We close the U's down quickish,so the U's usually passed sideways or backwards.Their possession often did'nt create. We've created more good chances. Cambridge ar'nt so bad Oldie. A very average L1 team I would say. Whatever they do with the ball, we cannot score if we don't have it Oops

I was one of the possibly thousands that appealed for a hand ball and a Rovers penalty in the first half. 🙂😉 Me too, sort of half heartedly. Having seen the footage since, not sure. Anyway, completely deserved three points, which will piss off the Cambridge fans on here. UTFG 🏴☠️

Joey Barton explains the difference Cambridge win will make for his Bristol Rovers players.
Joey Barton believes Bristol Rovers' 2-1 win over Cambridge United at the Mem on Saturday will give his players the confidence to start climbing the table.
The Gas leapt out of the bottom four and ended a 56-day wait for a League One win.
A Greg Taylor own goal put Rovers ahead on 17 minutes after a slick start and they looked good value to add to their lead, but they were pegged back 10 minutes before half time when James Belshaw felled Sam Smith to concede a penalty.
Joe Ironside made no mistake with a clinical finish from 12 yards to put the game back in the balance.
Rovers had taken five points from their first six home games, but they were back in front 11 minutes after the interval when Middlesbrough loanee Josh Coburn scored on his league debut, tucking away a brilliant Aaron Collins cross.
Barton's blues secured the points with a dogged showing in the final half hour to climb to 19th in the table ahead of Tuesday's trip to MK Dons.
"Confidence is everything and we’re fully aware of the scraps we’ve had here, drawing games we felt we should have won, and there is no greater drug in football than winning games and getting that shot of confidence, especially when you’re in a young group and in a new league, and especially when you’ve got a passionate fanbase behind you," Barton said.
"I think that will do us the world of good, but I think that was built of Exeter last week. We had great away support and the lads dug in and got themselves back in the game late doors with the equaliser.
That allowed us to take momentum into Tuesday night and win comfortably and it allowed us to bring even more momentum into the stadium today.
"I think confidence is that secret recipe that every single person in football cannot have enough of and that will go no end today to improving our lads’ confidence and helping us start kicking on now and driving up the table."

Only problem with today was three daft bookings. Every one of them was right and the ref was the best we've had for years. Anyway, 2-1 flattered Cambridge. Magnificent performance from every player (Gibson maybe excluded) and Ryan Loft was easily man of the match. Loads of positives from today. UTFG. 🏴☠️⚽️ Excellent performance from the Gas who fully deserved the 3 points and yes I agree the ref was ‘top draw’ and being fit he was able to keep up with play so no guesswork just the correct decision (albeit 50% went against us!) Slowly but surely the Gas are going through the gears so 3 points up for grabs both Tuesday and Saturday against strugglers MK Dons and Cheltenham. If the improvement can be sustained then the team ‘gelling’ is starting a lot earlier this season so playoffs a reasonable aspersion. UTG

Ben Toner is definitely one of the better refs we get. Good to win today but we do need to beat sides like this, accrington, Lincoln and Shrewsbury at home if we are not to struggle. 2 more wins in Oct and an acceptable points return from the month

Blimey. Thanks for the positive response. We won today. Is there some sort of censorship on here? Only when the Admin team receive a Report. Edit: And only when they have received a Report - and reviewed it - and concluded rules may have been broken, will they then take a vote and by a majority (usually unanimous) take action if necessary. It's all so bloody democratic.

Just got back.. Whew.....on the Glos Rd at 10.30am doesn't do well for your health! ...or wealth.
*Hic!*
ON TOUR!
Well well well, a reversion to a back 4 reaps rewards....? Who would've thought it? That's what it looked to me.
A much needed confidence boost win against regular run of the mill division test. I think Cambridge will end up bang in middle of bottom half of table and never really troubled by relegation.
My m o m Hoole. What an important player he's become? This time last year he'd broken through the regular playing of first team, was m o m on his first few games, only to be inexplicably dropped. We went into last season worrying about about rb rwb position because Rodman had vertigo....now it's Hoole hitting the heights, and fast becoming an undroppable component in an every changeable defence. Good on ya, lad. His goal, questionable....but it should his vigor and enthusiasm.....all wrapped up on the 16 min applause for NA.
Quick mention for Coburn.... welcome to the Gas and a debut goal. Hopefully, the first goal amongst many.
He couldn't have done it without support...so while Lofty was having an impromptu match with many things not working, but still trying to pull off the holding up ball, flick ons, his running was immense....and Finley (close m o m) was supporting everyone; creative in triangles and battling, Rossiter (the fastest improved) breaking up play....it was the slick move of Aaza that provided the assist and always looks dangerous and first name on teamsheet for me. His passing and movement, his dribbling and confidence to go past his man makes some of the admission fee worth it.
It added to balance to play 2 big fellas up front. It felt right, rather than dysfunctional. It might not be correct every match, but it genuinely flummoxed Cambridge....whom brought a few down and made some noise.
Belly definitely gave away penalty, but have to say amazing through ball to pick out the run of his teammate, perfectly weighted, deserved some recognition.
A good win on an unseasonably warm day in Autumn with boat load of cider on board .... What's not to like? *Hic!*

My MOTM was Jordan Rossitter, but there were 3 or 4 candidates and I would'nt argue with any of them. Absolutely Luca had a good game.Got an elbow in the face for his trouble an all!I want him to stay at Rovers, but if a fc was to make a bid for him I wonder.Decent at rb and ch.£500,000 at the moment, could be £1,000,000 come the end of the season.Came through the ranks at Rovers,a success story. Gibbons made a solid return to 3rd tier duty. McCormick danced around a couple of defenders near the ft whistle,I thought he was going to score. Gordon is a great lb,another MOTM contender. Our bench had very decent players on it yesterday. When substitutions are needed,Joe can be confident in the lads coming on.Significant in these days of 5 swaps allowed.

Hoole headed it across goal and it hit Taylor on the chest and took a 90 degree spin into the net. Another one of the many things our commentators miss week in week out. Good thing we have Gerry in Australia to keep them informed of what's really going on :-) .
