The 22-year-old has made 13 appearances in all competitions this season. His two goals against against Walsall and Swindon Town in League Two took him to six in 26 games in his Wrexham career. "I've really enjoyed the past few months, I've played more and I've scored and I'm looking forward to the future," Bickerstaff said. "I'm buzzing to be honest. I've been at the club for so long now and I'm happy to commit my future to Wrexham."

Wrexham: Top goalscorers Paul Mullin and Elliot Lee sign new long-term deals..

Lee, 29, is the League Two club's leading scorer this term with 13 goals from 29 games. Last season's top scorer Mullin, also 29, has scored 89 goals since first signing for Wrexham in 2021. "I'm unbelievably happy and grateful to extend my stay at Wrexham," said Mullin. "Since signing for the club, I've loved every single second. It's not just become my club, but my whole family also. "The chance to perform in front of the support we receive is something you long for as a child. "Here's to creating more memories to last a lifetime." Former Cambridge United forward Mullin scored 38 National League goals for Wrexham last season to help the club gain promotion back to the EFL for the first time in 15 years. He also won the FA Cup Golden Ball award with an unmatched nine goals in the competition. However, the Merseyside-born striker missed the start of this campaign after suffering a punctured lung during a pre-season game against Manchester United in the United States. Mullin has scored 10 goals this season. Former West Ham and Barnsley midfielder Lee joined Wrexham from Luton Town in 2022. He has provided 28 goals from 81 appearances in all competitions. "When I signed 18 months ago, there were high expectations but not I even saw just how well it was going to go," said Lee. "I'm delighted to be extending my stay with Wrexham. It's a special feeling playing for the club. "Growing up, it was Newcastle and West Ham I had an affinity to and wanted to play for, but I feel I have that now with Wrexham. "To represent the team, the badge and the people of Wrexham is a special feeling - I love playing playing for the club."

MONDAY 1st JANUARY 2024 - LEAGUE TWO
Wrexham 4 (Fletcher 45+9, 45+13, 67, Mullin 45+11) Barrow 1 (Spence 1)
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/C11E/production/_132183494_shutterstock_editorial_14279558al.jpg Steven Fletcher's back-post header from a corner gave Wrexham a 3-1 lead over Barrow at half-timeSteven Fletcher's hat-trick saw Wrexham beat Barrow in a thrilling third versus fourth clash at the Stok Racecourse. Barrow stunned the hosts by scoring in the first minute when Kian Spence turned home Elliot Newby's low cross. Just before half-time, Fletcher played a one-two with Paul Mullin to level, before Mullin's free-kick and a Fletcher header made it 3-1 to Wrexham. Fletcher sealed the result with his first Wrexham hat-trick, nodding in Anthony Forde's cross. Dean Campbell did cannon a shot off the Wrexham post in the closing moments, but it would only have been a small consolation for the visitors. Barrow had lost David Worrall with a quarter of the match played, the midfielder being taken off on a stretcher after a nasty clash of heads, with Luca Stephenson replacing him. That saw a mammoth 14 minutes of time added on to the end of the first half, during which Wrexham cut loose with those three goals in a five-minute spell. Barrow remain fourth, but are now four points behind third-placed Wrexham, who themselves are two points behind League Two leaders Stockport County after they lost 2-0 at home to second placed Mansfield Town. Wrexham assistant manager Steve Parkin said:"It wasn't a great start obviously, playing against a team who are certainly near the top of the league on merit. "So we were delighted to get in at half-time in front; we needed a goal to give us a spark... and towards the ned of the first half when we got the goals I always felt were were going to come on strong. "It's great for him (Steven Fletcher), he's had a long and illustrious career, been a top player and got off to a great start here and then sadly had that knee injury that held him back for three or four weeks... and today he showed what a good player he is."

Ryan Reynolds phone call convinced Steven Fletcher to sign for Wrexham..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/711E/production/_132185982_gettyimages-492300110.jpg Steven Fletcher played 39 times for Scotland, scoring 10 goalsWrexham's hat-trick hero Steven Fletcher has revealed how an unknown phone number from Los Angeles persuaded him to sign for the League Two club. Fletcher already had one foot in the door at the Racecourse, but his chat with Hollywood co-owner Ryan Reynolds tipped the scales. "Obviously when Ryan called me it did help, I'm not going to lie," said the 36-year-old former Scotland forward. "It's Ryan Reynolds, how could you say no?" He added: "I had the conversation, it was quite short to be honest with you. It was just 'we'd love to have you here and be a part of the club'. "I had already made up my mind to be honest, but it did give me a little confidence boost to say 'yeah, go on then'." Fletcher signed for Wrexham on a free transfer at the start of the season, but admits retirement did cross his mind following relegation with Dundee United. "I needed something to give me a bit of a buzz because I'm not going to lie, after last season, it was a tough season," Fletcher told BBC Radio 5 Live. "It put a bit of a downer on things and I was thinking do I want to go back? I moved my family back to Scotland and it was one of those things where I was thinking do I hang up now and spend a bit of family time? "When this call came, I think wife could see a little buzz in me and she said 'I can see you want to go and do this'. I thought, you know what, 'I'm going to go for it'. "I literally had the phone call, four hours later and I was down there." Fletcher's season with Wrexham has been less than smooth sailing, but he appears back to form after having knee surgery two months ago. He netted a hat-trick in Wrexham's 4-1 New Year's Day win over Barrow which sees the club start 2024 third in League Two, just two points off leaders Stockport County. "It's crazy how the club has come from where it's come," Fletcher added. "Obviously the owners are a big part of that, but the players and the staff, they've all been great, the fans as well. "It's a bit surreal to be honest with you the way it is every day, seeing Rob and Ryan just walking around. It's been great and obviously at my age as well, it's a great thing to be a part of."

Wrexham: Jacob Mendy to miss FA Cup tie after joining Gambia squad..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/8A8C/production/_132186453_gettyimages-1750329869.jpg Jacob Mendy made his Gambia debut in a World Cup qualifier against Ivory Coast in November 2023Wrexham's Jacob Mendy has joined the Gambia squad for their pre-Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) training camp in Saudi Arabia. The full-back has been a key figure under Phil Parkinson this term, featuring 23 times in all competitions. But he will miss his side's FA Cup third round clash with Shrewsbury Town on 7th January. Gambia take on Atlas Lions in Morocco on the same day Wrexham face Shrewsbury. The Scorpions - who face Senegal, Guinea and Cameroon at AFCON - name their final squad for the tournament in Ivory Coast on 9th January.

Wrexham - What has Phil Parkinson said ?"I don't want to make any predictions for January in terms of incoming players," Parkinson said prior to Christmas. "We've got a strong squad but we're always looking. As our supporters know, we're always striving to improve and we're assessing a lot of situations at the moment but we are keeping our cards close to our chest." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/155FD/production/_132194578_gettyimages-1752716980.jpgPhil Parkinson's Wrexham side have scored in 50 successive home league matchesWrexham already possess a squad that is the envy of most League Two clubs, and even some from League One, but Parkinson is always striving for improvement. Steven Fletcher's return to action following knee surgery has eased the burden on Paul Mullin, although following a failed pursuit of Luke Armstrong in the summer, Parkinson is continuing to assess his forward options. The spine of the squad is also being monitored, with centre-back and central midfield being areas the club could add to in January. Given the versatility of stars including James McClean, they appear unlikely to seek cover for Jacob Mendy if he is included in Gambia's squad for the Africa Cup of Nations. HThe versatile full-back has already linked up with The Scorpions for their pre-tournament training camp in Saudi Arabia. In terms of outgoings, Billy Waters, Callum McFadzean and Bryce Hosannah could all be in the shop window having been omitted from Wrexham's 22-man squad following the summer transfer window, although they could be drafted back in when the winter market concludes.

SUNDAY 7th JANUARY 2024 - THE FA CUP - THIRD ROUND
Shrewsbury Town 0 Wrexham 1 (O'Connor 72)
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/10D4E/production/_132224986_gettyimages-1907526482.jpg Tom O'Connor's goal was his first for Wrexham in almost a year since last season's 3-3 FA Cup fourth-round with Sheffield United
Report By Ged Scott..BBC Sport at The Croud MeadowWrexham rode their luck as they edged to victory over Shrewsbury Town in the Anglo-Welsh border derby to reach the FA Cup fourth round for the second time in successive seasons. Tom O'Connor's wickedly deflected 72nd-minute strike was enough for the big-spending League Two side to knock out Matt Taylor's mid-table League One outfit. But, in the first derby between the two clubs in almost 16 years, in front of a raucous sell-out crowd, Shrewsbury had only themselves to blame for not taking their chances. They forced several saves out of Arthur Okonkwo, as well as hitting the crossbar through left-back Mal Benning and missing two golden openings. In front of their first sell-out crowd since the fourth-round tie with Liverpool in 2020, Shrewsbury had a string of first-half chances. Taylor Perry had a low shot saved, skipper Chey Dunkley saw his effort deflected wide and Jordan Shipley tested Okonkwo from close range. But the best of them came on 26 minutes when Shipley's left-wing cross found Tunmise Sobowale two yards out but, although Okonkwo was on him, he somehow ballooned over from close range. Wrexham, although at times looking a threat, had just one direct effort on target when Andrew Cannon's shot was blocked. Shrewsbury again looked the likelier side to score at the start of the second half as Perry fired over and a Dunkley header was scrambled clear. Wrexham striker Paul Mullin eventually got in down the left to force Town keeper Marko Marosi into his only save from a narrow angle. Shrewsbury then came close to going in front when Benning robbed Max Cleworth on the left, surged forward, held off two challenges and clipped a delightful curling shot with the outside of his left foot that came back off the bar. But, he then became one of five late substitutions made by Taylor. And, within five minutes, Wrexham were ahead with a slice of luck. Midfielder O'Connor collected George Evans' pass to take a poke at goal from 15 yards out, which took a big deflection off Town skipper Dunkley to fly past Marosi. Even then, with Wrexham now the dominant team, Town rallied and had two chances to level in injury time, but Perry was wide of the left upright with both efforts, the first of them when he too really should have scored. Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson:
"This was a day for our supporters and not just the ones that were here but the ones back at home. "It's a local derby, and 16 years ago, Shrewsbury beat us to all but condemn the club to the National League. "When you have had that pain of being a Wrexham fan during that period, it's great that we gave our supporters a day to celebrate. "Shrewsbury are an established League One team, and it was interesting to see us go toe-to-toe with a team that were right up it. And, as the game wore on, we looked better and better and rode our luck." Match Highlights Belowwww.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/67873553

Wrexham's Elliot Lee hits back at Shrewsbury's Tom Flanagan after FA Cup win..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/16B7C/production/_132225039_gettyimages-1907200773.jpg Elliot Lee (right) was a part of Wrexham's National League title-winning side last seasonWrexham's Elliot Lee took aim at Shrewsbury Town's Tom Flanagan after the League Two side's FA Cup third-round win over their League One rivals. League Two promotion chasers Wrexham won 1-0 at the Croud Meadow on Sunday. That followed pre-match comments by Shrews defender Flanagan, who had said Wrexham were "semi-professional players last season" as they won promotion from the National League. "We knew as a team the importance of the game," Lee told S4C's Sgorio. "They're a big physical team and, being a local rivalry, it was always going to be a great game and I thought the boys were outstanding. "It was a great performance and I'd like to dedicate that to one of their players, Tom Flanagan, who said that we were full of semi-pro players last year. "So that one's for you, mate!" The comments by Flanagan, who is currently a long-term injury absentee, contributed to a fiery atmosphere as tempers flared on the pitch and fans taunted each other in the stands. Wrexham secured victory thanks to Tom O'Connor's deflected strike in the second half. Phil Parkinson's side can now look forward to playing in the fourth round of the FA Cup for the second successive season. "It's so important to us and the gaffer drives that into us every day, how important the cup is and the history the club has in it," said Lee. "We want to go out there and do the best we can for the fans. The following out there today [Sunday] was incredible. "For them to come here and have the bragging rights it means a lot, so we are delighted to be in the next round and in the draw. "We're hoping for a great draw and another great result."

‘Some players will be leaving’ – Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney set to trim Wrexham squad as Phil Parkinson talks January exits..by Soham Mukherjee.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/5E40/production/_132282142_gettyimages-1910719432.jpgDespite Wrexham's impressive journey from clinching the National League title in 2022-23 to currently standing third in League Two, Parkinson is in search of more perfection and is ready to offload deadwood in the ongoing winter transfer window. He is also cautious about adhering to EFL rules on squad size which forbids teams to have more than 22 players on the roster, barring goalkeepers and U-21 footballers. Speaking to reporters, Phil Parkinson said: "There has been some interest in players who have been out of the picture so we are looking at a few of those situations. There are players who have been on the periphery a little bit who are attracting a bit of interest and we are in discussions with one or two clubs. I imagine that some players will be leaving the club, the 22-man squad rule dictates that." Parkinson faces challenges in reshaping the squad, considering players like Bryce Hosannah, Callum McFadzean, and Billy Waters were not part of the list submitted in September. However, they have become eligible which could force the team management to let go of a few names to make room for the additions. However, Parkinson remained discreet about potential new signings and added: "We are just reviewing where we are with our injured players and seeing when they are coming back but obviously we are looking at options." Wrexham find themselves in an incredible run of form in League Two having won four of their last five matches. After brushing aside Barrow with a convincing 4-1 margin and then overcoming Shrewsbury in the FA Cup they return to league football against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday at the Stok Cae Ras.

SATURDAY 13th JANUARY 2024 - LEAGUE TWO
Wrexham 2 (Fletcher 61, Mullin 69) AFC Wimbledon 0ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/469F/production/_132297081_shutterstock_editorial_14298663av.jpgSteven Fletcher and Paul Mullin struck as Wrexham boosted their hopes of automatic promotion with a win over play-off hopefuls AFC Wimbledon. The visitors had the better of the opening period, but Fletcher broke the deadlock midway through the second half with a superb volley at the far post from James McClean's corner. McClean also sent in the cross that gave Mullin the chance to hammer home. Wrexham rose a place to second while Wimbledon dropped three to 10th. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson:"I thought we lacked urgency in the first half. It was almost a feeling of this will just take care of itself, but everybody knows in football you have got to make it happen as a team. "We didn't quite get our press right and we have to work on that, but we worked hard enough to make sure it was 0-0 at half-time. "Then second half I thought we responded really well. Sometimes when you are not at your fluent best, a set-play changes the flow of the game. "It was a hard game, we knew it would be. We had to work hard today. We said it half-time we needed to up our game in certain areas and when we did that, it looked like we were the team who could go on and win the game."

SATURDAY 20th JANUARY 2024 - LEAGUE TWO
Newport County 1 (Palmer-Houlden 34) Wrexham 0 (Boyle 18 sent off)
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/D104/production/_132380535_cdf_200124_ge_newport_county_v_wrexham_024.jpg Seb Palmer-Houlden missed more than two months of the season after suffering a hamstring injury in AugustTen-man Wrexham missed the chance to go top of League Two as they were beaten by Newport County in a feisty encounter between the Welsh rivals. Wrexham had Will Boyle sent off after 18 minutes for a lunging challenge on Shane McLoughlin, before Seb Palmer-Houlden headed County in front to raise the roof at an already rocking, sold-out Rodney Parade. The home side had plenty of chances to extend their lead but a combination of wayward finishing and fine goalkeeping by Arthur Okonkwo kept Wrexham in the game. Newport were not to be denied, though, and their deserved victory lifts them up to 13th in the table before the mouthwatering visit of Manchester United in the FA Cup next weekend. Wrexham stay second and two points behind leaders Stockport County, whose game at fellow promotion contenders Notts County was postponed because of a frozen pitch. There might be 125 miles and a three-hour drive separating Newport and Wrexham - but there is a distinct rivalry between the two Welsh clubs in League Two. Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson:"When you go down to 10 men on 18 minutes, and second half the conditions were against us as well, it's difficult. "We couldn't get any quality or rhythm in our play. We've given ourselves an absolute mountain to climb getting a player sent off so early in the game. "The goal we conceded is frustrating. If we get to half time 0-0 then we're right in it. It's a tough afternoon for us."

Get Involved - Simon Stone Q&A
Anon on WhatsApp: Wrexham AFC has become quite the spectacle since their celebrity takeover. Do you think they have enough in their squad to achieve a back-to-back promotion? Simon: Well, they are 10 points clear of Gillingham, who are just outside the play-off places, so I think they are safe from that perspective. Clearly though, Wrexham’s owners will be looking at going straight up. There are some ambitious clubs in League Two, Stockport and Notts County for a start but also MK Dons, Mansfield and Crewe are having an excellent season. This should also include Salford but they have had a shocker. I notice Wrexham have still to play Notts County and Mansfield at home – and finish with Stockport at the Racecourse on the final day. Providing they come through that lot unscathed, I think they will be fine. Then it gets interesting – and even more expensive. Wrexham are a big club. But QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby, Bolton and Charlton are even bigger. All could be rivals in League One next season. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/1/22/510964ce-d393-4993-9caf-7d8ca427c047.jpg

FA Cup: Wrexham aiming to shock Blackburn Rovers for fans 'all over the world'..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/A580/production/_132486324_gettyimages-1910719338.jpg Elliot Lee takes a selfie with his player-of-the-match award in Wrexham's round three win at Shrewsbury
Midfielder Elliot Lee says League Two Wrexham aim to deliver an FA Cup shock for their followers "all over the world" in Monday's fourth-round tie at Blackburn Rovers. Wrexham will be backed by 7,000 travelling supporters at Ewood Park as they face Rovers for the right to host Newcastle United in the fifth round. Wrexham have gained a band of new fans since being taken over by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. "It's incredible," said Lee. "It's what makes Wrexham amazing to be part of, the support we get not only here but all over the world. We have all heard about the support we are taking on Monday night. "Honestly as a player, it makes such a difference knowing you have that support behind you. "All we want to do is work hard for the badge and repay that support." Away tickets for the Blackburn tie have sold out, with Wrexham's fans hoping for another cup triumph at a Championship ground after last season's thrilling victory at Coventry City in round three. Phil Parkinson's side were in the National League at the time, but went on to draw with Premier League-bound Sheffield United in the fourth round before bowing out in a replay at Bramall Lane. "It's all about trying to put on a great show, like we did at Coventry last year, and hopefully that can give us another good result," added Lee, Wrexham's 13-goal leading scorer. "We have never seen a cup run as a distraction. If anything it makes us better, it gives us confidence playing these higher-league teams. "Last year, we were a National League side and took Sheffield United, top of the Championship, all the way. "I just think there's nothing like the FA Cup."

Arthur Okonkwo: Arsenal goalkeeper aims for promotion in Wrexham loan spell..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/12DC4/production/_132425277_shutterstock_editorial_14279558hm.jpg Arthur Okonkwo wore a protective face mask in games after fracturing his jaw in November, 2023Arthur Okonkwo says it is "a good feeling" to know he is staying with Wrexham until the end of the season. The 22-year-old goalkeeper is on a season-long loan from Premier League side Arsenal. The deadline for him to be recalled was on 21 January and Okonkwo hopes to help Wrexham gain promotion from League Two. "It's been great. I joined the team with a plan with the gaffer - at the beginning I was just waiting for my opportunity," said Okonkwo. "Now it's good to be playing and being involved with the team and helping as much as I can." Okonkwo has played 20 games in all competitions this season and says that Arsenal have kept a close eye on his progress. "I had no doubts I would be here until the end of the season," said Okonkwo. "Our assistant coach at Arsenal looks after the loan goalkeepers and he has been in constant communication. "I am here to stay and it's a good feeling." Okonkwo had loan spells in 2022-23 with Crewe Alexandra and Sturm Gratz in Austria and is grateful at the chance to play on a regular basis for the Dragons. "It's crucial, you look at a lot of young goalkeepers it's so important to get minutes, luckily I've been able to do that here, and I'm happy with that," he said. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/184AE/production/_132420599_gettyimages-1752716834-1.jpg

MONDAY 29th JANUARY 2024 - THE FA CUP - FOURTH ROUND
Blackburn Rovers 4 (Szmodics 32, 45+1, Gallacher 34, Tronstad 59) Wrexham 1 (Cannon 19)
Report By Dafydd Pritchard, BBC Sport Wales.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2023/04/22/20/70128719-0-image-a-1_1682192853592.jpgBlackburn Rovers recovered from an early scare at home against League Two Wrexham to comfortably win their FA Cup encounter and set up a fifth-round tie with Newcastle United. Roared on by 7,000 travelling fans in a packed away end, Wrexham survived an early barrage of Blackburn pressure before Andy Cannon hammered them in front against the run of play with a thumping drive from the edge of the penalty area. The Championship's leading scorer Sammie Szmodics levelled for Rovers following a pull-back from Sam Gallagher, who put the hosts ahead less than two minutes later as he capitalised on a rush of blood to the head from Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo. Szmodics slotted in his second to extend Blackburn's lead in first-half added time and Sondre Tronstad added a fourth after the break with a deflected strike. Jon Dahl Tomasson's side will welcome his former club Newcastle to Ewood Park next month for a place in the quarter-finals, while Wrexham's exit ends Welsh interest in this season's FA Cup. Two divisions separate these teams but, with Blackburn 18th in the Championship and Wrexham chasing promotion from League Two, the visitors were hoping to defy the odds like they did as a National League side last season at another Championship club, Coventry City. Wrexham command more attention than your average fourth-tier side, thanks to their Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Disney documentary series and the rest. The fact that their 7,000 fans made this game feel like a home tie only added to the Welsh club's main character energy. Blackburn were eager not to become a plotline in future 'Welcome to Wrexham' episodes and quickly took control of the game, outwitting their opponents with slick passing and sharp movement to create several chances. The first came in the third minute as Szmodics fired wide from Gallagher's cut-back and, just seconds later, Szmodics was denied by covering Wrexham captain Ben Tozer after goalkeeper Okonkwo had wandered out of his goal. The visitors were struggling to keep possession but, on one rare occasion when they pinched the ball in Blackburn's half, the Dragons made the most of it as Cannon fired them ahead from 20 yards. Cannon almost scored his second from a similar distance but was thwarted by Blackburn keeper Aynsley Pears, who reacted superbly to tip James McClean's rebound over the bar. The hosts were soon back on top and deservedly equalised courtesy of Szmodics' deflected close-range effort following a pass from Gallagher, who was then gifted a goal. There did not seem to be a great deal of danger when Gallagher flicked the ball beyond Max Cleworth and chased after it but, when Okonkwo rushed out only to then stop short of the Rovers striker, Gallagher rolled his finish into a near-empty net. Wrexham's defending was lacking again when Blackburn scored their third, Tronstad's simple lofted pass over the top of the visitors' defence finding Szmodics, who finished calmly beyond Okonkwo. That goal was a deflating blow for Wrexham on the stroke of half-time, and their slim hopes of getting back into the game disappeared after an hour when Tronstad's shot hit Elliot Lee and flew past Okonkwo. The remaining half an hour was a procession for Rovers, who will hope to improve their patchy Championship form between now and Newcastle's visit in the fifth round. Wrexham, meanwhile, know that their season will not be judged by games like these. Instead, their priority will be taking the next step on their well-documented journey and winning promotion from League Two. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson told BBC Match of the Day: i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/01/28/22/80568503-0-image-a-9_1706481829513.jpg
"It was a tough night for us, we were up against a good side. "They have two strikers who are right at the top of the game. Szmodics is the top scorer in the Championship and he showed it tonight. "It's a great lesson for us against better quality opponents. You've got to be switched on all the time or you get punished, and they punished us tonight. "Tonight wasn't the night for us but we'll concentrate on the second part of the season in the league."

The dragon went out with a bit of a damp squib with their fiery breath dampened to a puff of smoke ,,,, again hype beyond it's wildest dreams for this team .... got taught a hard lesson by a Blackburn team that is not having that much of a season, a bit of a rude awakening!!

Wrexham: Cup run may be over but Hollywood dreams live on..By Chris Wathan, BBC Sport Wales.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/C3B3/production/_132499005_gettyimages-1252137771.jpg Movie stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney completed a takeover of Wrexham in February 2021When Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney first took charge at Wrexham, their mission statement made no reference of success in the FA Cup. The aim was always about growing the team, the club, the stadium and the feel-good factor around the community - with promotions along the way. And so Blackburn's comfortable fourth round victory should not be seen as any unfortunate plot twist to scupper Wrexham's story. Szmodics double as Blackburn recover to beat Wrexham How Hollywood Wrexham ripped up FA Cup script However, as their team exited at the same stage to Championship opposition for a second successive season, it is the FA Cup that shines a light on both the romanticism and the reality of what the Hollywood ownership want to achieve at the Racecourse. Wrexham's long history is one intertwined with cup success: three times quarter-finalists as a third tier side, their iconic 1992 success against Arsenal, and so many more. It is the beauty of the cup and its predictable unpredictability that would make it so alluring to those only now becoming charmed by the game via Wrexham's primetime US profile. "Cup competitions aren't really a thing in the States," said Humphrey Ker, Wrexham's English executive director who splits his time between north Wales and north America. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/15FF3/production/_132499009_gettyimages-1963638786.jpgAndy Cannon put Wrexham ahead after 19 minutes before Blackburn went on to win the FA Cup fourth round tie 4-1"One of the things I've found talking to people over here is you don't often have those concurrent competitions across a season - they would stop to play a cup competition and pick the season back up - so initially it was about wrapping their heads about that," he told BBC Radio Wales Sport in the build-up to Monday night's fourth round tie. "But anyone associated with Wrexham quickly gets to hear about Mickey Thomas and Steve Watkin and 1992, and great results in the past against Newcastle and West Ham. "For a lot of lower league clubs those are some of the greatest days in their history, so very quickly Rob and Ryan, myself and anyone else coming into the club have been swept up in that excitement as well." McElhenney's unprompted tweets of congratulations to sixth-tier Maidstone after their win at Ipswich back up the claim. It is simply not something that happens in US sports - and yet what movie audience would not cheer for the underdog winning? It is the same against-the-odds narrative, with their owners' celebrity attachment, that has worked so far in making Wrexham such a name Stateside. That is the romantic part, with Ker admitting that the documentary simply "shines a light on what we already love" about such things as the magic of the cup.

Transfer news: Wrexham sign Salford defender Luke Bolton and Fleetwood striker Jack Marriott..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/2BD5/production/_132512211_gettyimages-1948401649.jpg Luke Bolton has represented England at under-20 level and was part of the Three Lions squad that won the Toulon Tournament in 2017Wrexham have completed the signing of Salford City defender Luke Bolton and centre-forward Jack Marriott from Fleetwood Town, both for undisclosed fees. Marriott, 29, has signed until 2025, while Bolton has agreed a deal running until 2026. Manchester City academy product Bolton, 24, has been used as a right-sided full-back and also a winger throughout his career. "I'm buzzing to be here," said Bolton. "How the club has kicked on in League Two to be second in the table is something I want to be a part of. "Hopefully we can push on and go for the title because it's not out of the picture, that's for sure, and I'm glad to be part of it." Bolton gained his first experience of senior football on loan at Wycombe Wanderers and played alongside Wrexham's Elliot Lee in a 24-game spell at Luton Town. He scored his first professional goal while on loan at Dundee United. He joined Salford in the summer of 2021 and made 20 League Two appearances this season, producing five assists. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson described Bolton as a good addition to the squad, adding: "He's going to be a player that adds real pace and dynamism to the team." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/7B0E/production/_132520513_gettyimages-1488128227.jpgJack Marriott won the the League One golden boot award whilst at Peterborough UnitedMarriott began his career at Ipswich Town before a move to Luton, where he was the club's top scorer in his first season. Moving to Peterborough, he scored 27 goals in League One during the 2017-18 season, before reaching the 2019 Championship play-off final with Derby County. He returned to Peterborough in 2021 and then joined Fleetwood in January 2023, where he has scored five goals in 24 League One games this season. "I'm really pleased to be here and happy to get the deal over the line," said Marriott. "The club's performances, the way they play as a team, is a real key factor for me signing and the trajectory that the club is going in is something that I want to be involved in." Parkinson believes Marriott will enhance his squad as the north Wales club seek back-to-back promotions. "He's got proven experience at a higher level and comes to us looking to make a real contribution in our second half of the season," said the Wrexham boss.

TUESDAY 13th FEBRUARY 2024 - LEAGUE TWO
Sutton United 1 Wrexham 2 (Boyle 45+3, Lee 85)
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/976/cpsprodpb/16F0B/production/_132636939_gettyimages-2008634717.jpg Elliot Lee's goal against Sutton was his 14 in League Two this seasonWrexham secured their first win in a month as they beat struggling Sutton 2-1 at VBS Community Stadium. After four straight defeats the Welsh side were in desperate need of a win, and Will Boyle gave them the lead in first-half stoppage time. Sutton improved after the break and deservedly levelled through Charlie Lakin with 74 minutes on the clock. But Wrexham's top goalscorer Elliot Lee came to the rescue, squeezing the ball into the near post to seal victory. Defeat for Sutton - coupled with a win for Forest Green Rovers - sends the hosts bottom of League Two, while Wrexham rise to fourth.
