Inferring that it might be a dodgy energy company like Pilley's is my take? Or something to do with Taylor's history.

Bristol Rovers season preview 2023/24: Why toxic turd Barton is demanding progress..By Ryan Dabbs Contributions from Nathan Bees published 1 day ago. FourFourTwo's Bristol Rovers season preview 2023/24 – can the Gas manager lead them higher up the Football League? The Bristol Rovers season preview 2023/24 asks for more progress in all areas of the club, not just the pitch. Catching the eye with a young, vibrant side, the Gas might need a touch more know-how, mainly in defence. Star forward and League One Player of the Season Aaron Collins is staying, though, which is especially promising for Bristol Rovers fans. If they re-invest wisely, a top-half finish in League One is attainable. One-time loanee Luke Thomas has joined from Barnsley, too. Bristol Rovers season preview 2023/24, the fan's view: Nathan Bees (@nathbees)Last season was a mixed bag. Most fans would have taken a comfortable finish outside the relegation zone on our return to League One, but with the team having been hovering around the play-off places at Christmas, the opportunity was there to do better. The big talking point is the revelation that Rovers have been in discussions with an investment company to be part of their plans to redevelop land at St Philip’s Marsh, near Bristol city centre. It’d be the perfect place for a new home, but there’s a long way to go first and we’ve been here before. Fans think our owner is doing a good job, but Wael Al-Qadi will ultimately be judged on whether he can successfully deliver a new stadium. The thing my club really gets right is the way it has rallied around defender Nick Anderton since his bone cancer diagnosis, with a minute’s applause in the 16th minute of every match – No.16 being his squad number – while fundraising efforts have raised tens of thousands of pounds for him and his young family. The one change I’d make would be for the club to provide better interviews with players by asking more than the usual, “It’s going to be a very difficult game on Saturday, isn’t it?” They used to do this, but don’t as often any more. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/0677/production/_129755610_shutterstock_editorial_13876175du.jpg I won’t be happy unless we finish in the top 10. Outward expressions of ambition are all well and good – toxic turd Barton has said he’ll resign if he hasn’t made Rovers “a credible Championship team” in two years – but the club have talked it up so much that falling short would be a setback. Our key player will be midfielder Grant Ward, our best signing of last season. Tying him down to an extended contract this summer was a big shot in the arm for supporters’ confidence levels. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/B277/production/_129978654_shutterstock_editorial_13789984bp.jpg The opposition player who grinds my gears is Shaun Rooney, Fleetwood’s Scottish full-back. He got on the wrong side of Gasheads last season with his histrionics and antagonistic behaviour. We’ll finish 10th, as things stand, but a strong end to the summer transfer window could have a transformative effect on our hopes

toxic turd Barton discusses Connor Taylor return as Bristol Rovers confirm permanent deal for former loanee..by Daniel Hargraves.toxic turd Barton has provided his verdict on latest Bristol Rovers signing Connor Taylor from Stoke City who has re-joined the club after being a star player in the Gas' 2021/22 League Two promotion season. Rovers announced earlier this evening that the centre-back has signed a three-year deal at the Mem for an undisclosed fee, although Bristol Live understands it is in the region of £300,000. The now-21-year-old played 41 league matches for the club as a loanee from the Championship outfit two seasons ago and became a firm favourite amongst supporters. It is also the second time this summer that a loanee from that season has returned to the club on a permanent deal with Luke Thomas joining from Barnsley and the third time under Barton's tenure with James Connolly 12 months ago. "I'm absolutely delighted to be back," Taylor told the club's media. "It's no secret how much I enjoyed myself on loan and I want to do that again. The relationship that I built with the gaffer, the fans and all the staff was second-to-none so when I had the opportunity to come back permanently, it was a chance that I had to jump at." Barton spoke to BBC Radio Bristol's 'Having a Gas' podcast about bringing the defender back to the club, saying: "Connor is somebody who already has a story with Rovers. He had a fantastic season in League Two with us and for us, we'd love to continue that journey. But Connor wasn't our player, he was a Stoke player. "He went back there and this summer I think there is an opportunity for him to get out. And rightly Connor had a lot of interest. I spoke to Connor and there was Championship interest in him. But there was no doubt in his mind for him and his family that Rovers was the best place for his development. "It will be a real boost and also another step in the right direction for me of converting a loan player who, if he can't kick on into his manager's first team plans like Elliot Anderson, then they're more than welcome back at Rovers at some point in the future." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/15DF7/production/_125719598_barton_2_c674b6b903a29293a1249ad5b4f3e5596d9bf3bb.jpgThe Rovers manager went on to discuss the club's loan policy, mentioning former loanee Lewis Gibson who was a target this summer but instead opted to join Championship side Plymouth Argyle. "Look, some go your way," the 40-year-old said. "Some like Lewis Gibson, who were great lads, decide that they want to sign for a Championship club then as I say the key is that when they sign they give everything for the jersey. You're not going to sign every single loan player you take. "But there is some methodology in taking young loan players because it's almost a kind of try before you buy sometimes because the margins of errors and the opportunities at Premier League clubs and Championship clubs now is so fine. The manager turnaround at those clubs is the same, it's so quick. A lot of managers don't get the chance to blood a kid and give him 40 games like sometimes we do down here. "I think everybody knows what a good player he [Taylor] is and it would be great if he trusts us and his family trust us with the next stage of his development." The Gas kick off their 2023/24 League One season away at Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon, although they will be without their manager as Barton begins a three-game ban for an incident with a match official towards the end of last season. It does, however, appear as though Taylor will at least be involved somehow as Rovers look to put an end to their woeful opening day record and secure a statement result against a promotion favourite to start off the season.

We’ll finish 10th, as things stand, but a strong end to the summer transfer window could have a transformative effect on our hopes You see, Barton has, before the season has begun, already pinpointed a player and, in effect, placed a target on him for when he comes to the mem. There are some who will be hanging on every word that he says and will, no doubt of it, use this as an excuse to give him grief. It’s just another example of how Barton works and this from a man who is supposed to be maturing and expects others to believe that. This was an opportunity to set out his and the clubs stall, ambitions and positive content but he, again, uses the media to his own agenda and if you are not with him then you must be against not only him but the club. I just don’t get it, not at all. Sorry as i have been browsing but not posting but i could not resist, when i read that part of the interview. It’s just like being in school and you are mates with the hard kiddy. I see no difference to that, at all. Back to browsing, from time to time.

That should be made clear then because it is very easy to read it as paraphrasing Barton

Maybe you are right, i saw the article and just thought it was Bartons words although i do not hide that i will never ever accept Barton as a decent human being let alone the manager.

I assume you were happy to accept him as Rovers manger when we beat Scunthorpe 7-0 and also when you were talking about getting a season ticket earlier this summer?
