Wrexham 2 Boreham Wood 1 - Latest Scoreichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/1440/cpsprodpb/14A19/production/_129450548_ryan_reynolds.jpgWrexham: Paul Rudd mingles with Wrexham fans before crucial game above..and lots of other stuff too on link below www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-65361433.................................................................................................................................................................................... Wrexham to turn to heavy artillery? Wrexham 1-1 Boreham Wood Barry Horne - Former Wales and Wrexham midfielder on BBC Radio Wales I was thinking at half-time, how is Phil Parkinson going to approach this? A point is neither here nor there for Wrexham because they will still have to win next week whether they draw or lose tonight. It's almost like a free hit tonight. If it's still 1-1 with 25 minutes to go, let's throw the heavy artillery on - all the forward players. ............................................................................................................................................................................................ GOAL - Wrexham 2-1 Boreham Wood Paul Mullin OH MY. WHAT A GOAL! If this is the strike that is going to go all around the world then so be it. Paul Mullin picks the ball up on the left flank, drives in-field and whips a sensational strike into the far top corner. It sends the Racecourse wild. Wrexham have one foot back in the Football League. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/4/22/6343a677-a3d2-4e53-9c22-96d1eb7e4276.jpg......................................................................................................................................................................................... 'Exquisite finish'Wrexham 2-1 Boreham Wood Barry Horne - Former Wales and Wrexham midfielder on BBC Radio Wales That's what having Paul Mullin, a goalscorer in form, in your team does for you. I have the best seat in the house. As he struck it, I am looking straight down the line of that and the instant he pulls his foot back, you know where that's going. The finish is exquisite. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/4/22/658850f5-1c48-49f0-9ddb-144045e77e9d.jpgThat is Paul Mullin's 44th goal in 49 games this season. Surely none have been better. .......................................................................................................................................................................................... DISALLOWED GOALWrexham 2-1 Boreham Wood Wrexham have the ball in the net but the flag was already up for offside. I'm not sure that was the right call. "We've got super Paul Mullin," sing the Wrexham fans. ....................................................................................................................................................................................... ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/4/22/32cc2aac-8024-4547-a95d-c8d4b1dea716.jpgThere are 25 minutes to go - Nervous, Ryan? .......................................................................................................................................................................................... When Wrexham were relegated to non-league 15 years ago today it ended an 87-year spell in the Football League. They are a huge club at this level but have not been able to get out of this league. Good handling from Ben Foster, meanwhile, snuffs out a Boreham Wood attack. Spaces are opening up in this game. I wouldn't be surprised if there's another goal. Tyrone Marsh shoots at goal for Boreham Wood but his effort is well blocked. You can feel the tension building. ..........................................................................................................................................................................................

GOAL - Wrexham 3-1 Boreham Wood Paul Mullin
WREXHAM ARE HEADING BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE.Paul Mullin has done it Yet again. It's another spectacular goal as he shoots from the left side of the box. "We are going up" chant the home fans. ..................................................................................................................... 'Mullin gives defenders no chance'Wrexham 3-1 Boreham Wood Barry Horne - Former Wales and Wrexham midfielder on BBC Radio Wales Boreham Wood make a mistake, a sliced pass, a poor touch and Paul Mullin is one on one. The beauty of Paul Mullin is that defenders have no chance of reading what he is going to do because he can go left or right. He makes a yard to get his shot off and he generates so much power. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/16701/production/_129450919_ryan_reynolds.jpg............................................................................................................................... It has not been plain sailing but now they are 15 minutes from promotion. At the end of the 2020-21 season Wrexham missed out on the play-offs after defeat on the final day and a year later lost in the semi-finals after narrowly missing out on automatic promotion. This year they have led the way in one of the most remarkable title races the National League has seen. Both Wrexham and second-placed Notts County have beaten the previous record points total in the division. If they hold on here they are back in the Football League after 15 long years away. ................................................................................................................................................. 'Wrexham have spent money well'Barry Horne - Former Wales and Wrexham midfielder on BBC Radio Wales Whatever Paul Mullin has cost Wrexham, he has more than repaid it. The aim is to get back into the Football League and you have a certain amount of money to spend, and they have spent it well. ..................................................................................................................................................

Outstanding. .............................................................................. Rob Phillips - BBC Wales Football Correspondent The crowd all around us are on their feet. That's how long the Wrexham fans have to wait. .................................................. Christian: It will be fantastic for Wales to have four Football League clubs again and this will be fantastic for the city of Wrexham and the whole of north Wales after 15 long years. The way the club has been managed since the fan takeover and subsequently by Ryan and Rob has been fantastic. The marketing has been excellent. It's wonderful to see. Welcome back to the league, Wrexham and hopefully it won't be long before we can see Wrexham involved in some great Welsh derbies again.

Wrexham 3 Boreham Wood 1 - Referee: Scott Jackson - Attendance: 10,126
Paul Mullin was the hero as Wrexham came from behind to beat Boreham Wood to seal the National League title and a return to the Football League after a 15-year absence.
Lee Ndlovu stunned the hosts with a goal after just 43 second, but Elliot Lee's header brought Wrexham level.
Mullin's second-half brace saw the hosts win and take the title.
The club's owners, Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, were there and joined in the celebrations.
Wrexham's return came 15 years to the day since they dropped out of the EFL.
A 2-0 defeat at Hereford on 22 April 2008 signalled the start of what manager Phil Parkinson had described as "15 years of pain".
Since relegation from League Two in 2008, the club endured play-off disappointment five times and was also on the brink of going out of business.
But since Deadpool star Reynolds and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator McElhenney took over in early 2021, the club has been transformed.
With the airing of the Disney+ documentary Welcome to Wrexham, interest in the club had grown globally and coincided with an epic National League title race.
The title could have been decided in Wrexham's favour before the late kick-off at the Racecourse, but Notts County's 5-2 win at Maidstone meant Wrexham would do so with a victory of their own.
The players entered the Racecourse pitch to a deafening roar, but inside the opening minute the oldest international stadium in the world still in use fell silent as a long ball found Ndlovu, who coolly lobbed Ben Foster
Despite that early setback Wrexham's players, and indeed their fans, did not hide away and they were back in the game with quarter of an hour played.
Barnett's cross from the right found Lee, and the former Luton Town winger's header put Wrexham right back in the game.
Boreham Wood, needing a point to guarantee their place in the play-offs, were proving hard to break down.
And Zac Brunt's long range effort and Femi Ilesanmi's back post header, as well as a low shot which Foster had to gather, came during a promising spell for Luke Garrard's side.
Mullin had an effort saved by keeper Nathan Ashmore while some nice work between Sam Dalby and Mullin saw Dalby advance into the box, but a well-timed tackle brought a promising move to an end.
As much as Boreham Wood tried to slow down the tempo of the game, much to the irritation of the home fans, Wrexham stepped up the pace after the break.
Eoghan O'Connell had headed over from Ben Tozer's long throw in before the Dragons went ahead for the first time in the game.
Mullin picked up the ball on the left flank, advanced into the box and let fly with a curling effort which beat the despairing dive of Ashmore.
Wrexham still had to be wary of Boreham Wood's counter attacks and Foster had to gather
But Mullin, the man who swapped the prospect of League One for the National League when he joined Wrexham from Cambridge United in the summer of 2021, scored the goal that would finally seal a return to the Football League.
Advancing on goal he wrong footed defender Will Evans before unleashing a fierce left footed shot and a goal which would spark incredible scenes at the Racecourse at the final whistle.

'The fans deserve this day' - Paul Mullin
Wrexham striker Paul Mullin, speaking to BT Sport after the game: "It's been phenomenal at times. We have had a long time here and the fans deserve this day and this group stick together and we have done all season.
"All the shenanigans to come play at Wrexham and to come from one nil down tonight is unbelievable." ................................................................................................................................................................... 'I'm so proud of the lads'
More from striker Paul Mullin, speaking to BT Sport: "It [Boreham Wood's goal after 43 secods] wasn't a lapse in concentration it just happens. It was an uphill challenge from there and it was even harder, but the players we have got and the chances we can create is unbelievable.
"The pressure we have had since the Notts County game and not just that we have had to keep going and even at Barnet when we went down to 10 men we had to show the grit and determination.
"I am most proud of that. We had to deal with a lot and people think biggest budget you'll win it easy and its not like that. But Notts County have been unbelievable and I'm so proud of the lads to get over the line." ................................................................................................................................................................ 'I feel so emotional' - Parkinson
Phil Parkinson speaking to BT Sport: "Amazing feeling I feel so emotional after what the club has been through in the last 15 years. I am so proud of the performance and the fans to go down and to come back.
"To play Notts County and to turn up on the big occasion, I'm pleased for every single one of them.
"We know how to win games and I just thought if we keep passing it and switching it we will get chances to score." ...........................................................................................................................................................................................................

Wrexham lift National League trophyWrexham players Luke Young and Ben Tozer lift the National League trophy high above their heads! The champagne is sprayed and We Are the Champions is belted out over the PA system. ............................................................................................................................................................ Anon: Nowhere else in the world could you find the league average attendance over 3,000 in the fifth tier! Show’s just how much love the British public has for football no matter how ‘big or small’ their club! Great advert for lower league football not only from Wrexham, but the entire national league! ..................................................................................................................................................................................... Now former Manchester United, West Brom and England goalkeeper Ben Foster hugs ryan Reynolds in the middle of the pitch. That's a sentence I didn't think I'd be writing a year ago. 'Very special'
"This club is different," says goalkeeper Foster. "That is very special." He was retired a few months ago before signing for Wrexham at the end of last month. Ex-Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster, who joined Wrexham last month, speaking to BT Sport: "This is my seventh game right and it is like home already this club is different. It is special." On regretting his move to Wrexham: "Heck no! Heck no! No where else that I would have come to. I know how much it means to them. Seven games I've played - oh my god they [Wrexham fans] are bonkers!" On Wrexham's poor start: "That's not the start you want even then though I thought it was fine. When the fans get going no one cans stand in are way it was never in doubt when we got one back." On feeling pressure: "The lads don't feel any pressure, I don't think I've been in a team where the team go about there job relentless and there is no big timers in that dressing room." ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/4/22/8158563c-4c39-4193-b9a3-ccf640ed31d7.jpg..................................................................................................................................................................................

'This is why we chose Wrexham' - Ryan ReynoldsWrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds, speaking to BT Sport: "I am not sure I can process what happened tonight. I am still little speechless. "[People ask] 'Why Wrexham?'. This is why Wrexham. This happening, right now, is why. "Boreham Wood showed up today. They are an incredible team. They have one of the best defences in the entire league. "This entire story, the reason we are all on edge of our seats is because Notts County are so damn good. They deserve to go up. Wrexham: Paul Rudd joins Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney at promotion win..By Brendon Williams, Peter Gillibrand & Jack Grey.
Hollywood A-listers celebrated alongside lifelong fans as superstar-owned club Wrexham won promotion back to the Football League on Saturday.
Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd joined famous owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to watch the Welsh club come from behind to beat Boreham Wood 3-1.
There were tears of joy among fans and owners as Wrexham returned to the Football League after 15 years away.
"We can hear how it feels to the town," said co-owner McElhenney.
Paul Mullin's two goals created a party atmosphere at the sell-out Racecourse and at the final whistle, emotional Wrexham fans spilled out onto the pitch as their Hollywood owners - who made the club world famous with their Disney+ We Are Wrexham documentary - cried in the directors' box.
"People said at the beginning 'why Wrexham?', this is exactly why Wrexham, happening right now," Deadpool star Reynolds told BT Sport, pointing to the celebrating Wrexham fans.
"I'm not sure I can actually process what happened tonight, I'm speechless."
Supporters - who once could only watch in horror as the club flirted with extinction and winding-up orders as it struggled with multi-million pound debts more then a decade ago - hugged and punched the air as they watched Wrexham win the National League title with a record points tally.
McElhenney added to BT Sport: "How it feels for the town is the most important to us - it's a moment of catharsis for them and celebration - and to be welcomed into this community and this experience is the honour of my life."
The owners joined their team on the pitch and embraced the players that made their dream come true before Wrexham captain Ben Tozer lifted the National League trophy.
Wrexham players sang Queen's anthem We Are The Champions in the dressing room as fans spilled out onto the streets after a historic evening and what their owners might describe as a Hollywood ending.
It wasn't lost on Reynolds, who wanted a memento of this historic occasion for him and his club, as his gate-crashed Wrexham's post-match press conference to get goalkeeper Ben Foster's shirt.
"Foster, Foster.... jersey now," demanded a joking Reynolds.
"It is his jersey," laughed Foster, the former England and Manchester United goalkeeper.
"It stinks by the way, it absolutely stinks."
Seldom has there been such a global focus on a team winning a title in English football's fifth tier, but the draw of Reynolds and McElhenney - plus their behind-the-scenes series at the world's third oldest club - has made Wrexham international news.
But promotion isn't just the dream of their celebrity owners, but the thousands of Wrexham fans - especially those at the sold out Racecourse on Saturday evening - that have suffered their fair share of turmoil and agony.
"This is fantastic, this is amazing - I can't speak I'm so happy, it's the best day ever," said supporter Laura Roberts as she left the Racecourse.
Elwyn Davies, a Wrexham fan since 1957, added: "This is absolutely wonderful, I didn't sleep much last night and I've been nervous leading up to the game but we did it."
"I can't believe we won the league - but we all knew it would happen," said 11-year-old Cali Howet, who cannot wait to see her team in the Football League for the first time in her lifetime.
"It's amazing - I love Ryan and Rob, they've done so much for the city."
Wrexham's promotion also got Royal approval as the Prince of Wales tweeted: "Congratulations Wrexham AFC.
"A club with such amazing history, looking forward to a very exciting future back in the Football League. Doing Wales proud," Prince William said on Twitter.
Former England striker and Match of the Day host Gary Lineker also congratulated Wrexham on social media, while Wrexham legend Mickey Thomas, the former Wales and Manchester United star, thanked the club's players and owners for sealing promotion.

Wrexham: Ryan Reynolds fulfils fan Jay Fear's dying wish..i2-prod.walesonline.co.uk/incoming/article26739144.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/1_200423jayfear_02.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/news/240/cpsprodpb/13F51/production/_129454718_newproject.pngRyan Reynolds has described being "choked up" after meeting an "exceptional" Wrexham fan who has terminal appendix cancer. Jay Fear, 45, who was diagnosed in January, met his hero at Wrexham's Racecourse stadium where his team won promotion to the Football League. The Deadpool star gave him a glove from the movie and arranged for him to visit the set for the series' third film. Mr Fear, from Southampton, said his family would remember it forever. Reynolds said: "It was amazing to meet Jay. I wonder if I'd have the same unwavering joy if our roles were reversed. "He is an exceptional person and his family is wonderful. I got a little choked up talking to him and feeling how much his kids and wife are going to miss him." "They always say you should never meet your idol and this guy is definitely an exception to that," Mr Fear told BBC 5 Live's Sunday Breakfast. The charity Bucket List Wishes helped arrange the meeting, and it said: "This wish is the hardest, took the most amount of volunteer hours and cost the most in almost ten years of us granting wishes." Mr Fear had become a fan of Wrexham after watching the Disney+ documentary Welcome to Wrexham, which has charted the takeover of the club by Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney. Mr Fear, his wife and children were whisked away from their home in Southampton to Wrexham to met Reynolds and watch the 3-1 win over Boreham Wood, earning Wrexham a return to the English Football League after 15 years. Mr Fear said the star spent 20 minutes chatting with him and his family and gave him a signed glove from his character, Deadpool, which was used in the second movie. Reynolds also invited Mr Fear to Pinewood studios to watch filming for the next instalment. Mr Fear told Reynolds: "I really hope I'm going to be about to get to see Deadpool 3 when it comes out. "He went 'well, we're filming in six weeks so why don't we get you guys up to London. Yeah, let's make that happen'. "I was like.... 'please'." Mr Fear added: "People might think this whole thing was for me. "Actually, this is for [my family] because they are the ones that are going to remember what happened for the rest of their lives. "I just hope this is a core memory that they'll never forget."
