The 44-year-old took the Seasiders up to the second tier via the League One play-offs in 2021 before leaving the club in June 2022 to join Steven Gerrard's staff at Aston Villa. He then had a 12-game stint in charge at QPR this season, winning just once, and was sacked in February. "It feels special to be back," Critchley told the club website. "Looking back on my departure 12 months ago, I didn't handle that in the manner I should have done. I enjoyed a fantastic relationship with Simon [Sadler - owner] previously, and I thank him for this wonderful opportunity to come back to this special football club. "I look at the club now, and it has had a bump in the road but there is no reason why we can't get back on track. It's up to us - and I include myself in that - to reset and become who we were as a group again." Stephen Dobbie will move back to his role as senior professional development phase coach, after his interim stint as first-team boss following the departure of Mick McCarthy in April. Dobbie was unable to save Blackpool from the drop as they finished 23rd in the Championship. Critchley's impact in his first spell was quickly felt at Bloomfield Road, despite it being his first managerial role having predominantly worked as a development coach at Liverpool. He took over from Simon Grayson in March 2020 and having steered the Tangerines to a mid-table finish in League One, rebuilt the squad and won promotion the following season. Jerry Yates scored 20 goals on his arrival from Rotherham, while Keshi Anderson and Marvin Ekpiteta both became first-team regulars, as a third-place finish and victory in the play-off final against Lincoln took Blackpool back to the Championship. The signing of Everton winger Josh Bowler was another example of shrewd recruitment, as he played a key role in retaining their Championship status, before joining Premier League Nottingham Forest for a fee of about £4m last summer. "After an extensive recruitment process, which included many interviews with various candidates over the past few weeks, I kept coming back to Neil as being the right man to take us forward," owner Simon Sadler said. "He gained promotion with us, kept us in the Championship in our first season back in the division and has an impressive record when it comes to developing players. "He was the clear front-runner for the position and I hope everyone gets behind him and the squad as we push to get back into the Championship. "I'd also like to thank Stephen Dobbie for stepping up for the final six matches of the season. He did a wonderful job in what were challenging circumstances, and I am confident he will have a successful career in first-team management in the years to come."

We are all looking forward to having him on board," the club said. Chelsea say Pochettino was first choice and the only manager who was brought into the club for talks. He will work with sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Lawrence Stewart. "Mauricio's experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character will serve Chelsea Football Club well as we move forward," Winstanley and Stewart said in a statement. "He is a winning coach, who has worked at the highest levels, in multiple leagues and languages. His ethos, tactical approach and commitment to development all made him the exceptional candidate."

So " big Sam" walks out on Leeds united... Lost cause basically, only for the money comes to mind...and " relegation not my fault" maybe not but the money was good for the bank!! Sam Allardyce has left Leeds United after the club confirmed he would not be continuing beyond the end of his temporary contract. The former Bolton and West Ham manager was brought in as replacement for Javi Gracia with four game remaining of the Premier League season. But the 68-year-old was unable to lead them to safety after picking up one point from a possible 12. "Leeds United and Sam Allardyce can confirm that both parties have mutually agreed for Sam's spell at the club to end following the completion of the 2022/23 season," read the club statement. |

Cotterill missed the second half of the 2020-21 campaign after spending 33 days in hospital with Covid-19. "I am confident this team will continue its progression next season," he said in a statement. Shrewsbury was Cotterill's ninth managerial job, with Stoke City, Burnley, Birmingham City ,Nottingham Forest and Bristol City among his former clubs. BBC Radio Shropshire reported last week that Cotterill was set to leave the club after choosing to depart and his exit was confirmed in a brief statement on Tuesday. "Steve Cotterill has left his post as first-team manager," it said.. "The club would like to place on record their thanks to Steve for all his hard work and commitment during the last two and a half years, taking us from a relegation place in League One to 12th in the table and also for working from his hospital bed during the Covid-19 pandemic." In his statement, released through the League Managers' Association, Cotterill said he was proud of the work that had been done during his time at the club. "Working through Covid was tough and I have to thank my incredible staff for their help throughout," he added. "I would also like to thank the players. It is a fantastic group that gave me absolutely everything, right up to the last game of the season. The relationship I had with them was very special. "When I joined Shrewsbury Town, I wanted to create a connection between the supporters and the team. Thankfully, after a lot of hard work and your help we achieved that." Chairman Roland Wycherley said: "From time to time, circumstances arise when difficult and unpopular decisions have to be made to safeguard the very future of our club. "We currently find ourselves in such a position and we would be failing in our duty if we shirk those decisions." He added: "Going forward, be assured that management structures and new football strategies are already in place - the rationale for the actions we have taken will become evident in the coming weeks and months." Cotterill's departure comes a month after chief executive Brian Caldwell left. "The club has lost a good guy. I will miss him without a shadow of a doubt," Cotterill told BBC Radio Shropshire at the time. "When I came here two and a half years ago, the chairman said he wanted me and Brian to work closely together - and we did just that. He was very supportive, especially when I had Covid."

O'Neil averaged more than a point a game with one of the worst squads ever to play in the Premier League. He did wonders there and was up there with one of best managers of last season given the squad he had. The 45-year-old has signed a three-year contract with Swansea, who have had to pay compensation to the Tykes for his services. "Michael has a proven track record of galvanising a group of players into a collective unit, and he has consistently outperformed expectations at his previous clubs," said Swansea chairman Andy Coleman. "Every conversation I had with him only reinforced the view that he is exactly the type of leader we need here at Swansea City. "He is a proven winner, both as a player and as a manager, and I'm confident he will bring that mentality here. "I believe in his ability and his belief in the Swansea way, while he also possesses the capability to adapt within games to drive results. "This is a results-driven business. The 40-year-old Spaniard will take over subject to him obtaining a visa, which the club applied for last week. Selles took charge of Southampton following Nathan Jones' departure in February but only won two of his 17 matches at the helm as Saints finished bottom of the Premier League. He succeeds Paul Ince, who was sacked by Reading in April. Selles takes over a Reading side that were relegated to League One last season after having six points docked for breaching the terms of a business plan for a previous profit and sustainability rule infringement.

FGR Sacked Big Duncan Ferguson on Tuesday and have appointed as first team coach Hannah Dingley, the first female to " be in control" of an EFL club,good on her , been at the club since 2019 .. interesting to see how she goes,as a lot of eyes will be watching ( not necessarily from the terraces though 😊)

I am grateful for the opportunity to step up and lead such a progressive and forward-thinking club." She first joined the club in 2019 to take charge of the academy and remains the only woman to manage a men's English Football League academy. They were subsequently relegated to the fourth tier in April, with Ferguson overseeing one win in 18 matches. The 51-year-old had signed a five-year contract with the Gloucestershire side and had talked about his and the club's long-term plans after their relegation. "It's been a privilege to work with Dunc these last few months and this was a very difficult decision to make," said Forest Green owner Dale Vince. "I'm grateful to Dunc for joining us in such difficult circumstances and for all of his hard work at the club. "But I feel this is overall the right decision for everyone and I wish Dunc well in his next coaching role. We are parting as friends. You can't ask for much more than that." Ferguson scored 73 goals for Everton as a player in two spells between 1994 and 2006 and was also capped seven times by Scotland. He joined the Toffees coaching staff in 2014 and twice acted as caretaker manager before leaving the club last summer to pursue his first managerial position.
