even more so to be joining a club of this stature," Collins told the Barnsley website.

"I am fortunate to be working with a squad that just achieved a play-off final but understand there is a lot of work to be done if we want to replicate that success and go a step further.

"I can't wait to get started and work on getting this club back to where it belongs."

The feckless 3-2 Scottish Premiership defeat by Livingston on Saturday proved the final straw for the Englishman's rollercoaster 15-month reign.

It's still early days in the 2023-24 season, but with the Leith side rooted bottom of the table with zero points from three games, the Hibs board have decided enough is enough.

Twenty goals have been shipped in nine games. There's been a defeat to Andorran minnows Inter Club d'Escaldes, a 5-0 spanking from Aston Villa, and consecutive Premiership losses to St Mirren, Motherwell and Livingston.

"They're conceding goals for fun, there's no identity," Stewart added.

Fleetwood Town have sacked Scott Brown as manager.

The Celtic legend, 38, departs after 16 months in charge following a winless start to the season.

The Cod Army have picked up just one point from their first six League One games, having been beaten 2-1 at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

Brown's assistant head coach Steven Whittaker has also left the Lancashire club, who are second bottom of the table.

Fleetwood issued a statement to say that "Brown has left the club with immediate effect".

The statement added: "Following a difficult run of results the club reluctantly felt now is the right time to make a change to the first team management.

"Everyone at the club would like to place on record their thanks to Scott and Steven for their hard work and professionalism during their time at the club."

Fleetwood are yet to announce who will take interim charge for their next game, Tuesday's EFL Trophy home meeting with Tranmere Rovers, but they have a fortnight until their next league game, at home to Oxford United.

Next Saturday's scheduled home league derby with Blackpool was postponed because of international call-ups.

Brown took the Fleetwood vacancy in May 2022 as his first job in management following the former Celtic and Scotland captain's retirement as a player.

They finished 13th in his one full season in charge, fading out of play-off contention late in the season.

Brown spent 14 years with Celtic during one of the Scottish top-flight club's most successful periods, in which they just missed out on 10 league titles in a row but won four consecutive domestic trebles.

He also won a League Cup with his first club Hibernian - and spent eight months as player-coach of Aberdeen, following his exit from Parkhead. But he left after manager Stephen Glass was sacked in February 2022 - and then returned to football with Fleetwood three months later.

His Fleetwood exit was announced just a couple of hours before the first Rangers-Celtic derby of the season.

League Two side Tranmere Rovers have sacked manager Ian Dawes after a run of six successive defeats.

He was only appointed in May, after seven matches in caretaker charge.

Rovers technical director Nigel Adkins, a former Southampton, Charlton, Hull and Sheffield United boss, will lead the team on an interim basis.

"Ian Dawes got the team playing some attractive football but we haven't been able to convert that into points on the table," said club chairman Mark Palios.

"Injuries have no doubt played a significant part in that, but football is a results game and I felt we needed someone more experienced at the helm to steer us through this period with a depleted squad, as confidence will be key," he added.

In all, Dawes, 39, had three interim spells in charge of Tranmere, who finished 12th in the fourth tier last season but have just three points from seven games at the start of the current campaign.

Former Rovers player Adkins became technical director in May and had been acting as a mentor and advisor to Dawes.

His most recent managerial role, at Charlton, came to an end in October 2021.

Hansi Flick has been sacked as Germany manager following Saturday's 4-1 friendly defeat by Japan in Wolfsburg.

He becomes the first Germany boss to be sacked since the role was created in 1926.

Germany have lost four of their past five games, with Flick overseeing just 12 wins in his 25 matches since replacing Joachim Low in August 2021.

Rudi Voller, who managed the team from 2000 to 2004, takes temporary charge for Tuesday's friendly with France.

The 63-year-old Voller, a former Germany striker, was appointed director of the German national side in February.

He will be assisted by Hannes Wolf and Sandro Wagner.

Germany host the men's European Championship next year but have been in disarray.

German FA president Bernd Neuendorf said: "The committee agreed that the German national team needs a fresh impetus after the recent disappointing results.

"Going into the European Championship next summer, we need confidence and optimism in the country regarding our team.

"This has been one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make during my time in this role because I really respect Hansi Flick and his assistants, both on a professional and personal level.

"Sporting success is of the upmost importance to the DFB, which is why this decision had to be made."

Flick, 58, had been Low's assistant manager with Germany from 2006 to 2014.

His time in charge began with eight successive wins, but their form progressively got worse and Germany exited last year's World Cup at the group stage.

His assistants Marcus Sorg and Danny Rohl have also been dismissed.

Former Scotland and Everton striker Duncan Ferguson will be the new Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager.

The 51-year-old left Forest Green Rovers in July following just one win in 18 games in charge, after which they were relegated from League One.

Forest Green had been Ferguson's first foray into management on his own.

Ferguson's appointment will be announced at a Tuesday morning media conference as he takes over from the sacked Billy Dodds.

Caley Thistle sit bottom of the Scottish Championship, with one point from six games.

Having had two spells as a player with Everton, Ferguson returned to the Premier League club as a coach under fellow Scot David Moyes and went on to be caretaker boss twice as well as assistant manager.

He left Goodison Park in July last year before being appointed Forest Green head coach in January.

Caley Thistle director of football John Robertson was in caretaker charge for his side's first game without Dodds on Saturday, when they lost 1-0 to Dundee United.

It was the second week in a row when a late goal had handed Caley Thistle's opponents a victory that took them to the Championship summit, with Dodds' last game being a 1-0 defeat by Raith Rovers in Kirkcaldy.
